I hope he does well at Chelsea, he always turned up for United and gave his all, even for the reserves. Its a shame it didn't work out for him at United, I really wanted it too but alas hes at Chelsea now and it doesn't seem his form has improved but its early days.I watched through gritted teeth just in case he scored but yeah still looks the same. Although knowing my luck he will be top scorer next year.
You know what though good luck to him I do still wish he would have come good here but it wasn't to be. Same feeling I had when Di Maria came I was so excited but now I just think he is a spineless Cnut! Galaticos don't always mean you get an instant legend.

I have a feeling we will get a PSG player in return. If so I hope Lucas Moura but I have a nagging feeling we might get Zlatan (I hope not) but it would set the place a buzz!
Rarely ever happens. Lucas would probably be my pick as well, it would have been Verratti but we've reinforced the midfield now, I like Marquinhos as well.
Just can't see us going for Zlatan because where does that leave Rooney? Zlatan would have to be the main man and that would mean Rooney back in #10 but all of the noises coming out say he's going to be our main striker. Not to mention the obvious difficulties arising from a LVG and Zlatan relationship.
I don't think we will, but if we are, the only 2 players we should be looking at are Marquinhos and Verratti.
Ibra will never come with LvG here, Moura will not be an upgrade on what we've got.

I know there has been no mention I just got the feeling with Ibra saying it might be his last game for PSG and the delay in the Di Maria move. Just thought it might mean something else going on as part of the deal. It wouldn't surprise me as most clubs are desperately trying to keep their top talent or their talent pool high that we'd ask for a player from them. Just a wild guess on my part and I know it's more likely wrong than right.

I'd like to see us try to strike a balance between our two most recent transfer strategies going forward - basically Sir Alex's preference for going for younger prospects to develop but without the cheapness that saw us signing the likes of Obertan and miss out on Hazard. Aim for bright prospects that cost a bomb if necessary, just get them in rather than established stars who won't bother themselves anymore since they've already done it all, or aren't playing for an eventual move to Real.
Galacticos clearly don't workout for us. For this reason I was encouraged earlier in the window when we were being linked to younger players rather than the likes of Bale; getting someone in who cares about the club might be too much to ask for, but someone who cares about building their reputation like Ronaldo did might be possible. Sure we'd still end up with our share of Andersons and Nanis, but i think it has a better chance of success then expecting rejects from big clubs to try their best for us.

Di Maria was a hard flop, yes. Falcao was obviously past it. Who else comes close to being a top shelf signing since Veron?
Galactico means world beater. They work anywhere.
If you did more research into the most expensive transfers, you'd be aware that the success rate is no better than 50% even at that level. Paul Tomkins has done tons of work in this area. Shevchenko was a superstar when Chelsea signed him. Kaka was a superstar when Madrid signed him. And so on. The best players get old, they get injured, sometimes they don't fit the system used by the new team.

How many galacticos are there in the world, and who are they?
Every player that has been bought for over €75 million or players that will command over €75mill.
Potential galacticos is what we should be targetting. Players like Griezmann, De Bruyne, Reus. Maybe even Felipe Anderson. These players won't come cheap, but it's not like we dont have the money
Probably stupid but I think our squad number announcements may give us a hint as to whether we've got plans to make a big move before the window shuts.

My view:
Ronaldo, Messi, Bale, Ibrahimovic, Suarez, Neymar, Hazard, Muller, Aguero ... think these would all be considered Galatico signings. Its basically the best players in the world at the time.
Potentially / Maybe - fees definitely would be high and have the names for it if transferred:
Pogba, Neuer, Sanchez, James Rodriguez...... Di Maria / Falcao would have previously been close too that (last yr)
Galaticos back in the day - Beckham, Carlos, Ronaldo, Raul, Figo, Zidane ..... Carlos and Raul potentially not considered due to not being bought in that era.
I think that when Falcao and Di Maria signed last year, they were both considered Galacticos.
I still remember when Di Maria signed, people couldnt contain themselves. And when he played his first few games, some could not believe that a player of his ability would be playing for us.
Even up to the last few games of the season, people were urging LVG to play Falcao and believed that he would score 2-3 goals. People still believed that he was a Galactico and no doubt, some still do.
I still think Di Maria is a Galactico and I expect him to show his class at PSG.
Falcao on the other hand would struggle to score in the Championship, but he is a mercenary, so he will play for whoever will pay him the most. This year, its Chelsea.
Not sure I would call Falcao a mercenary. I believe he has been moved around a lot due to Mendes and his 3rd party ownership. When he signed for us I remember him saying he was tired of being moved around so much and wanted to stay. I hope he does well this year because he seems a genually good person.

Sanchez no, James is in Reus/Griezmann tier, otherwise pretty much spot on.
I'd add David Silva, Vidal, Robben, Ribery, Busquets, Lewandowski, Modric, Benzema, Costa, Courtois and Fabregas to the list.
