Washed up player teaming up for a washed up manager. This Bale myth for RM needs to stop, he's been a peripheral player for 4-5 years now. Bale didn't win the CL for RM when he contributed zilch in the knockout stages ffs. It's like saying Eder won the Euros for Portugal. Football fans love some absolute reductionist logic.
Anyways, my prediction is he will be injured for no less 3-months and not score more than 12 non-penalties in the league.

Thinking about it, if Mourinho actually thinks of playing him as a typical winger hugging the line it'll be a disaster of a signing already, and weirdly, I actually think Mourinho will make this mistake like he the one he made with Sanchez here.

Will be interesting to see if he plays on the right of the front three and help defensively. Watching the Everton game, Moura does a lot of hard work I feel. Also Doherty played really high up the pitch and I do wonder if that right side will be really vulnerable?
Exactly this. 30m to loan a 31 year old for a season. Crazy. No doubt he’ll have some spectacular moments, he’s still a very good player. But I doubt he’ll play more than 25-30 games, and Mourinho’s approach is so stifled, he won’t spend enough time in the areas where he can do the most damage.
I think Bale is a great Mourinho type signing and if he can stay fit, provides Spurs a big new source of goals and assists. This deal has some similarity to the Zlatan deal we did a few years back - a low-risk free transfer deal on very high weekly wages (I don't think it will be more than 250k a week, TBH).
Bale is younger but more injury-prone and more disconnected as a footballer. If Bale performs well, Spurs can extend the loan and will have got a very good short term fix out of nowhere.

The way spurs played against everton, they have much deeper problem that won't be solved by Bale.
He hasn't played much for 2 seasons and considering his history of injuries, I am wondering if his body can handle the demands of the premier league.
Typical Jose Mourinho transfer. Unfortunately, I think he would do well for them. Everyone seems to give him shit but he is still a quality player. It's not his fault that he is being disrespected at Real Madrid and what can you do if you manager shafts you out? Of course, you're not going to care.
Bale is not the player he used to be. His breathtaking acceleration and top speed are a thing of the past and on the ball he was never the most technically gifted player which only gets accentuated by his physical decline. And we haven't even talked about all his injuries. Sure, he'll score a handful of incredible goals with his left foot but aside from that he will offer very little.
Then again Mourinho teams never press and Bale offers next to nothing against the ball so maybe they're a good fit after all.
I dont see him as a play every match player anymore, those days are probably behind him. I dont think you can expect him to play 2-3 games a week for 90mins, but not a bad squad rotation player to have that is for sure. The caveat is if he can remain fit, a big question mark there.

Yeah, but when Kane is on the pitch everything runs through him. United last season had a genuine front-3 (Rashford, Martial, Greenwood), whereas Spurs play to Kane, so understandably he scores more. I'm not saying Kane is rubbish, but I think he peaked about 2 years ago, he could well return to his best - but based on 19/20 I'm unconvinced.
I really like Son too, and would happily take him at Utd - but Bale is like Kane in that he peaked a while ago, is injury prone, and needs to demonstrate that he is capable of regaining anything close to his best form. I would have taken Bale on loan if Real paid the vast majority of his wages, but I'm really glad we didn't go for him at the reported wages etc..

However, he has lost a step or two and tends to pick his moments in games these days, offering a couple of select flashes each match to try and make the difference.
He’s not at Messi levels of walking about and being a defensive passenger though. Giggs has actually had him playing quite wide and working hard for Wales, and he’s shown he’s certainly not above doing that work for the team, but his offensive output has definitely slowed down.
I expect a lot of quiet, steady games for Spurs with some very good performances mixed in but, baring any injuries, I don’t think he will be the disaster many are predicting. Unless, Jose.

That is true. I am not saying he is a bad signing. I meant he might not really be the solution to the issues at Spurs at the moment.
I think he’d be a good signing for Spurs. There’s still a quality player in there and a front 3 of Son, Kane and Bale is very exciting for spurs fans.
I’d easily prefer the latter group.
Remember when people laughed at Madrid and then Bayern for buying Arjen Robben as he was so injury prone at Chelsea? Well Bayern managed to get a lot of games out of him, so the injury prone tag cant always be a true indicator of a state of a players physical limits. Mourinho is known through his training to generally not have as many injuries to players under him as other managers. It might be down to players not being pushed physically to the extreme or his insistance that all training exercises involves the ball.
Spurs never replaced ercisson, and lack that ability to unlock a defence that he provided, bale will provide that. I think mourino will use him in a 10 role behind kane and leave the wings to moura and son.

Robben was 25 when he moved to Bayern and was a top professional. Bale is 31 and is a professional golf player.
I remember reading once that bale is the highest paid football player in the world in terms of wages only and that Messi and Ronaldo are the 500k range.

If we aren’t getting Sancho I would have taken a chance on him. However the fact Spurs are paying his full salary they welcome to him. He’s never worth £600k a week even for a one year loan.
This will be very good signing for Spurs (depends on what % of wages they pay), they will have Kane, Bale, Son as their attackers which will be too good to handle for most teams.

I've no doubt many, many teams have considered this. It's a 50/50 of extremes alright. The best Bale could well fire spurs up the table, revitalise mous reputation and restore his own on the world stage. The worst bale however could well be the final nail in the coffin of the side poch built, mous top level club career and see himself packed off to China never to return.

Dele Alli is utter garbage. He was playing out of his skin under Poch the way SAF had players like Cleverly playing out of his. Alli is overhyped and had one top season, debatably two. His true level has showed the last year or two.
Bale will most likely be on the sidelines for most of the season.
Kane doesn’t look the same player as he did a few seasons back.

I think Jose is trying to win fans over with this. Bale is quality when fit but this is a physical league and there'll be no hiding place. His injuries will limit his effectiveness bu what may cause problems are his wages
Son is a better LW than Martial there’s no argument.
Son is much better at LW than Martial. It would be between Kane & Martial for the CF soot, depending on how you would want to play. I would probably go with Martial myself, as he adds more to the build up I feel & brings more players into the game. Kane is more lethal but goes missing much more. Son is a must start.
Their midfield is sort of non existent though. And Delli Ali I don't think is great for them either.
Son sure but Kane needs service. Adding Bale there is good on paper but it screams like a team of individuals rather than that of any sort of chemistry. It's a reminiscent of his time with us. Just playing good players together without a game plan (although it was probably worse with us, because he rarely played Rashford and Martial together).
They have Lo Celso who has done very well. Lo Celso, Hojbjerg, Sissoko/Winks is a decent midfield.

True, they look void of all fitness like we did under him. Whether that'll change in a few games I'm not sure but to me, they looked like the Jose side at United, not much pressing across the pitch and sat in to make it harder for the opposition to break them down.
Yeah, it's more the Jose point. On paper another manager will maximize their potential but Jose is proving out of touch with them, for the time being at least.

Just watched the documentary and they finish talking about long term recruitment goals, and then in the summer sign a nearly 29 year old right back, a kid that has a buy back clause and what’s to go back to Madrid, and an unmotivated, injury prone 31 year old former player on gargantuan wages. Couldn’t be more Mourinho.
