Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

Bale is 100% going to Real Madrid, sounds like someone has just thrown our name out there for the hell of it.

A player is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for them. It's called a bloody Transfer Market after all.

With 1 year on his contract, Nani is worth £10m. That's about how much he'd cost, if someone was seriously after him.

Rooney wouldnt move to a club without CL football though..

I don't suspect he would, but it would test his assertation that he wants to leave and be the main man elsewhere. Spurs would offer he a start in his favoured position each week. If that was his only option with which to leave then he would have to decide what was his priority, Champions League football or a regular starting role in his favoured position and getting away from a club which makes him angry and confused. Going to Spurs and not being in the CL wouldn't affect his England chances at all so he has no worries on that front. We could also be assured that Spurs wouldn't resell him to Chelsea.

On a purely footballing front, minus the CL, Spurs are a good proposition specially if they keep Bale. Add Rooney to what they have and they'd actually challenge the top 3 tbh. It wont happen though, CL football and wages will see to that.

Wouldnt say no to a Rooney+cash deal for Bale personally.

Pretty sure that 70m plus Nani rumour came from caughtoffside.com

That's the second time today, what have I done to offend thee so?

Your only sin was that you posted around the same time as me. I randomly picked posters who's names I saw on the page and added Glaston to the list.

Such method to my madness.

Madrid are still waiting for movement on the price and are apparently getting cooler as the deadline day approaches. It could be just a negotiating stance, but I suspect there's more to it than that.

The Telegraph are reporting that Ancelotti has told Perez that he doesn't need Bale and he isn't planning/preparing with Bale in mind.

According to that:
United manager David Moyes admires Bale, but the club remain wary of making a formal offer because of concerns over Tottenham’s willingness to sell to them and the lack of encouragement from the Welshman’s camp that he would consider a move to Old Trafford.

I think it would appeal to Levy because losing Bale would be a very negative deal for the club when they are trying to push on, but signing someone of Rooney's stature would certainly lessen that. I don't know how intense Rooney's desire to leave is. Would he take the chance of no CL football for a season with the hope that he could help Spurs qualify for the following season. If he is as intent on leaving as the press would have us believe then if the option was stay or go to Spurs then you'd have to think he'd consider it.

All fine except Chelsea will offer him the wages he wants, CL football and seemingly the regular starts - I've no doubt his agents and Chelsea have spoken.

Spurs could never afford him - its that simple.

There's absolutely no way Rooney would ever join Spurs. They couldn't afford his wages to begin with.

Fair enough, can't argue with that! :D

Because that was just Press nonsense. There has been a lot of it.
Well considering Cavani, Falcao etc, can't see it being that far from the truth. Especially since Real are known for being able to get their man for stupid fees. Given todays market I'd not be surprised if Bale goes for some amount north of 70m.
3 years left on his contract, 24 years old, coming off from a great season...

I'm sure they have, but if he is going to leave you can bet Chelsea are last on the list of options. I seriously think we'll keep him rather than sell to them, unless we can strengthen our squad to such an extent that it becomes less important, and by that we're talking Rinaldo, Bale or Fabregas.

I agree, but my point was that it hasn't happened anything like the wild speculation. Ask Glaston, he is never wrong and has predicted that Bale will stay. :boring:

Spanish football gossip show Punto Pelota say Real Madrid have offered 87m euros (about £75m) cash for Bale or 98m euros (including bonuses?) over 4 years. Spurs turned it down and Madrid are now waiting for them to change their minds.

Spurs really should tell them to piss off for anything other than a one-time payment.

United are making big noises that he's not for sale - but seem to be inventing injuries so he doesn't have to play.

If Chelsea make a huge bid United have two options - accept it, or turn it down and lose him for much less next year. Either that or lash out a huge new deal, which he's done nothing to deserve and will be a PR nightmare.

The straight fact is nobody else who can afford him seems to want him. He wants the move. The club stand to benefit, financially if Chelsea pay a huge fee and by not paying wages to an unhappy player. He isn't playing now. All points one way.

If he goes, he goes. Chelsea might get something ou of him for a couple of years but I think there is. Good chance we've seen the best of Wayne Rooney. He's played a lot of games for a lad his age, niggles are increasing and he needs to be 100% to be the player he needs to be. The club might feel that money can be reinvested elsewhere.

Agree with that. Hey should tell Real what they want and by when. If not they risk losing him last minute and not having time to get a deal done for replacements.

Spurs have told them what they want and by when and it's more than the 75m quid cash Madrid are willing to pay and includes Morata or Jese who they don't want to sell. Hence the wait.

Lets be honest but Madrid really do not need Bale.

It would just be dick swinging because Barca got Neymar. If anything it could create problems trying to shoehorn players into incorrect positions.

I mean sure if they bought him it would be a nice problem to have, but I think Ancelotti is more than happy with Ronaldo/Di maria/Isco/Ozil/Benzema etc.

Wish we would bid for him.

The fee would be heavilly inflated but it would very likely prove to be worth it long term

You say it over and over, hopefully you do realise that we cannot spend £80m+ on a player?

Apparently the Sun is running a story saying Bale's told his Welsh teammates that he won't be appearing in a Tottenham shirt again.

United cannot or will not?

Woodward, the successor in the chief executive’s chair to long-serving David Gill, yesterday revealed that there will be no financial limit on an individual player Moyes may target in the transfer market, up to and including the world record of £80m. Asked if United would be willing to pay £60m, £70m or even more for a player, Woodward replied: “Yes. Absolutely.”

As I've said before this is classic Madrid. Talk big numbers to press, club and player, unsettle the player, then as soon as the player is hooked on a move try and drive down the asking price.
