After seeing some names in another thread I thought I’d collate some of the players available on a FT this summer:

Leroy Sané - 28 - RW
Alphonso Davies - 24 - LB/LWB
Jonathan David - 24 - CF
Heung-min Son - 32 - CF/LW
Jonathan Tah - 28 - CB
Angel Gomes - 24 - CM
Tariq Lamptey - 24 - RB/RWB
Matheus Reid - 29 - LB/LWB

A few good options I think…

Considering the club wants to come away from signing aging players, I'd say Son would get a max 2 year contract for example.

But there is 3 i can think that would help boost club depth at the very least. I think Son might have his best days behind him and the fact alot of his qualities are related to the fact he is an engine type player, how many miles has he left. We saw how fast Park Ji Sung fell off.

Davies will be out of reach and I feel Sané wouldnt have much interest coming back to England. He didn't seem all too happy at City near the end.

Is it mad I’d take all of those? Apart from maybe the bottom 2

Davies if his wages aren't too high and David has always piqued my interest. I'd have taken Lamptey a while back but he's had some long term injuries I think (?)

Leroy Sané - Really liked him in his City days but doesn’t seem to pull up any trees in an often free scoring Bayern. Getting on a bit and would only come here as a last payday - PASS

Alphonso Davies - huge opportunity to get a proper wing back on a bosman. Provided his wage demands are reasonable he is an obvious target - YES

Jonathan David - has always performed well in the stats but has always padded his goal scoring with significant number of penalties every year. On a free he’s worth a look if we can offload Zirkzee and Højlund starts to show something. If Højlund doesn’t then I think we need better - MAYBE

Heung-min Son - if he was a couple years younger then absolutely. Still a super silky player who would be a great role model in the side, plus commercially would be interesting for South Korea. Think he’ll extend anyway. - MAYBE

Jonathan Tah - heard he was great last year for Leverkusen and would give us a big boost in physicality at the back. On a free he’s worth a look for sure given how many CBs we have running OOC ourselves - YES

Angel Gomes - hard to know if he’s suited to Amorims system. He’s diminutive but had become a bit of a terrier off the ball from the little I have seen of him. Obviously great on the ball so could be useful squad option and is homegrown which helps. - YES

Tariq Lamptey - a few years ago he looked mustard but has had a bad time with injuries. Based on that alone it’s a no go for me. - PASS

Matheus Reid - 29 so would be quite late to make a step up to a big league. Wasn’t even a 1st choice for Amorim either - PASS

Another I would consider if we are looking for a squad option at DM is Christian Norgaard. An underrated player who goes under the radar but seems like a good professional, intelligent, experienced player, technically sound with a good passing range. If we’re on a budget and need to add depth he’d be a very safe bet on a short 2+1 contract.

Thinking we need to get players that fit the 343 or 3421 styles, I think Tah would be a good choice for CB, basically replaces Lindelof & Evans who are leaving.

David is a good option upfront, and I am surprised he is gonna be a free agent come this summer, I suspect he might be snapped up in Jan.

Davies might fit into the the attacking LWB role, going up and down, he is gettable, not easy but gettable.

Gomes can be Eriksens replacement, quality on the ball and hardworking too, knows the club and also boosts the HG numbers.

Lamptey was good before but I think he either regressed or is just too injured to sustain a good form.

Sane is a pure wide winger, we have 3 of those and we need hybrid players that can function in wide areas and in the half spaces, players like our own Amad or B.Silva.

Son is past his best, and I don't the Reid fella.

Some good options. We are short at least 5 players so getting 1-2 free transfers could be quite useful.

Davies is definitely the most "dream" signing from the list but I suspect he is Madrid bound unless we offer silly money, which I suspect Ineos will not.

I quite like the idea of Gomes signing. We lack creativity and he is the master of threading passes in tight spaces. With Amad, Bruno, Gomes and a new LWB, we may be able create enough chances to win some games.
He also has previous experience in England and with the club. I see him as a rotation option for the 2 AM roles.

We should invest in another AM so its Bruno, Gomes and new AM. I don't see Mount or Rashford and frankly even Garnacho as long term solutions for AM.

Davies, Tah and Sane look enticing. Although I am wary of getting players who run down their contracts for a big payday and will join a struggling club like ours. I rather we go for younger, hungrier players with upside potential even if they cost some money.

Olivier Boscagli is also transfer free.. He has been brilliant for psv this year.. Such a classy defender and brilliant in the build up.. Brighton wanted him last summer, but psv wouldnt let him go..

Son will be a great signing even for just a few season, will suit the number 10 role perfectly, much better than Rashford/Mount/Garnacho

Nicola Zalewski to me looks a decent player as well and might be worth a punt considering the desperate need for a LWB - seems perfectly suited to that sort of role with good dribbling ability, decent pace and a solid engine on him. Right-footed but good off his left as well.

I'm surprised he can't seem to get into the Roma team regularly to be honest, he's only 22 as well so still time to develop - not a world beater and likely never will be but as a cheap option in a position of need I think he should at least be on a shortlist.

We rarely good for good free signings. Right? Most of them have been aged strikers

Yes, I always wondered why the Glazers didn't try to do more free signings or transfers from the bottom half of the league or even the Championship. I think the freshly relegated can sometimes present great opportunity for a team with top 4 ambition. Suspect they liked the appearance of big signings vs looking for value.

Not sure if these players have options, but there’s also:

Tyrick Mitchell
Franck Anguissa
Roony Bardghji
Christian Norgaard
Olivier Boscagli
Sean Longstaff
Kyle Walker-Peters

Leroy Sané - 28 - RW
Alphonso Davies - 24 - LB/LWB
Jonathan David - 24 - CF

Can Sane play as part of a front 3 for us? Idk.

Davies - should be our number 1 target, exactly what we lack.

David - only as a backup striker if we can shift Rashford or Zirkzee.

Based on what I watched last season, I thought Son looked much better when he played as a striker than a winger. Due to his age, he has lost some of his pace, which made him less effective on the wing. Should we sign Son for a short term striker? I think he would be good no 9 at his age.

If Son leaves spurs then it’ll be for Saudi or a club challenging for top honours - not a chance he’d come here at 32.

Lamptey would be like signing a right sided Luke Shaw - great for about 5 games a season but injured for the rest.

I would go for Joël Veltman from Brigthon to replace either Evans/Lindelöf in the squad. Ideal back-up for RCB, maybe even RWB. He will be 33 in January but knows the league well and is imo suited for Amorim's system. Should not cost too much either.

Davies obviously.

David would be interesting. He might not be a perfect fit as either a #10 or #9 in this system, but he'd give us something that Hojlund doesn't, for sure. He's got some similarities to Zirkzee in terms of positions he likes to take up, but he gets into the box a lot more, better defensively, just isn't as elegant.

Lamptey I have no idea if he can stay fit, but he would fit the system nicely.

In theory we could loan out Zirkzee, sign David with an eye to selling Zirkzee to a Serie A team when it makes the most financial sense (I assume that's not this summer), sell Dalot to the highest bidder and sign Lamptey as Amad's new backup. Kinda feels like he'd be another Shaw, though.

Davies, Tah, and Gomes are worth considering. Stay the feck away from Son.

Left sided CB too. Wouldn’t be mad at it

I wasn't aware Bardghji is out of contract next summer. It'll be interesting to see what happens with him as he's out with an ACL injury atm, I think most clubs will wait to see how he recovers.

I can imagine Davies being our next expensive, injury-prone misunderstanding

Think Bardghji contract expires the end of December, but still, one to look out for depending on his injury might of affected him.

From Ajax Devyne Rensch is also transferfree un the summer... Ajax wants to renew, but he's holding off so far...

Rensch is a bit of a weird case.. Showed very much potential at a very young age.. Turning 22 in January but already has 150 competitive matches for Ajax, even though there were periods with injuries and having to compete with players as Mazraoui and Dest in the past..

When he broke through he was very good and very highly rated unanimously, played for NL at a very young age, but with the decline of Ajax and some injuries his development really stagnated.. He had a very poor last season but this season he seems to revive himself a bit.. He even got got another NL cap last month again.

Thre are mulitple possible reasons why he might have stagnated over the years..
- He might just not be that good..
- He suffered with expectations.. When Ajax fell from grace he was being looked at at one of the strongholds as he already broke through under Ten Hag.. However he was still very young at that time and I think the expectations some has that he needed to carry the team and be one of the consistent factors was very unfair.. (Very similar to Kenneth Taylor, who is also in revival mode at the moment)
- He had periods of injuries..
- Another thing is that he is very versatile and can play mulitple positions.. He broke through as RB, but also played a lot of CB, LB and even CDM over the last years.. This year it really looks like he is benefitting from having his stable position at RB back, in stead of being swooped all over the team.

Overall he is definitely not good enough for United (yet) at the moment, but I still think he has a very high potential.. Either a big clubs get him and he gets the time to grow and develop, getting some minutes here and there, but without too much immediate expectations.. Or he goes to a midtable PL team or subtop elsewhere in Europe and should prove and develop himself further there..

Yes. But Sané isn't that great. He works well against the ball these days and has the ability for some brilliant individual moments, but his passing and teamplay is downright shocking, it is like he cannot judge distances nor timing, and he cannot technically execute even the simplest of passes properly. I would stay away. Let Arsenal take him and regret it.

Davies and David, friends by the way, would be awesome.

Lamptey is class. Hasn't he had a few injuries? If so, sign him up.

Tah and Davies are the no brainer options if they want to join us. Tah has played in this 3 at the back system, while I think Davies will fit for Amorim’s left wing back due to his ability to beat player and his speed.

Tah is nailed on to go to Bayern or Barca.

Why wait until the summer? Ben Yeddar is a free agent right now if we need a striker
