Technically it's Twitter speculation but it sounds for reals.

Twitter / Doron Salomon: La Gazzetta dello Sport co ...

"La Gazzetta dello Sport confirm #MUFC are set to sign Gollini, Lezzerini, Madrigali and Capezzi from Fiorentina's U16s to join our U18s"

"I don't know if it's Xavier or Saverio Madrigali that we're interested in. The twins have both been called up at U16 level for Italy"

"Leonardo Capezzi has only recently turned 16 and is I believe, their star midfielder. He's already been capped at U17 level"

"Luca Lezzerini is a goalkeeper who has also recently turned 16; he too has been capped at U17 level"

"Pierluigi Gollini is a goalkeeper; I don't know if he's been capped but AC Milan and Juventus have also both been interested in him"

Do we have any Italian specialists here that know more about these kids?

Don't we already have 3 or 4 Italians in our youths that we've "poached"? Think Macheda is far from alone.

Alberto Massacci (Empoli)
Davide Petrucci (Roma)
Michele Fornasier (Fiorentina)

There's twins there but we're only taking one? Thought we would have taken both even if the other isn't as good. Keep our tradition of signing brothers going.

Those are the most Italian names I've ever seen.

There seems to be a but more to it with United players going the other way (maybe loan). You would have thought our current Italians would be the most obvious candidates. Interesting development.

Yeah, pretty much what I'm thinking. Exciting news. Dead disappointed Gollini ain't a striker though. Think of the possibilities.

I'm glad this forum is more level-headed (usually) than Twitter. Already spotted a few people moaning that "we need players for NOW not 2016!!!"

Just incapable of understanding that there are several layers of development, and we can't neglect our youth teams.

Saverio Madrigali - Is a Midfielder.
Xavier Madrigali - I can't find any info on him so my assumption is that we have signed Saverio Madrigali..

The norm here now is 'but are they going to help us beat Barcelona'. The new muppet mantra.

The big Italian clubs are more like Liverpool under Benitez (focusing on the first team etc) then United under SAF or Barca under Guardiola (Focusing on the kids). Mancini and Mourinho tried to change the mentality at Inter by focusing on Balotelli and Santon but everything went back to square 1 with Rafa and Leonardo. I am sorry but I can't offer much help on these transfers.

Sure 'bout that? Think he might be a big center half who models himself on Vida. Don't have time to do any proper googling right now though, so I could be wrong.

This might be Capezzi.

Did any of them participated in the recently concluded Toulon tournament or something? Or are they too young for it? I remember seeing Italy's name in there

Yep.. A few sources are saying he is a Mid..

Not to be too picky here - but if I was a Fiorentina-fan - I would not be a big fan of United right now. One thing is taking 1 of their youngsters - but nicking 4 at the same time ? Ouch - that hurts

It's fecking nonsense to be honest. UEFA are trying and failing to get an exemption on French/Italian/Spanish employment legislation when it comes to footballer's and the club that trains them as a youth but can't ensure they reap the benefits by tying them to a pro contract until 17/18.

I find the whole English pilaging of foreign academies pathetic and mind-numbing really. Techinically there isn't any case to answer but morally it's poor stuff and stinks to high hell of hypocrisy and self interests.

They're all hypocrits, they all rade clubs of talent. Little fish, big fish, etc.

It's crazy that a club can pillage all the best talents from one youth system, if another club had done something like this I would have been complaining.........but I'm willing to turn a blind eye for this one.

you cant blame the English clubs for doing so when its not a level playing field. The likes of Barcelona can pinch kids from South America, English clubs cant.
English clubs are also tied to the very stupid 90 minute travel radius

So, i can see why they are looking abroad for more talent
