Gedson Fernandes - off to Tottenham

Had heard of him before but have never seen him play, that said, sign him, my muppoamine levels have been depleted after the Halaand debacle

We'll sign anyone random now that we have missed out on the Norwegian bloke.

We need numbers, simple as that.
If we get him on loan with an option to buy and that seems to have worked out well for Leicester with Tielemans then it could be worthwhile but I had a look at his value on a website and they had it as 15mil euros and peaked at 22mil euros so I assume it is 34mil pounds because we are linked, triple the price when we are involved as usual.

Saw him live last season and really liked the look of him. Pinch of salt though for the fact he's fallen out with the coach, not a great sign at 20...

Looks good, deal sounds promising and easy (if even true)...no chance we get him then.

The Pogba comparisons illustrate how badly people seem to understand what Pogba does. Unsurprising.

This TV Channel in Portugal is saying that Fernandes will be loaned out. Bruno Guimaraes and Julien Weigl will be joining Benfica.

I think Fernandes will join Lyon.

Jorge Mendes is his agent. Last summer Mendes was leaking endless BS to the English media that Bruno Fernandes was hours away from signing for PSG, to try and get a PL club to panic and sign him.

Mendes is forever using Man Utd to link his players to us, to raise their profile. Last summer it was Felix and Ruben Dias. The year before it was endless links to Gelson Martins, Joao Mario and Goncalo Guedes etc

I am a Benfica fan and he is not ready for United at all. He made a good first season (around 6 months) in the 1st team 2 years ago, after that when he played he played very badly and is very clumsy, he barely gets match time now and was injured during the pre season which didn't help. We are looking to loan/sell him so I really doubt if he can't even be a good rotative player in the portuguese league he would be a good signing for a top club in the PL like United.
All I needed to see, cheers.

Maybe Ed is trying a new tactic;
Instead of buying players that look really good in other leagues and do nothing when they come to England we are starting to look at players that cannot make the starting side in their own clubs abroad and see if they can cut the mustard in England.
You never never know!

If Gedson is being borrowed, it's Lyon. Was a report earlier that theyd made an offer

Guys guys.. Please don't do this to yourselves. We already have many midfielders at 18-21 years of age. We need senior presence there with matic herrera felliani sanzhez and co leaving. This is to generate interest. Please don't do this, don't give me that hope.

My thoughts exactly. Our problem is with breaking down park the bus teams and we need good passers for that. This guy and Soumare who we've also been linked with won't really help with that because they are not those kind of players. Our midfield targets who are good passers - Phillips, Maddison, Grealish, won't be available on January

Doesn't look like it. He looks like a dribbler from deep with an engine. We need cm's so he looks a decent option still.

I agree, we desperately need clever playmakers at the club.
Yeah it just doesn't make any sense. Every midfielder we sign will take up a spot. And I think we need to prioritise passing, playmaking and vision in midfield now.

Mendes another agent other than Raiola that we should avoid.

Even if we were seriously in for him, has he been thoroughly checked?

After all, we did turn away De Ligt because his dad was overweight.

I just feel that until he's been thoroughly checked in terms character and desire to play at the highest level, he's just another flash in the pan.

We've had plenty of the types of players in the last few years.

I'm tired of seeing mediocre Everton level players don the United jersey. Our midfield is shit no doubt but I'm not in favor of getting another average bloke in the squad.

What do our Portuguese contingent on the Caf make of this?

Loan deal with the option to buy for a lot less than his exaggerated buyout clause. I look at the situation of Tielemans when he came on loan from Monaco; player with talent but inconsistencies in his game and temperament. But has looked a key midfielder for them this season.

Representatives have spoken to 4 English clubs.( Sky sports )

We really have fallen haven’t we, remember a few years ago we were being linked with midfielders such as Thiago, Kroos, Fabregas etc. now it’s fecking Sean Longstaff and unknown kids from Portugal.

Rooney played in midfield today, assist one and pinged a 50 yarder that helped with the second. Gotta be worth at least £40m in today’s market?

He'll be linked heavily with us, fans will get excited despite never seeing him play, the youtube "Welcome to United" compilations will start and he'll go to Lyon.

Spoiler alert.

I'd take him and send them back Lingard.
Rooney all day long instead of him

Who is this guy? Not heard much about him until the last few days.

I know we haven’t signed anyone decent in midfield for a while and we have thin options, but what makes this guy a justified purchase?

I would say there are plenty of better players that would be prioritised over this guy.

Hes a child that can't get a game for Benfica.

76 million bid incoming

Please, no. Bruno Fernandez instead of this guy please and no more Lingard

He put a post on instagram with the crossed hammers emoji - I'd say that we've been used to put his name out there and west ham have took the bait and he'll go there.
