Yep, that was my first thought, but from first view I thought this was probably worse, but It would be good to see it again.

I don't think he did. From that gif it looks to me like he jumps with his foot raised but knee bent, in an obvious attempt to get the ball. He then extends his foot (so his studs face Rosicky) to try and trap the ball. He then sees Rosicky (look at his facial expression) and brings his studs down they face the ground, so as to avoid putting his studs straight into Rosickys chest.
I've only seen this gif so I could be way off base, but I'd say he jumps, realises he's going to kick Rosicky and does everything he can to minimize the damage.
That challenge hasn't been mentioned anywhere.
I don't see an enormous amount of difference between the 2, except that the Madrid player does not seem to making any attempt to win the ball. He just seems to be getting in the way. My guess is that if he had been attempting to win the ball too, then it's no foul?
