Absolutely chuffed for him. No better sight in sport than seeing Tiger hunting.

I was a bit emotional. I've been playing golf since I was five and as a 27 year old, you can imagine...I used to adore him.
One of the greatest personal stories I've seen, nevermind sporting.
 
There wouldn't be the modern game without him. He has inspired so many;USA golf owes everything to him. The world of golf owes huge debt to putting it back on the map.

That was the most amazing sporting comeback I've ever seen
 
I still can't get over it. Grateful to have witnessed the most incredible sporting comeback. After all the troubles.... champions are truly a rare breed. Remarkable.

Yes he's been a cnut in the past but he paid for it big time and has come through it all.

I remember exactly where I was when he sunk that birdie on the 16th in 2005. One of those moment etched in history. I'll remember where I was today.



Imagine what those young blokes on the tour were feeling.

I think some people got it into their heads last year when he was competing in the majors , that Tiger was beatable and that players would never be intimidated by him again. I think that the win at the Tour Championship started this absolute resurgence followed by beating Rory in the match play a few weeks back.

Today he got his intimidation factor back and now he's added the extra bow that he can come from behind to win a major. You can imagine a few of the old guard think "feck" and the young guys who'd never played with him like that think "Holy shit".

Tiger is golfs only superstar. I haven’t watched any golf for years but turned this on today with a couple of holes left cause I knew I’d be watching something special.

That would be great although it would be a lot of studio visits.

I can see Nike doing a similar video with tiger watching the same clips but wearing the green jacket and holding the ''trophy'' and it ending with ''just do it''.

If anyone from Nike is reading this I will accept nothing less than 5 million dollars for this fantastic marketing idea.

I'm so happy for Tiger but am absolutely fecking devastated I missed him win. It's the first Masters I have missed for probably 30 years.

I have no doubt in my mind if Tiger hadn't gone off the rails he would have beaten Jack's record by now. The fact he won here only reinforces that belief. I always knew he would win more majors, I just hope this propels him and gives him back the belief.

Thanks to everyone here for providing some decent commentary for me to catch up on. Especially @Snowle Gunnar Solskjær for his graphic description of Tigers groin dampness. Nice.

There are few sporting people in the world that have ever transcended their individual fields quite like Woods, Schumacher, Jordon, Bolt and Federer. I think these are 5 Sportspeople of the last 20 years that we will sit back and think wow. Messi and Ronaldo are great and will be forever immortalised in football and sport in general, but they'll never synonymous with their sport. There will always be discussion along with 5 or so others. The other 5? Aside from Schumacher (which is debatable) theres not much competition.

What I love though is that you pretty much place those 7 (incl CR and Messi) in a different league of winners.

1. Your average winner. Somebody who is so good at their profession that winning is a bi-product of their ability. People that think they know how and what it takes to win, but ultimately are big parts in a big machine and may not have had the opportunity to be as success had things not happened a certain way;

2. Predatory Winners (next level above). People who get just a whiff of victory and go out and win in any way shape or form that produce the incredible time and time again. These guys are just a different animals and I feel like its hard to describe why they're different, but they just have this aura about them.

Everybody loves a winner but Tiger, like the two Michaels, were aggressive, imaginative risk-takers, but who could back their performances up, with uber exciting skill levels.



What makes Tiger unique compared with the mentioned icons is that he has been successful in his comeback.

That was the uniqueness of the event we witnessed last night (other than Langster.)

From the expected success as a prodigy golfer to uber success as a young adult -- then the fall from grace and into the wilderness -- and now another major, 11 years later... Jordan, Schummie etc never quite achieved that.

Its a Hollywood story.

I think golf is a little unique in that its got a wider scope to provide that platform to be successful at an older age. I think mentally both Jordon and Schumacher were as good at this age as Woods, but I think the physicality of those sports is far more draining on the body and in Schumachers case, the variance in equipment can hugely determined your success.

I also think Golf rewards risk like few other sports. You have to be methodical at times, but there are few sports where at the very least, you get 3 chances per hole/lap to do something incredible (and in reverse, something terrible) which can make a tangible impact on the entire outcome of a tournament. F1 you can set a fastest lap, basketball you can shoot 3 pointers or make a dunk, but neither of them have moments like the 16th hole in 2005, or hitting a pinecone on the 15th for Molinari today, that can blow something wide open.

Further, golf generally speaking, is won or lost in your head because if you are able to moderately keep yourself fit and able to drive, chip and putt because equipment adds very little to overall performance at that level. Its why the likes of Woods Golden Bear etc can win the major trophies into their 40's and maybe even 50's. Yes its becoming more physical (basically on the back of Tiger), but as we saw today/yesterday, Tiger Woods gave an absolute Master Class in intelligence and understanding of how to win rather than athletic performance. I think if you equalled the machinery in F1 and relied on those underlying qualities, Schumacher would have shown in his comeback, just as much intelligence as Woods did.

That doesn't take away from what Woods achieved because its absolutely amazing. I hope those young guys were watching today and took note because they got absolutely schooled in how to attack that golf course, or any golf course for that matter on the final day. This wasnt Tiger leading by 2 shots from the outset and the whole pack chasing him for once. This was Tiger in the thick of it trying to get ahead. His attacking play today was just surgical in its execution. That to me is why this weekend was so special considering he's barely played in 5 years. It's like he hasn't sat back in the last 5 years dwelling over himself. He's studied all of these players, found their weaknesses and attacked it. I know i've crapped on about it, but its why his shot at 16 for me was the shot of the day. It really was a "you've lost on the course and now im going to beat you in your head".
