His current earning is 1,20,000 p /w, most city players earns in that brackets,City's highest earner was Aguero at 2,30,000 p/w I don't see City double the wages to the position where they already stocked up, also their highest priority is Striker.

They get huge bonuses for trophies and usually split a massive bonus pot for a CL win so it’s not that simple. The idea he waits for us is a strange one. I read nothing but how crap we are on here for 5 years and then a player would wait for us over city. Hard to imagine.

I don't say that he would wait for us, all I say is he had signed new contract and there is no significant increase over wages from the current level, wining trophy would be tempting but this look more possible in next season or season after that, also need to note the asking price from the selling club perspective, won't be cheap.

We must sign Grealish, even if we get Sancho.

Offer Villa Dan James and Jesse Messi +£55/60m.

Grealish, Bruno and Sancho supporting Cavani backed up by Rashford, Martial, Greenwood and Amad.

Now that would be exciting.

one thing about him is he genuinely plays football with such joy! He really loves it and it shows in the way he plays. He always comes across as a fan playing football in interviews etc, excitement over players like de bruyne for example. Its a win win situation for him, plays for a club he loves, captain, good money, local lad.. if no one comes along and offers the minimum villa want.. no problem. If someone comes in for him in a year or two with 100million bid.. that’s a choice he and the club will make. It doesn’t feel like he is desperate to leave. I think he will at some stage of his career but it’s hardly a hard life. It’s a win win for him.
Exactly! It's made easier for him because the club is on an upward trajectory. It's not like Zaha and Palace where they're just treading water every year. He has the luxury of seeing how this plays out for his boyhood club and being young enough to assess his options if things don't pan out how he hopes.

It's really refreshing to see in football today. That's why these comments describing this situation as some sort of travesty to football and that he should go to City no less rub me the wrong way.

Aston Villa value Grealish 130£ Million.

Good Luck City. He's 90% staying

I've never really got the hype with Grealish. Granted I've only watched him against Chelsea (because why else will I watch a Villa game) but everytime someone else seems to outshine him in our encounters (Watkins and Traore recently).
Good dribbler but he seems to enjoy spending more time sprawling on the ground than actually making something of his dribbling. I'd gladly see us pass on him.

Genuinely triggered by anyone thinking Traore could outshine Grealish. I'm irrationally angry and going to go outside now to calm down.
This is why Grealish needs to move. The underrating of him because he plays for a smaller team is astonishing.

Looks like Villa have lined up his replacement

Reckon he’s on his way to City. The record fee must’ve been funded somehow, and if we were in for him it would be all over the papers, that’s seemingly how we do business. On the flip side, City are annoyingly efficient at these things.

Like you said you don’t watch Villa too often , I’ve a few Villa mates and they would roll around laughing at this comment , Traore is one of their most frustrating players in the squad .

Villa are loaded. They don’t need to “fund” the Buendia transfer.

the Buendia transfer means nothing in terms of Grealish staying or going. Villa have money, so dont need to sell

Has there been any talk of us signing him?

AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw.
McTominay
Bruno Grealish/Pogba
Mase. Rashford. Sancho
Geez, I feel sorry for Scott as he is the only one apart from the back four that would make a tackle.

Villa look to be a side with ambition and I think they were pretty good last season and I can quite easily see Grealish spending his best years at the club. I think it is refreshing to see a really good player playing for his local team to give something to the fan base and we all know the passion fans have for a local boy done good.

I agree. It's a fine line though. See Le Tissier & Shearer. Both loyal to their local teams, both left a top class legacy (Shearer especially), but neither really fulfilled their potential at the very highest level.

Grealish is a champions league level player, and I simply cannot see Villa getting top 4 in the next few seasons even if they continue to develop. The competition is too strong.

Anyone who watched Shearer play would know he has been the best British CF since Lineker and he won a Premier League title and he played most of his career for the club he loved. I would call that a better career than club hopping and winning a few European titles but that is just my opinion.

If Kane, Grealish, Sancho, TAA, Maguire, Foden, Rice and Mount are all worth more than 100m then surely England should blow the other countries out of the water?

The only thing stopping Villa spending stupid money was FFP. Now that has been relaxed they have the financial power to go mad.

I think I read they are only 2nd to Chelsea in spending since they got promoted.

Well, taa is inj and it's possible none of grealish sancho Foden and Mount actually start.

On pure ability, Grealish is the best player in the league in my opinion, and has been for quite a while.

Theres a valid reason people aren't laughing off the price tag.

They play on different sides of the pitch.

It doesn’t really matter does it. He’s being bought to be a creative outlet for them. Either way, we’ll just see what happens in the next few weeks, won’t we?

Sancho, Trent, Maguire and Rice aren't worth more than 100m. Kane, Grealish, Foden and maybe Mount are.

I think Buendia is simply a replacement for Troare, who was consistently pants whenever I saw him last season.
Typical that he scored a wonder goal against us, though.

He would be most expensive and is not a right side specialist, however he is the closest player to a sure hit signing.

Premier league proven, not too many bad injuries, good age, good mentality for a big team.

He also dominates games without necessarily scoring or assisting. He is like prime Hazard.

Not too many bad injuries but his dodgy shins are a reason I'd be wary. To be fair, fine if you're in a squad like City where'd not play every game.

Obviously a bit of this is me trying to be ok with him signing for City, which I wouldn't be, it would be absolutely gutting. Like when they signed Aguero all over again, just feels wrong.

They need Kane more than they need Graelish, can they afford both? I doubt it. I would love us to sign Graelish but that might only happen if Pogba leaves.

Yeah, but Villa has absolutely no chance of winning the league anytime soon.

It makes a lot of difference at the end of your career. Sure, playing for your club you love is great, but most top players want to win titles and getting paid even more to do it would be even better.

Who knows where these figures come from? Also, what do they even mean?

If it means they won’t sell for less than £130m then, fair enough, Villa are just saying what he is worth to them.

If it’s an arbitrary starting point and they just want to get the most they can, we can just ignore it. The usual auction will determine his actual market value. I feel most interested parties, including Utd, will bow out long before it gets to £130m. Still, £100m wouldn’t surprise me.

One of the best English strikers ever played how many games in the Champions League, 10 in his whole career maybe? You can argue from a personal happiness standpoint maybe he made the right choice, but professionally he denied himself the chance of showing how good he was on the world stage.

Imagine Arsenal not being able to compete with Aston Villa for the transfer of a Championship player... think this should be in the let's all laugh at Arsenal thread.

Cannot wait to see Aftv later.
