YESHHHHH, We'll GOOO for it.
Plenty of book readers have been banned from the TV show thread (most of them warranted, some unwarranted). Both threads are plagued by 'inadvertent' leaks and many back and forths between posters figuring out if the information posted is from the books/show. Add to that, with more and more hacks at HBO about leaks and scripts for future episodes, it really becomes tough for moderators to mod the thread as well.

So this thread is for show watchers and book readers who don't mind discussing events from both mediums as well as discussing potential fan theories from places such as such as asoiaf.westeros.org. All material including Dunk and Egg novellas, A world of Ice and Fire book material and leaks/spoilers are welcomed in the thread.

All in all, this thread is for sad people. Watch some mod delete this in a day

I have a question for those reading the leaks from the off. Looking back, it seems the leaks, especially those based on filming reports, were more or less bang on.

So why are some claiming they were way off? And this is not a dig at Robin alone here, but he used this defence for his first posts in the tv thread, when they were clearly correct right down to the rough timeline. That fanmade poster was one thing, but the location stuff seems to have been a big part of the correct leaks were they not? I'm just wondering if there were others that were complete crap.

The set pictures as confirmation appeared later on, but the Alwaysforthelads leaks was pretty much spot on, saves a few details that most likely get relegated to S8 like Cersei's miscarriage.

As is often the case with the internet, before the show airs, there are some who claim a leak or two early on that is quite blatantly false/attention seeking, but as far as I know the only detailed/well accepted one this time was the Freefolk one mentioned above.

Thanks. So the freefolk one was the one I read that was mainly made up based on filming pics and all that. It just made me wonder when it was used as a defence is all, I couldn't find other leaks that were ever so detailed or based on actual evidence.

I unfortunately saw that miscarriage stuff at the same time as finally reading the leaks. But since the show has changed, I really don't care now. In fact it might be more fun to discuss the theories that come up rather than the actual show now! I wonder if Robin will join in ;)

On the freefolk write up, there were links to two scripts that people were saying were convincing, I take it those are the ones KM insists aren't real?

This isn't going to end well. I was hoping RedSky won't be posting in this thread. :wenger:

Redsky is the biggest shame of them all. He's read both the books and the leaks.

Got a timeline for that?

 The problem is, if I make a prediction now and it works out, I'll just be accused again! So I won't make anymore. At the same time that conveniently stops people seeing the truth when all my predictions based on no leaks turn out to be shit.

Or something like that ;)

So this is a thread for people who read leaks? That should be differentiated to people who just read fan theories

Please, this is a thread where leaks, fan theories and everything goes. There is no spoiler tag required for discussing anything. Just avoid this link like a plague if you are not into that sort of nonsense.

Has anything for season 8 actually been leaked?

This thread is going to end very well

Definitely will. Just hope if we do speculate in other threads it isn't going to lead to the ban stick as for me part of the enjoyment in watching the show is discussing how it will turn out but not with foreknowledge of leaks etc.

I know the first 3 episodes were supposedly leaked but it's apparently all fake.
Apparantly the link I gave you earlier now has script of all episodes and some stuff seemed like Fan ficton, so is more likely fake, but the script had stuff like Cersei being pregnant,
Sam and Bran discussing how to tell Jon about his parents
,
Littlefinger's death being discussed
,
Jaime having fought with Cersei due to factors stated in episode and leaving and winter arriving in KL just as he was going
before all this was aired/leaked. Stuff like LF's death was predictable but not Cersei being pregnant and all

Yeah. But that was all season 7 leaks.

The original leaks from awayfromthelads were bang on the money. The only one that didn't happen was Cerscei miscarriage.

The set photos and filming just confirmed the original leaks, it had been leaked about a month before filming started afaik.

I followed the leaks from the early stages and at around Christmas a lot of fake leakers started posting on freefolk. Most of them said Sansa would die before LF and Arya would kill LF in revenge. Shortly after Christmas awayforthelads started posting screenshots of some scripts (the opening scene at the twins, the boat scene after the wall, the Arya/Sansa scene and the Cerscei/Tyrion scene). Many disputed these as they were not fitting with the writing on the show, but again they were verbatim.

Awayforthelads never claimed to work on the show and many speculated he was a friend of an actor on the show or had been an employee at a hotel where the cast were staying before filming started.

As for the current season 8 leaks, they read more like fan fiction so I'm doubting them for the time being.

It was a deleted scene. To me that means that it will happen at the beginning of season 8 instead.

TV thread is a nightmare. The Banhammer crowd is whipping up a frenzy to get a poster banned because he mentioned 'Azor Ahai'. In the same thread, multiple posts about who is the best swordsman in Westeros and they all include Arthur Dayne and Dawn. Both obvious book references.

It's pretty funny seeing them convince themselves the show is being ruined for them.

Come on now, he's openly talking about theories he's read on reddit, he even says so himself.

Sure I agree most in there probably secretly do anyway, but why bother risk it when you have this and the book thread?

It's a difficult one to distinguish on some occasions. There's a lot of book stuff which is kind of just there, in that it's info that exists but doesn't really impact the main plot or change anything, and you have to actively remember whether or not it's been mentioned on the show or not.

Azor Ahai is one. The general idea of the heroic figure with Lightbringer has been brought up, but I can't remember if Azor Ahai's ever been mentioned by name. Similarly, the connection between Jon and Gendry was another...in the show I don't think we've been told Robert and Rhaegar were distant cousins, but again it's not a spoiler as such, and the show haven't said it's not the case.

Because I didn't know this thread existed at that point. It makes me laugh how people are so upset despite the fact it spoils absolutely nothing for them. What exactly are they mad about? I said azor ahai instead of the "prince that was promised"? It's a little ridiculous really.

It's not about that, it's about theorising based on what you've read elsewhere.

I didn't make the rules, but it should be pretty easy to understand them. You have this and the book thread to chat about your theories, use them and leave the tv one alone. Like I say, I'm convinced most have read the leaks and theories anyway, but it's just not worth risking it.

Fwiw Jamie being AA would be pretty cool for me.

I was absolutely convinced the show had mentioned "Azor Ahai" at some point, did a bit of digging and it seems there are plenty of others who thought the same. But it turns out they've only used some variation on "Prince that was promised." Big fecking deal, it's the same thing, just like "The Others" = "White Walkers".

But that's how the best theories come about... I didn't know the term AA hadn't been used in the show as I thought Melisandre used it in the show but she didn't.

Anyway, I'm really hoping Jaime is AA too. I'm tired of the hollywood bullshit around but you just know that Jon is going to be AA on the show and will kill the night king in some predictably heroic, last minute way.

The fact that it's difficult to distinguish is exactly why one should be careful. Often people read theories online/or conversations irl which are actually based on 'leaks' in the past season. Now unknowingly or knowingly you will end up spoiling things for virgins. Don't do it.
