Gervinho and Chamakh Set To Leave

He cost half the money and half the wages of Ashley Young and has been better.

All in all, he hasn't been better than Ashley Young. I don't rate Young but his low points and high points have been better than Gervinho and generally more consistent as well.

Young may have disappointed in his second season, but it's a serious case of brain fade for anyone who thinks he's worse than Gervinho.

Young is a bigger waste of money than Gervinho. I never really felt he would make the step up from Villa because he was never really good there too.

Gervinho did something and showed some talent and could beat defenders. Young had set-pieces going for him, but he hasn't done much with them here.

What did Gervinho do?

This doesn't need to be a comparison of Young and Gervinho. My original comment was merely that he's shit. Point stands.

Young is definitely a bigger waste of money. But reality is he was a squad player for a championship winning squad and good enough to be in the squad of any team in the league.

Gervinho might have shown a few mazy runs but he didn't do anything or real note and was as I said more of damage to Arsenal than someone who could do a role for them. He was shit and you can see why Arsene is happy to see him go quickly.

I'm surprised Young is considered a bigger waste of money by some here.

At Arsenal Gervinho has something like 65 games, 11 goals, 12 assists.

At United Young has 56 games, 9 goals, 17 assists

Another great post. You do indeed support the team with the superior trophy cabinet. They should write that on your gravestone, "supported a winner, still a total moron".

Yeah but our club has more trophies than yours Eboue.

Moronic it is.

Doesn't change the fact that Ashley Young is a superior footballer to Gervinho. That's not even up for discussion.

So what's wrong with my post? I have nothing to comment on that two shite players of yours. Young does indeed have a PL medal, and you only will have this great Emirates Cup to win this season. feck off if you can't take in the facts

It's not an issue of whether or not I can "take in the facts". If you have nothing to comment on Gervinho and Chamakh, why don't you stop posting in a thread about Gervinho and Chamakh? Personally, I'm glad they are leaving because neither one was up to par. I don't have a problem with Feed Me saying this because he is actually giving his opinion on the subject of the thread. You, on the other hand, seem to be capable only of copy and pasting from the "Honours" section of Arsenal's Wikipedia page. Quite a worthless skill, I'm sure you would agree.

For most of us here, we like to read and discuss things on a higher level than "The group of millionaires from around the world that I've never met wearing red and yellow are better than the group of millionaires from around the world that you've never met wearing red and white". If your input never rises above the level of "1>0, haha you suck", then you'd better get used to being called a moron.

Oh dear, that thread.

I overrated him a bit, but literally don't understand where the comparison to Djemba Djemba or Bellion comes in.

He's a decent player. He has his nightmare moments but it's not like he's abysmal. He showed a lot of glimpses of his talent and scored or assisted enough that he hasn't been a total flop.

Got more goals/assists than any of our wingers last year.

only if you refuse to consider the fact that Young gets to take set-pieces,if it weren't for that Gervinho's stats would be better. Also Young was in a better team which scored more goals, if you take their contribution relative to team performance Gervinho is ahead. Also Arsenal paid less for him and also he had less time to acclamtize to the league unlike Young

Gervinho offers better penetration and has as good stats considering he was playing in a slightly lesser team, and was also getting used to a new league. Young got to take set-pieces (proved to be not very good at them), and did nothing much other than to unsettle our best winger. Young is not good enough to play for a top team on a regular basis and is hence is a waste of money.

Young scored 9 goals in his first season while being out for a prolonged spell with an injury.

Gervinho got tangled in his own feet while attempting to dribble.

Chamakh to Crystal Palace, good signing for them.

Big 20/20 season coming for Young according to Cider.

You're talking nonsense. Gervinho added more attacking wing play to Arsenal's game after Nasri left. He wasn't such a bad player you're making him out to be. He was just a horrible finisher.

Agreed. He did a very good job at Lille and for Arsenal there were times when he looked a good threat from the wing. Then for some weird reason they tried playing him up front when he couldnt shoot straight

Meh. If he can recapture his form from his first 5 months with Arsenal, then yeah, good signing. If he is anything like he was after that or during his spell with West Ham, then he will be an expensive (wages wise) mistake.

That was arguably one of the most ridiculous experiments Wenger has ever tried.

Chamakh was always a mid-table standard player. On a free, it was still a poor signing but you know, everyone does it.

Gervinho is someone I've never understood. There is so clearly something there but the guy is such a confidence player. He is now very much like Walcott at 18. He could go from good to appalling in the space of a single game. Walcott honed his game and has now become a consistent threat/goalscorer but Gervinho at 26 probably isn't going to find that in him.

I wish him the best at Roma. Seems like a good guy, but not for us.
