Golf 2023

That’s completely unacceptable, over stepping the mark there. You’d hope he will have received some reprimand from the American team for that. But what the hell is McIlroy doing picking a fight Bones, JT’s caddy? JT & McIlroy are big chums off the golf course, so that’s all a bit odd.
LaCava was off shot in that incident and the Bones guy was trying to calm things down

Who were your stars of the show?

I thought Hovland, McIlroy, Rahm, Hatton, Fleetwood and Rose were all outstanding for Europe. For the US Cantlay and Homa were superb, and Koepka was back to his major winning best in the final singles.

So many great younger players on both sides, the Ryder cup looks in rude health.

Hovland and Rory outstanding, my heart was full for MacIntyre   Rose and Hatton and Rahmbo all quality as well. Homa superb for the US.

Tremendous tournament and best in the world for me after the World Cup in football. Top spectacle and should be belting for a long time.

Think that was the best sporting event I’ve ever attended. Incredible atmosphere from 1st tee on Friday morning until that rush on the green on 18.

Good for you, certainly was a great listen for me.

How did you go about getting tickets?

That's interesting, I went to Paris and came back thinking that it was good, but would not be bothered travelling for one again. You see very little golf and it's very hard to even see the few rounds that are happening. Sunday singles is the only day where you really get a good bit of golf in. I'll probably go to Adare, though.

The course in France was a poor viewing experience. This year the course was redesigned for the Ryder Cup. Great viewing all around each hole etc. Ireland is going to be some party.

I’m strongly considering going just for the spectacle.

Plus I’ve played the course a thousand times on WGT. If someone’s caddie pops a hammy or the like, I could slide right in & loop that bag.
I put my name in for volunteering

Just watched the Netflix series Full Swing, not a huge golf fan but definitely a failed player, has anyone else watched it? I found it quite interesting

they had to explain what a birdie was and what the cut was on every episode so I kinda lost interest

Well most people probably have no idea about the terms used in golf, I suspect that some in countries that use the metric system were wondering what yardage was!

No state income tax, and perfect weather during off season for golf. plus, as @calodo2003 will tell you, its paradise.
The collection of quality courses around Jupiter is insane, rivaling other meccas like Phoenix & Myrtle Beach. Most of the top courses are private which is a bit of a bummer, but there still are enough accessible courses that make it special. I was lucky enough to play Seminole & Jupiter Hills 'Hills' on the same summer day in a previous life, one of my most memorable golf days ever. Here's a good article chronicling the quality...

Despite all the horseshit that goes on in the state politically, there are still areas that are slightly less fecked up than other. The Jupiter area is one of them.

That's why I felt Phoenix was better than some areas in South Florida when I was at the Boulders; there were more quality public accessible tracks in AZ.
Have you played in Utah? Not as quality courses as AZ but if you factor in value for money, its insane

Never did. I’ve also heard the same about Montana. This course always interested me in Montana…

Nicklaus Co. design which is not bad, but all the bunkers have black sand in them. That would severely throw off my depth perception!

I was golfing with a guy the other day, it was his second round ever. he was in a bunker, ball almost plugged on a downslope, pretty close to the edge. Id say a 99% chance of ball staying in the bunker, and 0.00001 % chance of getting on the green. I drew an imaginary line for him where to try and hit in the sand behind the ball, the fecker does it PERFECTLY and sticks it to 3 feet
