Grealish To City? | City bid £100M

Sure City have to pay more than 100m for Kane after this

Brilliant player but where does he fit in? Also what do they do with Kane now?

He’s a good player, but £100m for him is absolutely insane. The overrating and gushing for him all summer has gone crazy.

Gutted because he would've been such a great option for our left side, and is clearly going to give City a unique option.

The money is crazy and if Villa's signings step up to the mark, they should be okay.

Seen a few on Twitter stating we wanted Grealish over Sancho and we have sloppy seconds . That tickled me given how long we spent trying to sign Sancho!

Will either play LW instead of Sterling, or rumours Pep wants to play him as an 8 next to De Bruyne, but not sure he will suit that role.

They'll still sign Kane, completely different players.

Haaland will cost something like £73M there's no way he'll deplete our funds
It's worth remembering that while we may need to pay Dortmund 73m he and his agent are likely to ask for astronomical signing fees and wages.

You think it's viable with the FFP rules? Or is it completely dead now?

City have 100€ Million on Player Sales( even more if they sell Silva and Laporte ). They can easily afford up to 300 Million spending this year without breaching FFP

FFP was relaxed due to COVID as most clubs won't be able to reach the required mark without fan income anyway.

City will just make up a fake sponsor backed by ETIHAD like they usually do even if there was an issue.

Make no mistake, signing Grealish doesn't mean they won't be in for Kane - just depends whether they'll pay what Levy wants.

I don't think he'll improve them by that much tbh. They're already at such a high level and have players like this in abundance.

Will be a bigger loss for Villa.

It's the city that attracts these stars not the crazy salaries. I will never believe again that it's the allure of these teams. You can't tell me that if we had bid for Frenkie de Jong and Barca did the same with a salary offer of 150k which is reasonable for a player coming from the Eredivise and we offered him 400k he would still choose the beautiful city of Barcelona over Manchester. When Griezmann went to Barcelona some said he had chosen them over us, no he chose 800k or whatever it is over us.
Depends on the player. Not everyone is driven by money, some players want to make history as the great players at great clubs. Barcelona, Madrid, Utd too can all offer money sure, but they have that extra something special which no doubt still appeals to many players.

Most competitive league in the world  City set to win the title by February if they get Kane too.

Sadly I think he will really flourish under Pep. Not that City were in desperate need for a player like him though.

Kane will join next and then it's good night Vienna for the whole league.

Taken from the article - though I imagine Pep will somewhat flexible and utilise him out wide at times like with Bernardo.

Sources close to City manager Pep Guardiola indicate that Grealish will feature as a No 8, rather than as a left winger as he has done at Villa in recent seasons.

It’s thought that Grealish prefers playing centrally and that he will be rotated with Ilkay Gundogan in City’s midfield.

Next year if all goes well, who would you prefer;

Rashford, Haaland, Sancho or Grealish, Kane, Sterling?

Not that they haven’t already made a mockery of the league but if they splash £250 million on Kane a Grealish they really have completely ruined the best league in the world. No doubt the neutrals won’t give a damn either because it’s not Utd doing it.,

It’s pretty close. I think Rashford is a weakness on ours. My hope is Greenwood kicks on and keeps him out the team which I think he’s more than capable of.

Greenwood—Haaland——Sancho

Now that looks elite!

Peak Rashford without his shoulder/ankle injuries and in flying form is just as dangerous as any of them IMO. All depends though whether he can get over them + get his form back.

Having those 4 as options though will definitely make us competitive. Improve the midfield over the next 2 years and we've got a pretty strong side.

We really aren't as far behind City as people make out IMO.

Just when you think we've won the summer transfer window City go and spend 250m on 2 players

If Chelsea sign Lukaku they've addressed their major issue as well

Ah well roll on 12 months when we get Haaland

Rich people have always got involved in football in the past but not at these levels. When countries (as good as anyway) are buying football clubs then it really is a total sham. PSG n City won't be looked back on fondly in years to come from Football fans. Most people will eventually agree it's been terrible for the sport.

I think he's making a mistake if he goes as this transfer just smacks of "goldplating" by City. He will get heavily rotated and that won't suit his style of play. City won't actually care as half of his "value" to them is the denial of his talent to other teams. City look to now be trying Abramovich's old trick of just hoovering up all talent available in critical spots so they can deny them playing for their competitors.

I'm not suggesting United should buy him but if he was to go to another big club or even stay and make Villa more competitive, that is increased competition for City who clearly have a plan of almost having a premier league squad and a champions league squad so they can try and win both at the same time. By reducing the competitiveness of the premier league they will hope to make it easier for them to win their elusive champions league title.

Maybe they will go full Abramovich and get Etihad to sponsor the whole competition in the hope of winning it for the first time like chelsea did with Gazprom?

We are going to witness 2 teams breaking British record three times in one summer window.

I know he's joining a rival but does anyone else feel abit 'meh' over this ?

Struggling to see how he fits in

Kane I could understand as they need a striker with aguero leaving but they've got a ton of players like grealish already.

Honestly grealish signing for them doesn't bother me. I dint see how he improves them up a level.

With this signing and Chelsea getting Lukaku we have no choice but to buy a DM and keep Pogba if we want to truly compete.
