Bored in work so I'm starting this thread early.

Anyone going? Looks like headliners are Radiohead :boring:, Ed Sheeran :boring:, and Foo Fighters :cool:.

I think I'd refuse to go to any festival that has Ed Sheeran as an outright headliner.
 
Is Ed Sheeram confirmed? That would be proper shit. At least you're confirmed that there'll be better acts on some of the other stages.

Meh on Foos as well.

I've nothing against the lad, he's clearly talented and has enough fans to be considered a headliner. He's just bloody dull.

Well Glastonbury haven't confirmed it but The Sun (I know) said it's 100% a done deal.

I've always wanted to see the Foos, but considering the huge number of better bands that could take that slot, I'd be disappointed. Luckily I got myself a Saturday ticket for Isle of Wight. Arcade Fire :drool:

Lame. I'm going to Glasto for the second time, can't wait. Wouldn't be bothered if I didn't like one or two headlines though. So much is happening there you're hardly going to have a shit experience.

Yep, he seems likeable enough and I generally don't have a problem with him but he just doesn't count as a headliner in my eyes. He could sell millions more and he'd still just be "that sound ginger lad" in my mind.

Compare that to a festival like Rock Werchter where Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Arcade Fire, Alt-J, Kings Of Leon, Linkin Park and System of a Down have already been announced along with a few others. Even if you don't like all of them that's still an impressively heavy line up.

My second time too. Just disappointed as I didn't go see any of the headliners last year either, was hoping for a Fleetwood Mac or something similar.

I agree totally, but wait until the full Glasto line-up is out before really judging it. It'll feature at least half of those and a whole lot else that other festivals could only dream of. (I hope...)
 
We used to sneak in for years, then jumped the huge fence for two years, then managed to get fake catering passes for a few years. Then finally paid for it for three festivals now all together, so I feel like I've paid something back. As the lead singer of Radiohead you'd think I'd just go in the easy way.

Just to say I'm not Thomb Yorkes really, so please no autograph requests or offers of sex and stuff.

I haven't been for a few years now and it kills me. This year I didn't realise my registration had run out :(

If we don't have any luck in the resale I'll be working there in one capacity or another.

I only ever went once. 1987, I think. Elvis Costello was headlining.
My main memory is walking around on acid and various other things and having no money left on the last day decided to see if I could blag a free burger. I looked in my pocket and there was only about 20p. Hamburgers 95p, cheeseburgers £1.10 and onions 5p. I thought it would be funny to ask for an onion. He gave it to me for 5p and I stupidly ate it. I felt like shit for ages. Not a good thing to eat on acid.
I'd love to go again but i doubt I'll be back in England at that time of year again.
 
Thoughts on the line-up so far? Some absolutely excellent bands on the smaller stages announced so far as well as a few lower down on the main line-up. Quite excited to be honest. Just need a timetable now to know what I can do while avoiding Ed Sheeran on the Sunday night and I'm set.

Sunday looks really disappointing. Lots of acts I want to see clashing on Friday/ Saturday, then much less on Sunday.

Yeas was there for the Eskies last year. Confidence Man are 3am on the Friday night, so will head down to Bimble after that.
 
Gutted to miss it again this year. Really had difficulty getting tickets for 4 year so now, only got tickets in 2013 because someone I know had a back door to see tickets.
Great line up, not at first glance but look beyond the main stages and its brilliant
Two and a quarter hour radiohead set is going to be mega on my telly in my new extension!

I wasn't overly fussed about not going this year until it dawned on me that I would of been going tomorrow if got tickets :(.

Hope weather holds up does make it so much better when it's at least not raining.
 
Electronic music-wise, I'd recommend Hessle Audio, Leon Vynehall, Cab Drivers, Ian Pooley, Steffi and Viriginia, Prosumer, Dungeon Meat, from what I've seen on the lineup. Don't think most go for that kind of thing though.
 
I live just down the road from it and it's called Pilton festival to locals! Haven't been for years though as far too commercial these days. I miss the days you could jump the fence or get someone to drive you in on the back of a truck for a fiver.

Whilst I'm not really a fan of his newer stuff, in all fairness to Ed, he did put a lot of graft in to get where he is. It's just once he got there, he went very, very commercial, and some of the stories about his latest album and the writing process are, frankly, laughable.

His music may well fall largely under the Radio 1 banner, but I think saying he didn't work hard is a bit harsh. Not like he just trotted onto X Factor and got lucky.

Same here. My daughter loves his music and I like it as well. I just managed 10 minutes of listening to the dirge being served by radiohead when I decided to turn over. My daughter saw Clean Bandits so I thought I'd turn over for her. I'm enjoying their upbeat fun music straight away, and they're much better on the eye.

I dont like Radiohead, never have done, Clean Bandit are good.
Currently have Top of the Pops 70's on much better than Radiohead.

I did like Radiohead though I don't think they deserve the worshipping they get. Trying to decide, Dizzy Rascal or Major Lazer next.
