Gavi for Free in the Summer

Interesting.
If he were to leave, it'll possibly be for City or Bayern , though I wouldn't rule out Arsenal.

He loves the club and Barca will find a way to get him registered.

They'll probably find a way to keep on to him but if not he'll be a great utility option to have if available.

Barcelona seem to always squeeze out of situations like this I swear, but if there is an opportunity we should be all over it.

Sign him up alongside Lavia and our midfield suddenly looks very interesting.

If there’s any truth in this he would have his pick of clubs.

He's not going anywhere. Why are we expecting a club to be financially responsible when they know they can get away with it?

What the feck is Barcelona at the moment. Just close that club down

Your meme is not far from reality:

2003:

"The former presidential candidate, Luis Bassat, gave an interview to the newspaper Marca in which he reviewed the options for the presidential candidacy years before and why he was left out.

The former candidate revealed that a very important person in FC Barcelona at that time told him the following: "And how do you want to be president if there are many things you don't know?"

To which Luis Bassat replied: "So far I have defended myself well. What is it that I don't know?" To which said important person from the club retorted: "For example, how to buy a referee"."

Barcelona always find way. Even if they don't, he will go to one of the top clubs, like City or Bayern. Or PSG, depending on where his priorities lie.

Presupposing City don’t snap him then up, then it’s likely Chelsea will be making enquiries about him along with de Jong.

This. De Jong is the one they should please cancel so we can swoop. His girl will come round eventually. Maybe even literally.

It will be funny if De Jong stays at Barcelona at the expense of Gavi. I'm sure the Barcelona ultras will really appreciate FDJ digging his heels into the ground and forcing out their homegrown lad

Will the kid really play for free though?. I think it's quite possible Barcelona could engineer a way to keep Gavi. He could play for zero wages but pick up a hefty loyalty bonus in a few years time for his loyalty in difficult times.

More than a club ey?. Chickens are coming home to roost in the summer boy.. :smirk:

Some comments from the Barcaforum

This kid is all personality and absolutely guaranteed that if he stays in Barcelona (and he probably will, seeing as his type crashes and burns in EPL) he'll be yet another Pique milking the club for all its worth to self-aggrandize.

Hope he stays and he gets a good accidental boot to the face to make him rethink the antics.

Too good to be true, chihua will never leave while Xavi's here.

Rather have more qualty than those moments really.

On the contract.... that is on club for not resolving sooner but doubt he wants to go anyway.

30 odd passes at 75% last night.. same old issue getting on ball and lacking quality on it as been case most of season.

Gets forgiven a lot due to age and being la masia though.

Miles off FDJ and Pedri.

You can't do that I'm pretty sure. There's a certain maximum drop % in wages in La Liga when signing a new contract that you can't ignore — that's why they've lost Messi (his original wage was so high that they couldn't register his contract even though Messi himself was willing to earn even less than that legal minimum that they've offered to him).

"The salary can be lowered, but due to the financial control rules, each player has a margin for a reduction depending on different variables, such as age, experience and titles," a league spokesman told ESPN. "So you can neither play for free, nor with a 'lower' wage than what should correspond to said player in a normal market. This is essentially to avoid fraud and ensure that the salary is paid via the correct tax routes and not with 'intangible' money."

I do think that he's a bit overrated though — at least he wasn't good enough to win Golden Boy ahead of the likes of Musiala & Foden. People do like to draw comparisons so he became associated with Pedri as the successors to Xavi - Iniesta which is a bit favorable to Gavi as Pedri is an all-time great talent and Gavi is not.

I'd still take him here, mind you, he'd be able to match Fred's intensity while giving us way more quality on the ball. But he won't be my dream signing (hopefully if we somehow end up snatching him he'll end up proving me wrong).

He struggles to get on the ball but his intensity and quality for his age are really something. Definitely seems like a Spaniard who would do better in the Prem than La Liga.

Would be a fun signing. Add in a DM and sell McTominay and keep one of Sabitzer or Fred and you've got a promising midfield next year:

-------------------------Bruno(Gavi)----------------
Eriksen(Fred/Sabitzer)-Casemiro(DM)

I know nothing about this at all other than to say a way will be discovered so that Barca don't lose out.

He can take over Phil Jones' role as Man Utd's head tackle specialist.
