Frank Lampard's Sack Watch / Sacked

I think he's certainly done unless he can turn it around and go on an Ole style run. The only question left is whether he gets to leave with his head held high.

So, is the general consensus that he should be sacked?

When top-four is a mere 3 points away? No, not for me anyway.

He deserves to see out the remainder of the season, see if he can get what looks like a talented side firing once again. He showed us he's capable of that last season.

The thing is, the top half of the table is crazy tight right now, all it takes is a few wins on the spin and you'll sprial up the table at a rapid rate. United were midtable a few weeks back, we're joint top now

Getting those wins is easier said than done, admittedly, especially if the manager can't get the team to function as intended or the squad have lost faith in him.
We were midtable due to having a game in hand though.
Sky saying the keague table is crazy but is it? Theres a lot familiar names in the top 6

I'm not a fan of short term sackings. Manchester United stood through periods of bad results with Ole and we're seeing the fruits of that labor come to fruition slowly.

Unless you're going to hire Sir Alex Ferguson I don't think there is a lot of "point" to panick sacking someone in the middle of the season. Even Jürgen Klopp had to bide his time to build something at Liverpool. Lampard needs to be given actual time with the players. Ultimately it's the players that are responsible for their own performance in the system they have been given to play. If they were performing well enough, they wouldn't lose this many games. The manager can only do so much.

It's all relative but for me, with only 7 points separating 1st and 10th place, the league is as wide open as it's ever been.

It would also seem a little hasty to sack any manager who is in that top 10 right now.

I just don’t get it with Lampard. I have said it from day one but i was astonished when he got the job after what I’d call an indifferent managerial start with Derby. What did Abramovich see to back up this decision ? I was surprised when Ole got our job but to be fair he was initially appointed on an interim basis plus he did have more experience than Lampard. To back up the respective appointments Ole has out manoeuvred Lampard pretty much every time they’ve crossed paths.

All part of the Abramovich plan? Lampard given the job to keep fans onside when looked like we'd struggle due to transfer ban. He over achieved to get 4th last season.

He's struggling to get the best out of the new signings, we're a worse team than last year despite the £200m spent.

If we're not making top 4 or winning the CL this year he should be sacked. Are we at that point yet?

Said before his hiring he should stay at Derby, remains to be seen how it pans out this season and if taking the Chelsea job does anything positive for his managerial career long term.

The Athletic have clearly been tipped off and had an article prepared and ready to go. Had a “Lampard Out” story out before the players had left the pitch
Yep, there's something to this, bit like the LVG sacking.

He always seemed a bit of a "patsy" manager to me. There to see out the storm of the no transfers period and be a clever romantic gesture to keep some of your rabid fans a bit calmer.

However in his defence he hasn't once been able to play his first choice front 4! That's incredible almost half way through the season.

You need to get rid ASAP.

To be fair, he did have at least 70min (+15min halftime) to write it.

To me it looks very similar to the position we were in earlier this season with Ole. If these results continue they will have no choice but to sack him, but I think he is better than what he is being given credit for at the moment.

What's with the lack of ambition and tactics today?

I like to wind you lot up but this must be infuriating. I just see nothing from Frank to try and get back in this. I also have no idea what you were set up to do in the first place.

Seeing as Duffer has gone to India can any of our other resident Chelsea bunch offer a serious opinion on the above?

we absolutely wont sack him this season. Unless something ridiculous happens like we are bottom half of table. This season he is safe as houses
As a utd fan that’s actually nice to hear. Hope he stays a couple of years.

Has absolutely no idea how to play his two biggest signings of the summer, brainless signings for the way they play.

The Athletic have an article ready to go for the sacking of any manager. These things are prepared well in time for any eventuality. Feature writers don't only write pices that are published then and there, a lot of the work also entails preparing material ahead of time.

You can't cover all bases of course so you'll sometimes see "HEADLINE" and text "Bla bla will publis more in a short while" - That's when they panic write something to beat everyone else to the cusp, or they take bits and pieces and mash it together to create a synopsis for a longer article the next day.

The point of preparing is that you'll have a main bulk of text that can easily be updated any published within minutes after an event happens.

More to the point, when someone is accidentally declared dead be some magazin, this is because someone published something that was meant for a back-end library.
