Gareth Bale | Golfer, ex-Footballer, Elbower of racists, ***********, Golf Ambassador, Bar Owner, Real Legend, Defibrillator

So how much did this cost Spurs? At least 300k a week and a loan fee?

Why strange? He has a contract there so why wouldnt he return. The intention was always to go to Spurs for a season play some football and get fit for the Euros. I also dont think Spurs have any intention of making it a permanent deal.

he won’t play there. They don’t want him, the fans hate him. I think it’s a case of spurs not wanting him tbh.

What a disaster of a transfer. They could make a high profile signing and pay less in installments over 12 months.

25 appearances with 10 goals so far is hardly a disaster considering his fitness issues for the first 5 months. This is a mountain out of a molehill - what did people expect him to say? There will be a decision made at the end of the season and if he wants to go back to Madrid he can and if he wants to stay with Spurs and we want him to he will stay.

25 games 10 goals is Sky’s take on his loan.

Stats aren’t bad but majority of his goals have been the EL and the loan has cost £20 million

Cavani has 26 appearances and 7 goals.

I know it's apples and oranges but it's Bale's record isn't that bad.

He hasnt been an awful signing. I think it really depends on who you're comparing him to tbh.
If Cavani leaves after a year, we'll have invested quite an outlay on his signing on fee and wages...

Haller had 14 goals in 51 appearances for West Ham. They've taken a £25M loss on him and that's not taking into account his wages for that year and a half.. ..

He scored 5 in the league and Cavani scored 6.
10 total for Bale and 7 for Cavani. 25 and 26 games respectively.
They both had a lot of injuries as well.

Pretty much similar output from both at the end. No winner here.

Goals v minnows and nobodies though. Plus you couldn't even play him for a long time v non farmer opposition since he forget how to play football and even now his good run looks to have peaked after 3 odd weeks.
Its 20m to get him fit for someone else. It wasnt even a cheap option.

The idea of him going back to collecting his money at Madrid next season is honestly pretty hilarious. Sounds like he's lost his appetite for club football and only cares about playing for Wales.

Of course he's going back to Madrid. No one else is going to pick up those huge wages. He'll ride the bench for another year, cashing it in. Good for him.

It'll be interesting to see how much Mourinho plays him for the rest of the season. He had a nice run scoring against minnows in late February and early March but his effort levels in the NLD and the second leg against Zagreb were pathetic. His exclusion against Villa, even with Son out of the side, seemed pretty telling to me and I can totally see Mourinho making him the new villain. Maybe not the best situation to get fit for the Euros after all.

So he never wanted to be at Tottenham in the long term ? I thought he was motivated to win some stuff there and rebuild his career back up.

Mourinho can try to make him the villain but Bale is God level at ignoring that stuff, he honestly does not seem to give a feck what anyone thinks or what the media writes. I understand from my Cardiff mafia that the plan is another year of mega wages and golf in Madrid and then he has his eye on a move to MLS where to be fair he could put in his current effort and look like prime Messi.

You can see his heart's not in it. Or maybe he just can't be arsed. He's had a couple of games where he started to show what he's capable of but he's never going to perform on a regular basis.

Hmm, not so much a love of Spurs then, more just match fitness for the Euros, then back to the sunny golf course.

Still, the boyo will always be lauded in the valleys.

Wales, match fitness for Wales (thanks Spurs), golf, Madrid

Stats are fine, the problem is cost, he is worth nowadays probably about 70-80k a week. Any more and he is taking the p*ss. Injury prone, lost that blistering pace, can probably only get away with playing once a week.

Is it me or does Bale remind you a little of Super Saiyan 4 Goku from GT?

No worse than Cavani

Cavani came in as cover. Bale came in as a big "coming home" game changer.

Cavani has had more impact than Bale.
Especially when you take away 2 Bale games recently where he scored 2 goals a piece and massively hyped his stats.

What is 'games' played? It doesn't mean anything. If I play 10 minutes as a sub in 10 games, the stats will say that I've played 10 games. Another player might have played 70 mins in 10 games, and he too will register as having played a game. For obvious reasons comparisons on 'games' played can be wildly inaccurate. However, by minutes? Much better.

Cavani - 1,366 mins, 7 goals and 2 assists.
Bale - 1,280 mins, 10 goals and 3 assists.

It's fairly close, but Cavani's played only 86 minutes more than Bale, however, Bale has been more productive than Cavani. There's other considerations, of course, such as contributions in general play that aren't necessarily measured statistically, but on the whole Bale hasn't done badly at all. To put it in context, Rashford has played roughly a 2,000 more minutes than Bale, with 18 goals and 12 assists. If Bale played 2,000 more minutes and kept up his current minutes-per-goal rate, he'd have 30 goals in all competitions. Obviously he won't play 2,000 more minutes, but in theory.

Its no surprise that players wants to be fit for the Euros, but there is no need to come out and say it like that.
Nobody is giving Bale advice?

Jose was the wrong manager for Bale at this moment in time. You look at how badly Jose managed the likes of Fred, Pogba, Rashford and Shaw. Player mismanagement at it's finest.

Dumping them on the bench like a spoiled child unless they were greatly impacting every game, without realising that sometimes certain players need a run of 10 or 15 games to find their confidence and match rhythm. It's possible Bale may have thrived under a Pochettino, a manager who will keep backing him when playing poorly, knowing he will find his form as his confidence and fitness improves.

I honestly feel that Gareth Bale really doesn't care what anybody thinks. He is a multi millionaire with a cast iron contract for another year & has shown that if he has to sit in the stands & drag down 600,00 a week, that's ok as well.
I think he would like to be paid out on his contract & is letting Real Madrid know that he is in the drivers seat.
Maybe, just maybe, clubs might learn a lesson on giving players multi-million, multi-year contracts.

I fear for Kudela with his next opponent
