Friendly - United vs Doncaster

I think this side will suffer from the same problems we have few years ago when the season starts, basically too many midfielders and short of attackers. Basically we only have Elanga, Stanley and Haygarth as attackers and I don't think the latter two is ready to start regularly. Actually surprised that we didnt try Hooweverf or Sotona during preseason as the U18s have a bit too much attacking options on the other hand.

But that time was also what helped McTominay develop if I remember correctly. We played him upfront due to lack of strikers and it really developed the physical side of his game.

For Sotona it was some kind of problem with contract I think. And for kids abroad that should be around U23 like Hooweverf and Emeran, maybe the problem is with isolation after coming back from abroad? Or they have injury problems?

Emeran is with the u18s for pre-season.
Yes, he scored a few goals, but I guess that he will move to U23 once he get games as he missed whole season with injuries. Mejia and Hoogewarf not with U18, so could be injuries or isolation?

If we can get 3 of them to first team level that would be excellent to be fair.

I have a similar feeling to be honest regarding Levitt and Garner. Levitt has a really nice composure and forward passing ability. He protects the ball well and always looks like he has time. I think he'll adapt immediately to senior football.

Garner is a bit more box to box and eye catching but he always seems less in control of what he's doing. I can see him struggling a bit more in a fast pace tight midfield environment. Of course there is the the possibility that he adapts his game accordingly and becomes a top player. But Levitt looks closer to me right now.

Agee with this - Levitt is a beautiful player to watch. Proper footballer.

Garner is another one who kicks the ball incredibly well, but his positional intelligence is severely lacking in modfield; he reminds me a lot of Phil Jones in how chaotic he is, charging about the pitch like he’s in a school playground. Ironically, whenever I’ve seen him playing centreback, he seems to read the game well and generally be more measured - am I wrong to think he played the majority of his academy career there until circa16/17? His ceiling might be higher if he takes a step back into there.
