Gai Assulin signs for City | And now he's been released

City's "elite development programs" strikes again.

Their EDS was fookin shite this year. The lost every game in the next gen series ending up as the worst team to take part.

As for Assulin, there must be something wrong with his attitude. According to a City fan mate he also had a lot of injuries this year, he is really really small too.

Speaking of the Next Gen series, I've just found out that only United among England's elite have decided not to take part in it next season. Can anybody shed some light on as to why?

Gai was overhyped...He had quickness/pace, some technical skills on the ball and decent workrate...But his skills were inferior to others, constantly injured and his end product just never materialized...Perhaps worst of all, he had Pini Zahavi for an agent...For me, he was a train wreck and would never shut up about his chances until he pushed his way out of the cantera...Vowed he's show his quality at City which we now know is rubbish...Now he's suing the club for some fees he claim was owed to him

For every Pedro, Cuenca, Tello etc., there is usually a Gai Assulin that crashes & burns

I still get a kick out of those old 'next Messi' articles that were prevalent

I saw him play live last week in the reserve cup final. He looked like City's most dangerous player for about 20 minutes, making a few penetrative runs. That said, there was no end product and he duly disappeared before being subbed off.

I wonder if he will spiral into obscurity now.

I bet...He played on the wings in the cantera where his sole responsibility was to harrass the defenders into a turnover and then get into position to score or set a teammate up...He never truly got past working out how to win a ball off a defender...He had the speed, stamina and quickness to create problems but it never amounted to anything

Truth is, everytime I saw him in the cantera, I failed to understand what the hype was about...Up until recently, I almost felt similar about Deulofeu - but thankfully he looks to have turned the corner
