Full metal jacket
Enemy at the gates
Apocalypse now
Blackhawk down
Bravo Two Zero

Black Hawk Down - Based on real events, but told with hollywood flair. A bit preachy and one-sided, but that's to be expected. Action packed ride that the war fans would appreciate.

Platoon - Gritty and raw. The Classic young soliders story of being trapped in a fecked up war they never wanted to be a part off.

Saving Private Ryan - A bit too hollywood at times, but still right up there as one of the greatest war films ever made.

Hurt Locker - Intense and uncompromising look into the mind of a war junkie. Terrific lead performance!

Generation Kill - Probably the most real account of war ever. Soldiers that talk and act like Soldiers and not cardboard cut outs.

The Thin Red Line - not recommended for the action kiddies, or those with ADD. Watch it for the visual mastery of Terrance Malik.
