Glasgow rumour - Virgil van Dijk

I see Celtic have agreed a fee with Dinamo Zagreb for a CB called Jozo Simunovic. I wonder if this means Van Dijk will definitely be off. I still think Southampton is his most likely destination.

@Mali_Zeus Is this Simunovic lad any use? Surely better than Lovren :D

Word is he's shite I'm afraid. A journalist who watches Dinamo regulary said he's crap and we have a lot more talented players coming through. From what I've seen he's plays like a headless fly.
Then again maybe he'll prove to be good and his shiteness is due to his age, don't know. Celtic should go for Ćorić or Pjaca if they're buying at Dinamo. :)

Btw is it true it will be the 3rd most expensive Celtic transfer?

Sounds like a typical Celtic signing so. So a back line of him, Boyata, Blackett and Janko should be full of laughs.

Come to think of it, he's similar to Lovren who had half a season at Dinamo doing good and then went for nice money to Lyon. Worse part is Šimunović wasn't even as good as Lovren at Dinamo.
 
Everyone can relax: SSN just announced he's signed a 5 year deal at Southampton.
 
Great signing for Southampton. In a year or two he'll be off to a bigger club for a massive fee.

If he keeps progressing like he has done over the last 3/4 years, then yes, that may well happen. I'm sure he will get international caps pretty shortly and his stock will rise. I'm sure Southampton will be delighted they won't have to play Yoshida anymore. Losing Alderweireld was a big loss for them.
 
Statistically the best defender in the league this season according to Whoscored, makes me wonder why LVG didn't try for him because he surely must have been scouting him in his role as Dutch coach.

Can't help feeling that while we are messing around with players like Ramos and Neymar that we are missing out on players like this guy.

He's 1.92m too which would have been very useful at setpieces.

Not bad for £13m.
 
Martial destroyed him when we played them. That's my main impression of this guy. Haven't watched a lot of Saints games this season though.
 
Was he not the reason why Saints conceded 6 to Pool?

Liked the look of him at Celtic. Saw him live a few times when Celtic came to Aberdeen. Far, far too good for the SPL. He just strolled through games. Opposing strikers would just bounce off him.

At Southampton he's had as many good games as bad ones. A real mixed bag of a season so far. Sometimes he looks like the best in the league, in others he looks like the worst. I think he's capable though. Great technique and physically he looks very good. Just needs some consistency.
 
Definitely not good enough at the moment. Wasn't called up for Holland under Hiddink and Van Gaal, and looks average at best for Southampton.
