Honestly, last year he was the dream, but now he'd be the cherry on top – possibly next year. I think it should be a higher priority to find a relatively affordable but reliable enough (direct) cover for Casemiro and get an at least decent striker in. If somehow the money fountain resurges, go get him if you can, but now Frenkie wouldn't be building your spine anymore, he'd be enhancing it. In my (most recent – you'll probably find contradiction if for some reason you scroll through my history) opinion, get your baseline as high as possible, to avoid more of the Case-reliance, but also to avoid as much of the Brighton/L'pool/City debacles as possible. Becoming the dominant side in those games would be the step after that, for which Frenkie would be one of the most excellent options out there.
Kinda funny how he's shown to be more reliant and consistent this past season, than possibly ever, but now he feels less of a necessity as he did even last winter.
