Breaking news on SSN this minute that Gallas will have a medical at Spurs tomorrow

henrywinter #Gallas heading to #THFC, according to Sky. More fuel for the north London Derby fire. Another twist to the drama of the #EPL season.

Gallas to Spuds?

Couldn't see this anywhere else:

We offered Gallas £80k/pw for a year or £50k/pw for two. I think he's very unlikely to get a better financial offer. I also think he's pissed us right off.

This thread now has the endorsement of a Gooner, definitely the superior thread.

So he'd have played for the 3 major teams in London. Spuds, Arse and Chavs. Anyone else managed to do this?

Would be a good pick up for Spurs and possibly the end of the road for Sicknote Woodgate

Good move by Spurs, with King and Dawson being constant crocks they can certainly use an experienced centreback like Gallas.

Would be a great signing for him. I take 'Arry as being a no nonsense character who could get two solid years from Gallas while trying to keep his ego in check.

Bye bye Woodgate? Still think they need another solid CB. Dawson is good enough but the rest are sheep to the slaughter at times.

Dawson looked quite rubbish vs the Young Boys. I don't think he's good enough for europe so from that point of view Gallas is a good signing.

good signing, and a bit of revenge for campbell going the other way

Not much, Campbell at that point in his career was an absolute beast, and went on to win things at Arsenal.

Gallas is a defender in his 30s, starting to pick up injuries, and most importantly a complete pussy.

Was he? I thought he and Vermaelen were pretty even, both also seemed to chip in with some crucial goals.

Well I've seen a few Arsenal fans on here suggest Gallas was their best defender. Wouldnt be too surprised if they'd deny it given these events

Fair enough...With his head on straight, he is still without a doubt a good defender. Still got a bit of pace about him, strong and reads the game well enough. But, Spurs?

Has to be out of spite...hehe

Chelsea to Arsenal to Tottenham.

That's loyalty for you. What a prick.

It seems as if Arsenal have also pissed him right off in return, since it seems he's signing for Spurs for less money than he was offered at Arsenal:

.... Gallas will sign a one-year deal with an option for a further season and although Redknapp did not reveal what the wages were he insisted money was not the chief attraction for his new man.

“I think he could have earned a lot more money at Arsenal and he could have gone to a couple of Italian clubs,” said Redknapp.

“He's never asked a lot. The chairman's signed a one-year deal and the wages are more than reasonable. He was keen to come to Tottenham. If he plays X amount of games he gets another year.”

In terms of talent it's a brilliant signing but you have to wonder what he is capable of doing in terms of team morale.

Revenge for Campbell? We obviously wanted shot of him. He played well last season but he's always picking up thigh strains.

 He took less money to get away from Arsenal?!? And it isn't because he wanted to move to sunny Spain or back home to France because he's staying in good ol' London.

Wow, that's an unhappy camper. Gallas has always had a temperament problem, both on and off the pitch.

Because it was known for a while that he wouldn't take that sort of deal and there was no way we'd go any higher.

He's definitely a step up for your lot though considering what you have currently. Let's see how he handles himself.

If a player's contract is about to expire and you want to get rid of him (as PS claims was the case), you don't offer him a new contract, far less one worth "£80k/pw for a year or £50k/pw for two".

That was in May. Since he couldn't get a better offer he was back cappie in hand and we told him to feck off down the Seven Sisters Road.
