Will the real Fred please stand up?

Who is the real Fred?

How does he veer so wildly in terms of performance?

Today’s Fred is the one Brazil get. What’s it all about?

No the premise is wrong, his performance could be wildly erratic for brazil as well so that's just the way he is.

I have no answer to as why, he seems to be a professional so it's like he slacks off either.

Might have been rust the last game. He was quite consistent under Ralf last season.

His consistency is extremely volatile. The main thing with him is to not play him deep in midfield. He's much better when he's allowed freedom to press and make runs into the box. He had multiple games like this last season after Rangnick moved him to #8. He plays far better in this position.

He's actually not that inconsistent once he gets a few games in a row.

I actually think he's quite consistent in his performances, at least when he gets going.

The thing is, we can now release the mad dog in him.

Being an 8 since we've bought him, him and McT were wasted to play as 6.

He's a player for between the lines. Never been a DM really. Only offers energy, but not great at tackling or covering. And when he gets in the final third, he needs to be told not to shoot under any circumstances. I know he "scored" today, but his actual shot was horrible.

Make his game about high-energy, keep it simple with the passing, and pass to a competent finisher when in the final third, and then he could be a player.

This. When played sporadically he never seems to be very inconsistent but when given a run of games he usually tends to put in pretty good performances. He's always got loose passes in him or random bad moments but when on form his good far outweighs his bad.

He’s the new lingard. Has a good game and suddenly he’s a world beater.
He’s still below the standard, they are a thousand players out there that you could of put in rather than Fred and given the limited instruction of “go run and tackle”
When we upgrade Fred for a top player we’ll have a league challenging side

Nobody claims he's a world beater.

What a take.

He’s the player whose sole purpose is to “feck shit up”, whether it’s for us or for the opposition - doesn’t matter.

He didn't have a bad game against Newcastle either despite the hyperbole reactions on here. Today he was outstanding though, that through ball in the first half was unbelievable. It also helps when Casemiro backs him up. Case was immense as well.

The same fools have been back on totally forgetting how he’s been our best midfielder the last 2 or 3 years and that Includes Pogba who cost twice as much and worked half as hard.

what a game from the little guy. Dynamo
Yes, gotta love Fred.

It's not Fred the enigma, it should be "Fred the engine".

Sometimes engine can be bit faulty.

Said it before and ill say it again I love it when this boy scores, just as fk you to all his haters

But he supposedly barely resembles a footballer? We will surely win the league when we replace the peoples man of the match and Brazils starting box to box midfielder :wenger:

Strange player. From disaster against Newcastle to man of the match against Spurs. Can't remember a better performance from him, he was outstanding.

He just gets cut no slack whatsoever by fans. Every other player gets allowed a few games to get up to speed. Not Fred.

His reputation is already ruined. The whole McFred meme, it is going to be really hard for him to win the fans back. Just look at this forum, Fred makes a wrong pass and he 'barely resembles a footballer'.

Can you also show the shocking pass he did immediately after it

If he connected that pass after it would have been the filthiest moment of the night. That turn was delicious.

@GifLord, you might as well leave the whole sequence in because Fred did the skill, played a bad ball and then about 5-10 later seconds won the ball on the left channel, which set us up for an attack. All in about 15-25 seconds
