How close was that Leicester offside!!
I’m convinced by the time that ball leaves the passing players foot the attacker would have already run offside!
see this is the common misconception, its not when it leaves the foot its when the foot strikes the ball

I know, that’s what I meant but worded poorly. It should be when it leaves the foot.

If it’s when it first makes contact the type of pass will skew the offside. Player could be onside when it touches passers boot but 5 yards off once the passer does a scoop pass.

And then we’re relying on frame rates to see when it’s on the passers boot, it’s a mess

No, there was one maybe 2 inside the box along with an arsenal player, all on the opposite side to the clearance.
mot had every part of the body got to be outside the box, these grounded feet are outside no doubt

How do you post that picture and say "one maybe 2 inside the box" ?
About Leicester's winning goal, good thing the defenders didn't see or didn't react to the flag because that would have been very awkward. They really need to stop raising it unless it's perfectly clear. They have nothing to gain from it especially at the 96th minute...

It’s a bag of shite alright.

The next thing we will see is when a player wins the ball in a 50/50 the players will pass it around for a while so it’s not classed as ‘phase of play’ should the team that won the ball go on to score.

The fact Mings didn’t celebrate is proof it’s taking the passion out of the game from the players to the terraces to the fans watching at home. It’ll kill the game. Absolute wank.

they've been told to

Won me money today so I love it, was waiting on Leicester.

Because I honestly don’t know whether we judge it by their feet or any part of the body. Do you? Does anyone?
If it’s their feet, then yes one maybe two are inside. If it’s any part of their body inside, which I find ridiculous then yes there’s more than two in there.

No point complaining the genie is it of the bottle. Only way VAR becomes viable is if it becomes the official ref and the ref on the pitch simply relays VAR’s decisions on everything.

Is encroachment clear and obvious now? But keepers coming of their line on PKs isn't? The whole thing is an inconsistent farce. Either enforce the rules or don't but you can't just pick and choose when you decide to do so.

I love the idea of VAR but the implementation has been incredibly inconsistent.

I feel the it more reflects on the need to go over the rule book of the game, it needs to be more detailed. Way to much is still up the officials discretion/interpretation of the rules.

We were told it was supposed to be clear and obvious but that massively varies from game to game, how having an armpit offside for example offers any sort of advantage I don’t know.

Penalty call correctly overturned in the Leicester game.

Was it correct?

Hear me out - if Chilwell doesn't move his leg there, he leg will get twatted by Holgate. He's basically taking evasive action to avoid injury - which is a foul isn't it?

It was like last year when Pogba got booked for diving when he tried to get out of the way of Noble trying to kick his legs off.

You can't be dealing with "what ifs", it is still supposed to be a contact sport. You're free to dodge everything but you can't be given fouls for something that did not happen. Unless we're talking violence like dodging a punch or a 2 footed challenge. Holgate's swipe is awfully timed but he only wants to kick the ball and gets it wrong.

Looking at the laws:

An indirect free kick is awarded if a player:
  • plays in a dangerous manner
  • impedes the progress of an opponent without any contact being made

So actually - you could argue this should be a IDFK in the box for Leicester.

No footballer should actually be expected to get kicked in order to earn a free kick.

Var back in the good books
Fantastic that we scored, but I have a major problem with the penalty not given initially!
THEN you see if it’s a mistake!
Too many times, VAR has said, unconvincingly, that it wasn’t an obvious mistake.

seriously you are moaning just to moan here, it literally worked perfectly

I’ve seen too many dodgy VAR decisions so far.
A referee that doesn’t give a penalty THAT obvious, is not worthy of being a referee.
Hope Leicester win the league BTW

I tuned in as the var check had just happened so I didn’t see the refs positioning and I’m in favour of sacking most of these refs and hiring the best from around but even the best ref will miss things for what ever reason, VAR worked perfectly so just be happy about that

Been spot on today. The ref would have missed a stonewall penalty if it wasn't for VAR

and people want to feck system off and give the whole power back to those incompetent cnuts, bloody mafia.

No consistency. Another VAR ref would have disallowed that, since it was a clear foul on the gk.

De Gea should be stronger. But that is a foul in every match, for VAR to not reverse the goal is incredibly odd. It will no doubt be on their list of decisions they got wrong, in their next review.

Var, what are you good for?

absolutley nothing!!!

Yeah de Gea wasn’t strong enough but the Attacker made no contact with the ball, just basically jumped into the keeper with arm across his face.

foul one week, not the next. So remind me, what’s the point in it again?

Let’s blame VAR because our goalkeeper is a big girl’s blouse. Righto.

His eyes are closed and his back turned well before the arm goes near him.

That s irrelevant. If the striker uses his arm to hits a keeper on the face, that s a foul all day. No it's and buts
