Gallas to Spurs?

Same. There's an obvious downside to him and he isnt the best he ever was. But still better than a lot of defenders in and around the top clubs. I see there's mention of Italian clubs looking at him, surely he'd have been a pretty good signing for Spanish clubs too ala Carvalho.

Doesn't the fact that he's gone to Spurs after Arsenal and Chelsea suggest that he wanted to stay in London?

And what would that have to do with interest from Spanish clubs? The Italian ones were interested. And sometimes players change their minds when a good offer comes along.

Good to see Gallas finishing his stint with Arsenal after winning a few well earned trophies and covering himself in glory as a Gooner captain, great career move.

That Cole swap was a brilliant deal.

No one was mug enough to meet his wage demands...until now.
As I've already said, it seems he's signed for Spurs for a lower wage than Arsenal offered him to stay ... so your comment looks like a failed attempt to re-write history.

I think he's a good signing for them, though if I were a Spurs fan I'd be concerned about his attitude. That game for Arsenal at Birmingham was a disgrace.

But yeah, he's still a good defender, and he has CL experience aswell.

Very good signing for spurs I reckon. Strengthens an area of the team where they're light on reliable quality and brings some experience to the side. Smart business - he's still a quality player most of the time, even if he is a nob.

A top class striker is the only thing that lacks for Spurs to have a team that is good enough to establish themselves in the top four now I reckon.

Excellent signing for them, he is(still) a very good defender plus the fact the he has got tons of experience in Champions League should help Spurs if they qualify for it.

Hmm, not sure about their central midfield myself. Huddlestone and modric is no partnership to be winning you tough games. It remains to be seen whether Palacios can get himself back into form after his personal tragedy last year.

Potentially a very smart move by 'Arry. He'll add experience and on his day quality to the defense.

That's unless he has a trade-marked Gallas episode of feck-wittery. Which is highly likely.

Confirmed now on the Spurs OS:

"We are delighted to announce the signing of William Gallas on a one year deal.

The France international was part of the Chelsea side that won back-to-back Premier League titles as well as the League Cup in 2005. His performances during Chelsea's second Premier League-winning campaign saw him included in the 2005/06 PFA Premier League Team of the Year.

The former Caen and Marseille defender, 33, left Stamford Bridge after five seasons, during which he made 213 appearances and scored 14 goals, to join Arsenal in September 2006. Gallas captained the side during the 2007/08 campaign and went on to make 145 appearances, scoring 17 goals before leaving at the end of last season."

 He took less money to get away from Arsenal?!? And it isn't because he wanted to move to sunny Spain or back home to France because he's staying in good ol' London.

Wow, that's an unhappy camper. Gallas has always had a temperament problem, both on and off the pitch.

His move to Tottenham is just to show that you can't always get what you want.

Probably still has the chance of going to Spain or France in the Champion's League/Europa League.

He's perfect for them, a leader, quite a good CB, and someone with a chip on his shoulder when it comes to Arsenal and Chelsea - your rivals. Same way Adebayor loves to screw over Arsenal now.

If a player's contract is about to expire and you want to get rid of him (as PS claims was the case), you don't offer him a new contract, far less one worth "£80k/pw for a year or £50k/pw for two".

It was exactly the same as Joe Cole and Chelsea, we would have liked them to stay and were offering them the same terms as they were on previously but they were take them or leave them deals with no room for negotiation - if either or Arsenal or Chelsea wanted to keep them they knew what to do.

He's certainly not a leader.

With the exception of a few moments, on the pitch he certainty has it in him to be a leader. We saw in the group stages how, without King, their defense falls to shambles because no one out there knows how to direct them. Gallas has the experience and certainly the mouth to organize the back 4.

'arry might make him captain tomorrow.:eek:
That is what is being reported from 'arry's own mouth and he is serious

Was he lamenting the result in respect to Arsenal after the final whistle? He seemed down, he's not that classy.

Did Gallas ever captain Chelsea? If yes, this would be some amazing stats - probably never to be repeated.
