GEORGE BEST HAS GIVEN UP ON US :-(

George Best has done more for United than any of us has ever done and for that he has my undying admiration and support.</strong><hr></blockquote>

It's just that the blinkered morons here equate mindless heckling of the team during matches and objectively pointing out the flaws in the team in an internet forum to be one and the same.

I think that we would all agree that United are not playing as well as we expect this season, and Georgie is disapointed as we all are. Arsenal have started really well and are playing the exciting football that we are known for, so who wouldn't bet against them right now? They'll have injuries though, and start having back luck so there confidence will be low like ours is now. It's way too early in the season to predict who will win the title with any confidence. I think that Bestie is just showing his frustration with the team by saying what he is saying, and I think it is wrong to say some of the things about him that have been said on here. He loved the club, and still does - good on you George and the best of luck with your recovery.

If Besty wrote this article he is correct. If he didn't write it then whoever did is correct. It is an article written in the last week based on the current situation in addition to the history of last season. I just wonder where the hell some of you United fans have been, and I question do you even understand the Glorious & Rich history Manchester United Football Club has been blessed enough to encounter and live through. Go on you MUPPETS, keep pulling the wool over your own eyes and pretend it's all ok. Then you never need to worry, but I'm telling you one thing, the true United fans tell it as it is but still love their team. Besty's article doesn't make him love United any less; on the contrary I would say he is concerned enough to say it as it is.

......but this is all a waste of time because there are ALWAYS going to be people like you on this forum and going to Old Trafford, who can not look the truth of the current situation in the eye and admit to it. It's a bit like having a brilliant party and then getting drunk again the following morning to avoid the hangover. When it's bad just admit it and get behind your team, but please quite the bull that it's all fine and that Besty is talking nonesene. Go home those of you who are calling him a senile fool, because the only thing such comments indicate is that you're not a strong enough supporter of Manchester United Football Club to admit when they're below par and that perhaps we won't be celebrating like we have done in the past.

You make a mockery of the past 70 years. </strong><hr></blockquote>

Good post that, someone had to say it...

Dear, dear, yet more emotive tripe and tripping out from some posters about Bestie`s comments which not be taken so seriously whether in support or opposition.

Quite apart from the fact that the man would be feeling groggy from the all the medication he is on post-operation (maybe someone ghosted his comments), I think that George was perhaps speaking somewhat tongue in cheek. He has always had a good sense of humour and I think it is possible he was also making an ironic comment on Keano`s dismissal in his book of the FA Cup.

I have to say that I completely disagree with Keano about the FA Cup - Manchester United would have thanked their lucky stars had they relieved the gloom of losing their title and not going all the way in the Champions` League by winning a different piece of silverware. I believe Bestie also disagrees with that Keano opinion - it is a little arrogant and rings hollow after a season in which nothing was achieved.

Bestie`s comment about the FA Cup seems an ironic dig at Keano`s comment as well as being his own opinion, most likely inflated on purpose, regarding Manchester United`s team supposedly being a joke.

My advice to people out there who love to call other people `Muppets` if they hapen to disagree with their own, not necessarily infallible opinions, is to calm down.

Bestie is not the be all and end all of Manchester United observers, and to support our lads by not taking such talk so seriously at this stage of the season seems the intelligent thing to do. But what would a Glory Hunter and Muppet know?

Best has made a good point, Since we have been experimenting with new formations we have been having problems. We need to get back to Beckham wide on the right Giggs wide on the left, and 2 strikers. I mean what was wrong with winning the league by Christmas??? We also need another striker on our books someone in the Sheringham mould. Di Canio?

Best (if he wrote this article) is correct the current team is not a patch on past Ferguson era teams. We are having difficulty putting the ball in the net, we are not even good enough to qualify for the Champions league next time round. On current form we can forget winning anything this season, O.K we beat Leverkusen, but they are not to be compared with the Leverkusen side that knocked us out of the CL last season. Olympiakos managed to put 6 past them. Sir Alex needs to realise that this new formation of Ruud alone up front is ok for away matches against stiff opposition in the Champions league but for all other matches home and away we should stick to the formation 442. Oh and we need another striker. someone like Cantona or Sheringham. I hope I made some sense there.

Forgot to say in last post, Jacqueline, your knickers are twisted.

I like George - and enjoyed the BBC prog. on him last night.

But I think he should be more careful with his opinions bearing in mind the way he treated United.

Hi everyone I am a newbie here and this is my first post.

With regard to George Best's comments, this is the same man who

a) claimed in 1989 that Fergie should be sacked.

b) walked out of the Champions League final on 89 minutes with United losing 1-0 and of course, four minutes later, we were the champions.

So if George Best says we are rubbish and going to win nowt a mere one month into the season, then I am now very confident that we are going to end up winning the League! :D Though I have given up on the FA Cup since George thinks we are going to win it.......

Seriously though, George Best will always go down in history as one of the greatest footballers of all time, but if you look at all the comments and predictions he's made over the last 15 years, he makes a lousy pundit. Of course, this doesn't mean that what he says isn't true, it's just he has an unfortunate tendency to get predictions wrong.

Fantastic footballer though! :)

Regards

we all like Bestie..one of the true legends of European football, shame he was finished by the age of 26, i don't think the UK will ever see a more naturally gifted footnaller..

however, he talks alot of shite about football......
