It may be 10 years old, but its still the best game to be released on the pc

Classic game, I remember a cheat I used on Zone so I could play as the Persians every dm:D

What clan were you in? You know the michi map? I do it on that. Its basically a map where you have trees between you and your enemy so you dont have to worry about being rushed. I could never do it on open map I think that would be impossible. I haven't played in about a year though online, so I dread to think what times I would be hitting now! I might still have records though I am not sure

[NZX] clan. We'd almost always play blind random or Arabia, sometimes Oasis for fun. We weren't that good and two of my clan hated each other which made each game a quest to get the highest score rather than beating the opposition. Haven't played recently either, the first thirty minutes of every game was almost always identical which made things really boring.

I was in Adix and then _RU_ > . We used to have a clan member form NZ called Shaun if I remember. I think i am going to re-install it again tonight, Arabia is brilliant. If you ever play it again I will give you a game, see who is th worst player!

Ignore Richter, dm is for gimps who dont know how to play aoe properly. Its the map Jose Mourinho would play if he was an aoe fan.

I despised death matches, they were usually for people that lacked the patience or the skill for random maps.

1 on 1's are always great fun; if you don't kill off your opponent within the hour it inevitably becomes a drawn out six hour seige involving spearmen, halbs and hussars, usually ending in someone resigning from boredom. I won't have conqs until I head back for uni in a month but might be keen for a game then if I can be assed installing it.

Ouch that one hurt;)

Games in the world of Star Wars are good.

Jedi Academy, Dark Forces, Knights of the old republic, Tie Fighter...

a few others that haven't been said and that are slightly old but still modern...

Max Payne - a great shoot em' up novel - if you haven't played it yet get it.
Hitman - is a good game as well - stealthy kinda' game - there was a film out recently about it too.
Project IGI - was another shoot em' up where you go on designated missions.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - well you know what this is, good for a bit of random fun.
Fifa 2008 - good footy game.
Grand Prix 4 - Formula one racing game.
Need for Speed Underground 2 - street racing game
Wolf3D and if you like Age of Empires II you may like Command and Conquer Red Alert.

For shooters I'd recommend:

System shock (get some graphic updates), before Bioshock.
Half life series (including the magnificent Portal)
Deus Ex
Thief series
S.T.A.L.K.E.R
Rainbow six series (apart from Lockdown)
Call of duty series

A lot of the above you'll get for dirt cheap and are unmissable.

I am not a fan of FPSes but i highly recommend Call Of Duty 4. Hitman's pretty fun as well.

GTR 2 is probably the best racer on the PC.

The Orange Box is well worth £24 from Asda. Team Fortress 2 is one of the best online games I've ever played.

COD4 is a must for any gamer on any platform.

AOE3, Asian Dynasties is good as well.

Depends what you are into I guess.

There is an old game called Gangland which is a great game.
Cheap FPS, look at Medal of Honor, and get the Spearhead expansion. Thousands still play that online. And its very good.
Get yourself a Nostromo N52 Key pad. A must for all gamers.

Best PC game of all time? According to a select few who lost a large chunk of our lives to this game in 2001/2ish and especially if you include the Bloodmoon expansion.........TES III: Morrowind. Nothing has ever come close to the feeling of playing through that game for the 1st time. If you have 4 or 5 months with nothing to do (FAO students) and want immersion, freedom, intriguing story/quest lines, good graphics for the day, a huge....really huge map with shit loads of random NPC's and 20x better than Oblivion, amongst other things then play this game. But I warn you....kiss goodbye to your life for a while.

i love that game. grim fadangio was pretty good as well

Those Lucasarts 'adventure games' are true classics. Loved the Indiana Jones ones and that one with the bikers as well, but Monkey Island 2 was probably my favourite. I replayed some of them recently, it was still fun but it's too easy when you have an internet connection as you'll be tempted to just look up the solution in a matter of seconds.

I used to really enjoy playing this game called "Magic Carpet 2" when I was a kid.

Full Throttle. fecking classic! I've still got it here somewhere, I might have to crack it out soon ;)

This the one where you flew around on a carpet fighting others on carpets and building up your castle on a large map? I played that for a while, decent game.

Cod4 was a big disappointment

also any other cod4 stylish game out there? or some good sniper action genre ?

i downloaded AOE it got stuck on 99.8%, i still managed to open the game somehow install the no-cd Crack, but it's still asking me to insert the bloody CD

Hammer meet nailhead.

Oh, and if you want just one game that will totally dominate your life then just get World of Warcraft.
