Gary O'Neil | Sacked by Wolves

At the moment he seems to be a quick fix guy rather than a long term appointment. He's lost 52 of 100 games managed and his teams average 2 goals conceded per game in the league. He will have to step down to the Championship after this I reckon.
A big part of that is this season, his CB options are pretty shit. Last season Wolves went from fighting relegation to 14th.

Ooh guess who we’ve got away in a few weeks time.

Came here to post that. This news is a bummer for whichever unlucky bastards get to play them on a new manager bounce.

When was the last time we played a team right before their manager got sacked? Because we seem to be constantly playing teams right after.
New managers first home game would be the game against us.

If they get relegated, it would be one of the more talented squads that got the drop. Another notable one was Leicester season before last.

It felt like he had to go after basically calling his players shite in the post match interview. Either that or he knew he was gone and decided to go out with a bang.

The writing was on the wall. Wolves is a solid mid-table team and they should never been in this position. Good call to sack him.

40 goals conceded in 16 games is quite incredible really. I agree they didn’t back him properly in the transfer market.

I think this is the case it’s been reported that we have been sounding out other managers. No one in their right mind would think they would stay in a job after these results.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's presence at their game yesterday makes sense now. Or maybe he was there to catch up with Keiran McKenna.

No, it’s a coincidence. It’s the latter (apparently).

No PL job again for him in the short term at least

Our boy Jose will fix this. Make them solid defensively and make them a counterattacking team.

There’s been rumours that they’re chatting with him.

I seem to remember they lost their first game of the season and he was smiling at full-time. Knew something was off. As if he had already decided their summer business was shit and he wouldn’t take any of the blame. Weird guy.

Was just showing off his teeth in fairness

Lopetegui had his home debut with Wolves against United in late December 2022. We'll see who will it be this time.

Yeah that was a remarkable interview - looked utterly finished but determined to take everyone down with him.
