Gay as feck - BOSE...

Man how the hell you pretend to hear good music in Spanish if you are not from a country that speak the language.

Music should transend language, I enjoy lots of foreign music, but have said I haven't heard any good Spanish stuff, I would love you or Weaste to change my mind, I'm open to all recommendations.

List away.

Depends what you like. Music comes in many forms outside of pop. Try Ketama, Tomatito, Camron. If that is not to your tastes, we'll try some more.

This is not the point I was making however. People will not accept music that where they cannot understand the lyrics. This is quite different to the rest of the world who gladly accept music in the English language whether they understand the lyrics or not.

Never heard of them. Probably from Spain. They got funny names anyway

Mostly you would be correct in that summation, but that would stem from the fact most other countries speak English as a second language, therefore it's not a huge step to listen to our music. It is however a larger step for people to get enjoyment from music where they can't understand the lyrics being sung.

Depends on what music you wanna hear, there are so much styles that you can get crazy. I can get lost on how many styles of music we got on here.

Reggaeton, Romantic balads, pop, salsa, merengue, bachata, etc...

More people speak Spanish as a language on a regular basis now than English. Crazy but true. If you can speak the two, you can basically go anywhere. It's not German, and especially not French which for some weird reason punches well above its weight and gets away with it.

As for understanding lyrics, that should not matter, in fact it is a very bad reflection upon musical education in the country where I was born. Do you need to understand An die Freude to enjoy Beethoven's 9th? I hope not!

For me personally? No, but lyrical content for most people is an important issue in enjoying music. For example, if you're listening to a heartfelt ballad being sung, how can you fully understand the sentiments behind the song without understabding the lyrics? It could be about anything.

Most of my experiences with foriegn music is in the Trance, Techo and Ambient sides of the dance world so lyrics aren't important in that regard for me so isn't an issue.

Most modern ballads are full of sentimental nonsensical crap and have been for a long time.

We'll take some good examples of very successful ones (I quote from Internet sources):

Remember when we held on in the rain
The night we almost lost it
Once again we can take the night into tomorrow
Living on feelings
Touching you I feel it all again

Chorus:
Didn't we almost have it all
When love was all we had worth giving?
The ride with you was worth the fall my friend
Loving you makes life worth living
Didn't we almost have it all
The night we held on till the morning
You know you'll never love that way again
Didn't we almost have it all

The way you used to touch me felt so fine
We kept our hearts together down the line
A moment in the soul can last forever
Comfort and keep us
Help me bring the feeling back again

Chorus

Didn't we have the beat of times
When love was young and new?
Couldn't we reach inside and find
The world of me and you?
We'll never lose it again
Cause once you know what love is
You never let it end

Chorus

What the feck is that? It makes no sense!

Try again:

There were nights when the wind was so cold
That my body froze in bed
If I just listened to it
Right outside the window

There were days when the sun was so cruel
That all the tears turned to dust
And I just knew my eyes were
Drying up forever

I finished crying in the instant that you left
And I can't remember where or when or how
And I banished every memory you and I had ever made

But when you touch me like this
And you hold me like that
I just have to admit
That it's all coming back to me
When I touch you like this
And I hold you like that
It's so hard to believe but
It's all coming back to me
(It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now)

There were moments of gold
And there were flashes of light
There were things I'd never do again
But then they'd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than any laws allow
Baby Baby

If I kiss you like this
And if you whisper like that
It was lost long ago
But it's all coming back to me
If you want me like this
And if you need me like that
It was dead long ago
But it's all coming back to me
It's so hard to resist
And it's all coming back to me
I can barely recall
But it's all coming back to me now
But it's all coming back

There were those empty threats and hollow lies
And whenever you tried to hurt me
I just hurt you even worse
And so much deeper

There were hours that just went on for days
When alone at last we'd count up all the chances
That were lost to us forever

But you were history with the slamming of the door
And I made myself so strong again somehow
And I never wasted any of my time on you since then

But if I touch you like this
And if you kiss me like that
It was so long ago
But it's all coming back to me
If you touch me like this
And if I kiss you like that
It was gone with the wind
But it's all coming back to me
(It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now)

There were moments of gold
And there were flashes of light
There were things we'd never do again
But then they'd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than all your laws allow
Baby, Baby, Baby

When you touch me like this
And when you hold me like that
It was gone with the wind
But it's all coming back to me
When you see me like this
And when I see you like that
Then we see what we want to see
All coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies
All coming back to me
I can barely recall
But it's all coming back to me now

If you forgive me all this
If I forgive you all that
We forgive and forget
And it's all coming back to me
When you see me like this
And when I see you like that
We see just what we want to see
All coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies
All coming back to me
I can barely recall but it's all coming back to me now

(It's all coming back to me now)
And when you kiss me like this
(It's all coming back to me now)
And when I touch you like that
(It's all coming back to me now)
If you do it like this
(It's all coming back to me now)
And if we, , ,

Daft again! In fact worse!

Look into my eyes you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do I do it for you

Look into your heart you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am take my life
I would give it all I would sacrifice
Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it there's nothin' I want more
Ya know it's true
Everything I do I do it for you

There's no love like your love
And no other could give more love
There's nowhere unless you're there
All the time all the way

Oh you can't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you Ya I'd die for you

Ya know it's true
Everything I do I do it for you

Is that even a ballad?

I feel it in my fingers
I feel it in my toes
Love is all around me
And so the feeling grows
Its written on the wind
Its everywhere I go, oh yes it is
So if you really love me
Come on and let it show
You know I love you, I always will
My minds made up by the
Way that I feel
Theres no beginning,
Therell be no end
cause on my love you can depend
I see your face before me
As I lay on my bed
I kinda get to thinking
Of all the things you said, oh yes I did
You gave your promise to me and i
Gave mine to you
I need someone beside me
In everything I do, oh yes I do
You know I love you, I always will,
My minds made up by the
Way that I feel
Theres no beginning,
Therell be no end
cause on my love you can depend
Got to keep it moving
Oh its written in the wind
Oh everywhere I go, yeah, oh well
So if you really love me, love me, love me
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it
Come on and let it (come and let it show, baby)
Come on, come on, come on let it show baby
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it show, baby
Come on and let it show

feck, it's simple, it's alright, but number one for 14 weeks or whatever it was says a little.

A lot of my experience is with symphonies, so it's the same. I can from this however click well structured music to badly constructed sequences of sounds that they like to call music.

I bet this song is Nº1 in Argentina because Marcos downloaded it 6 million times to play on his Bang und Olufsen.

never heard of that guy

i asked my wife and she said she thinks he acted in an almodovar movie

his music is atrocious

if you want to hear something good from argentina, check this:

Sorry, but it's simply copying late 60s - 70s Anglo Saxon music!

that's what i'm talking about when i say that -in music- spain is not "our culture"

our musicians inspire in english music

strange that a country that in the past did nothing for music, during the second half of 20s century gave the world 90 percent of the best musicians

Matador is a classic song from the 90's...

I liked Vilma Palma e Vampiros. They were class

"Bye Bye" is a song to chill.

Hey Weaste here is a monster of a singer from Mexico, one of the best singer on America and i think Marcos will agree with me. His name Luis Miguel.

Contigo en La distancia. Holy shite mate just listen that song.

This is romanticism :smirk:

Quite a lot actually, but that would need a new thread.

As for the producing the best musicians after that.... that depends on what type of music you are referring to and what you define as musicians.

well, i obviously mean popular music

i'm talking about the beatles, the rolling stones, pink floyd, genesis, led zeppelin, yes, jethro tull

Here's another cnut that is always on the radio and TV that you cannot get rid of, but this is classic nonsense pop to get your missus dancing and hurt your ears.

Does my head in!

you are taking the worst examples of spanish music, is like if i talk about Posh and her idiotic female group -can't remember the name of it-

i like some sabina songs, his lyrics are excellent, the same about los rodriguez -although their leader is an argentinian-

I gave some examples of certain Spanish music in text that is quality if you like that type of thing.

Spice girls? I wasn't giving a good example of Spanish music, although your rejection of Bose is strange because you seem to like either Anglo Saxon tribute bands or a lot of out of tune trumpets.

David Bisbal was a cnut that came second in a TV show to take part in the European Song Contest about 6 years ago. The girl that won it had an amazing voice, fat bird, bombed in the Eurovision and has never been seen since, where two of the talentless ones go on and have careers in music. Very strange to say the least!

i don't reject bose, i just don't know him, never heard of him, maybe he's big in europe, but here in argentina -as far as i know- is unknown

about bisbal, IMO he does the kind of music 15 year old girls and unhappy married women wants to hear

An interesting point is that although it's pop, I think that is of a higher quality than the stuff coming out of the British Isles at this moment in time. Which is seriously worrying. British music at this moment in time is total crap, I've never known it so low.

you are right there, and i was thinking about it the other day, and i think is that i don't like the kind of music that's now on fashion -don't know if i explained myself-

what i'm trying to say is that i love rock, i love soul, i love punk and i like modern jazz. but i hate the new rhythms -rap, tecno, etc.-

listen to this song:

if you don't like it, i'm pretty sure your wife will :p

Well, I like it, because I like all music* and even the missus has Lágrimas Negras de Bebo y Cigala.

* Music should never ever be something to get snobby about IMO unless it does not conform to the basic rules of music, which most modern stuff does not. I do not mind pop, I have CDs in my collection that go from Bach to Metalica - it's highly diverse and covers basically all genres, but it's basically all quality, outside of taste. All types of music have their purpose, some to relax and enjoy for its complex beauty, others to dance around like a nutter when pissed, others to shake your head around to if you had long untidy hair (I guess that would be fun), others to practice air guitar with, etc.

It interests me however how the popular production values of Hispanic Music has come along. It's basically there with the Anglo Saxon stuff no matter what the music is.

I was lucky enough to be in my late teens when the late 80s early 90s Manchester thing happened. Absolutely brilliant, and many of the bands you saw live never made it to record deals, and some of the were better than some that did get record deals. Load of crap.

Anyway (listen to at least one and a half minutes in).....
