Grealish To City? | City bid £100M

I wish he could hold out till next summer for us to come get him, it's feels like we missed a trick last summer choosing to sign Donny over Jack, Tbh i feel gutted he's going to cithe, because he's one of a few with unique style of play.
Now watch cithe find a way over inferior opposition with a lot more frequency.
If Aston Villa had been relegated in 2020, I truly believe we would have signed Grealish that summer. And with him in our team, who knows what we could have accomplished? The world of football may have looked a very different place to the one we're currently discussing.

You’re actually comparing Bundesliga and one of the few really top teams there with Aston Villa and EPL.

Again I would love to be proven wrong and I understand the backlash. But clearly we should have stopped City getting him regardless of the price. They have strengthened more on top of a title winning side.

They have a sure deal in Grealish as compared to us with Sancho.

And Grealish has spent the majority of his career tussling in the Championship and League 1.

Hasn't even managed 100 PL caps yet IIRC.

There is a reason why the players wanted Grealish over Sancho. Ideally we should have overspent and gotten both because Grealish is clearly a Utd player while Sancho is a big gamble.

Sancho is brilliant but Grealish elevates the whole team.
There’s literally no reason to believe Sancho is a bigger gamble or anyhow inferior player compared to a substitute for England playing in a subpar Premier League team, really the amount of hype over Grealish that never got the numbers or being as remotely close to winning anything as Sancho is quite stunning. So disrespectful for Jadon - younger, more talented and already a more established player.

Sorry did Grealish play in the premier league every year since 18? No he was in the Championship, and not exactly standing out like Sancho has. Sancho has achieved a production level in the league before his 20th birthday that only Mbappe has matched (and passed, by 1) for the past 30 years if not more. Look up Rooney, Messi, Owen, Fowler, whoever you want. Mbappe is top, Sancho 2nd and only behind because the covid break stopped him from surpassing him. So how exactly is literally one of the most productive young players of all time, a big gamble?

"Clearly we should have stopped City"? It's 100m. We signed Bruno last January. We have Rashford. Clearly, we needed someone who can play on the right. Which is what we did. Buying a player who can only play in the positions where we already have our best attacking performers over the past 2 years is a bad idea. I'm glad we didn't do it. You can't just hoard all the good players. Both Sancho and Varane are individually much better signings for United than Grealish would have been, and far more necessary. That's all there is to it. Literally nothing else matters. Unless you are advocating selling Rashford or selling Bruno to get Grealish in (both things which IMO wouldn't strengthen us), but even so that opinion alone would show your lack of reason.

It means nothing. Player development and progression is not linear.

Ronaldinho spent his early career at midtable Gremio and PSG.

I would argue the exact opposite in Grealish/Sancho.

I think Grealish is an excellent player who is at his peak, but Sancho can be really special.

There is no way I would swap him for Grealish. Dortmund sources have said on a few occasions that United don’t seem to know just how good Sancho is when they were haggling over the fee.

Grealish is great, but Sancho is genuinely exciting in my opinion.

Without a doubt. Sancho is the neymar-esque generational talent who has put up almost unprecedented production levels at his age. Grealish is a top player, but his standout attribute is how much time he spends on the ball and how many fouls he wins.

Don’t get why Villa are only asking for £100m? He has 4. years left in his contract right?. They have all the cards. They should ask for an extra £25m at the very least.

FFP doesn’t apply anymore due to covid right? So they can still go and buy Kane after this?! Kane would make Grealish even better if he had a target like that in the box. Both of them have won nothing and will be hungry for success. You would think that would mean they should be getting 95 plus points for next few seasons. Hard to bridge that sort of gap.
It kind of highlights our need for a proper DM as our head to head games against them in all competitions will be massive if we are to win trophy’s.

Thank you Ole for preferring Sancho over Jack. These are the kind of decisions due to which Utd will always play second fiddle to City in the near future.
Sancho is both better than Grealish now and has a higher ceiling than him in the future.

Maybe they want to cash in due to financial shortcomings (Covid) and don’t want to price City out of signing him.

I dislike posters and Opposition fans who would shit on players just cause they choose to join another that's not their team, the hypocrisy on this thread is had to watch, how do your feel talking down the player just cause he's moving to Cithe, makes no sense, the boy deserves to be at a top team after improving year on year.
Grealish is an unbelievable player on his day, theirs no team he won't be improving their attacking input if he keeps at it,

I like Grealish but i want him to flop if he moves to cithe

They have been spending. Reading about them suggests even though they aren’t a top dog financially they are doing pretty well. Thought they were making a step in the right direction last year. They have a solid team that can finish in the top half. Without Grealish they will struggle to finish in the top 10.

Remember when Villa were in dire need of money, and Spurs tried to take advantage by making derisory bids for him? Good times. By the time they made something approaching an acceptable bid, new owners were in place and the financial situation was secure, so Villa just went "haha nope." Then Glaston tried claiming they never really wanted him all that much and they were getting Martial anyway.

We needed RW but yeah let's sign left winger who plays as RW for a record breaking deal.

And then the dramatic effect

Oh, really? What was the reason? I'm assuming you know, seeing as you're stating it with such confidence.

Reports were that Maguire wanted us to sign an English CB for ease of communication, so I'm sure you also think we made a mistake by signing Varane and letting Arsenal have Ben White.

You're everything that's wrong with football fans.

Grealish for 100m in a post covid market. Thank God we bought Sancho already. I could see this going down as a flop.

Its weird seeing the media actually push the player towards City, both Kane and Grealish. I've heard them being told they have no ambition if they don't move to City, they'll regret this opportunity if they miss it etc etc. I've never seen this sort media-driven push on players to move to any club, let alone City.

How will they lineup?
Sterling

Grealish - KDB - Mahrez

2nd team:

Jesus

Torres - Foden - Silva

Funny before we signed Sancho, general consensus here is Grealish being better player over past 1-2 years. And during Euro this year, people in England all wants the team to be build around Grealish, funny how things have changed here after we'e signed Sancho and City linking up with Grealish. I mean, Sancho could have a higher ceiling in future as he is younger, but Grealish has been rated higher and more of special playe in recent year.

Sancho has proven himself at a higher level than Grealish has. That's indisputable. Grealish has yet to play cl football. Has yet to play for a team that's top four in the highest domestic league. Sancho has been more productive in terms of goals and assists over the past two seasons so I am struggling to see by what metric Grealish is 'more of a special player' other than you prefer the way he plays

Sancho has been rated higher and has performed better than Grealish in recent years. What are your talking about?

They are at the age where winning trophies and playing in CL matters, and there's not many club who could afford them, so going to City would be their best chances to be fair. Apart from City they could also join us too. But having signed Sancho, theres no way we would go for Grealish. Kane would be a great idea too but we are lacking funds to pursue him this summer.

No he hasn't. Grealish has been billed as a player with more leadership qualities/attitude, but Sancho has been more productive footballer, and by miles. Even if you account for the Villa and PL factors, the difference in productivity has been enormous. I'd say they were rated pretty evenly over the last couple of years with Sancho having the edge. I think Grealish is a very good footballer indeed, but I'd take the signing of Sancho over him anyday of the week.

I am talking about general consensus in Redcafe over past 1-2 years. A lot of us having been praising Grealish highly and wanting him to join us as their first priority. Also, England in Euro, a lot of people are begging England team to start Grealish, many people thought England should build their team around him. Same thing couldn't be said about Sancho.

Very difficult pricetag to live up to, even if he does well for them. Think the hype has got a bit out of control with Grealish

Can't really compare productivity between 2 different leagues, especially when there's gulf of difference in terms of productivity from recent BL imports to Chelsea. Sure my personal choice would be Sancho too, but there are also many people here who would prefer Grealish over past year, we just can't pretend the strong favouritism suddenly didn't exist here before.

Then you can't really compare footballers across 2 different leagues.

Many people preferred Grealish but I believe the majority wanted Sancho.

I think he'll be very good for them, but it feels like far too much money. Then again we spent 75/80 on Maguire and it's a drop in the ocean for City.

There are some metric showing Grealish is by far the best in Europe in terms of ball progression (carrying the ball forward), as someone post it here before. Sancho is a great player don't get me wrong, as I personally prefer Sancho as he is younger, very talented and plays on the right. But then Grealish is one of the very few players who is able to carrying his team on his own. In terms of productivity, PL and BL just isn't comparable.

We can compare, but the stats just isn't comparable I mean, just look at the huge differences of stats from Werner over past season in BL and PL.

Well that doesn't apply to me. Always preferred Sancho over Grealish .

Haaland had a slump when Sancho went out injured. Watkins didn't have a dip in form with Grealish out.

Maybe a small vocal minority but what I have seen on Redcafe, Sancho was the clear favorite last year and this year as well.

Don't care about who England starts. Both Sancho and Grealish is what people wanted.

As far as G/A stats go, Sancho blows Grealish out of water. Both are good players but there is a reason why one at 21 was playing Championship football and other was scoring against Barcelona

Haaland was scoring for fun when Sancho had a slump early last season.

He is clear favourite because he has been linking to us strongly, and he could also fill in our RW role, which has been our main weakness.
Grealish is at least as popular as Sancho in Redcafe, even though he has never been really linked to us.

Again, you just can't compare G/A stats directly between PL and BL. They could be night and day difference. For example, Werner has 28 goals in 34 games in BL in 2019-2020, he only has 6 goals in 35 games in PL in 2020-2021. It's just not comparable.
