Need some advice as i am not up to date on the latest phones etc - other than the iPhone. I wouldn't mind a android, my mum recently got the Samsung galaxy s2 - seems a great phone - looks similar to iphone but skinnier.

Anyone recommend me with anything good that's out currently in the market, thinking of getting one in a week or so.

Hard to argue with the Galaxy S2. That, or the HTC Sensation. Both dual core monsters.

While on this subject, what are the best phones for battery life? I don't make or recieve many calls (we're talking two or three a week on average) but whenever I need to use it the bloody thing has run out of power after just a few days. Any of these new smart phones that are good for running for a long time on standby?

Why no iPhone?
I also have an HTC desire and that is an excellent phone too.

Have I misunderstood or have you and Biscuit? I took it to mean he is up to date on the iphone but not on the competition, not that he was ruling it out altogether.

so have I , read it again and I think he is saying he is up to date with the iPhone , not he has a problem with it.
In that case I would be tempered to wait for the Iphone 5 to come out , but that is not till Nov.

Samsung Galaxy S2 feels so cheap though. Every Samsung phone looks the same and looks a bit cheap. The screen and OS is fantastic though.

However I personally prefer the HTC Sense to the TouchWiz.

Looks cheap? How do make it look expensive? It's a phone and it's limited what you can make it look like when you try to get the biggest screen possible and still make it slim.

I have a HTC Desire HD and it is perfect for me. Does everything I want and more. I never went for iPhone as I knew I'd end up spending alot of iTunes!

The problem I have with the design is that the far cheaper Samsung Droid phones and this, the most expensive one, look identical.

Galaxy S Plus

Galaxy Neo

Galaxy Ace

Galaxy SL

And so on. Only the Nexus and Nexus S seem different in terms of design.

It's just what works. Just like with the iPods. There is only one main button and two touch screen buttons to deal with. The only thing they could change really without fecking up the design is offer a variety of colors. They should really do that. Probably will when it's been in the market for a bit in the US.

They could try out some different designs. HTC has atleast some variations in designs for their phones.

iPhones don't change their design but they look sleek and smart but the Samsung phones have a great OS and glass but really could look a lot better. They have a slightly cheap plastic look.

I had a Galaxy S and absolutely hated it after a while, it'd freeze all the time and seemed to always use 230MB RAM for no apparent reason.

Not in the android genre. HTC sensation, desire, evo and incredible all look pretty much the same.

Even when they look similar atleast they look smart. The Samsung phones have a cheap feel about them at timed.

Still don't know what you mean. It's the same as every other company. The design doesn't vary that much between products. At least their not ugly. That's what's offputting.

It's not hard to grasp what he means. The Samsung phones generally look tacky and cheap compared to the likes of HTC and Apple.

I don't know about "cheap", but the Galaxy S2 weighs significantly less than my Desire HD, which has the same size screen. Some people would see that as a plus.

No it doesn't. There isn't a big difference. Both phones are black with a big screen. Both are of the same shape. Both have buttons at the bottom and the speaker line up top. Same with iPhone. Button at bottom, speaker up top.

iPhone is clumsier to hold because of it's oval sides. Samsung doesn't have that problem because it's so slim. Haven't tested HTC phones.

They fixed it with number 3. People kept dropping them because there wasn't any grip. Or was it number 4 that they changed it?

Oval means the same as curvy right? As in not flat. I'm not talking about the whole phone.

Yeah, the slight convex back the old iphones had. Not there with #4 now, flat and awesome all over, 'cept the corners, but everything has curvy corners.
