Every player is judged off moments, though. Those who are saying he wasn't good, which is fibe, are doing so based off his bad moments, no? Like his inconsistent passing, giving away the pen, being too rash in his pressing leaving us open. And, in my opinion, Fred's moments were more good than bad. Well, a lot more good than bad, honestly.
I really don't think so. I think forwards are judged on moments, defenders are judged on their lack of moments, and midfielders are judged on something else entirely. When you watch great midfielders of yesteryear what's noticeable about them is not the moments but their consistent influence. They're the brains in the team and to me they're judged on an aggregated overview of their decisions and how they shaped the game accordingly.
