There is something about Goodison on these nights in fairness. They'll certainly lose a bit of that energy when they move to the new spacey stadium, look how long it's taken West Ham to adapt playing in a soulless bowl although imagine new Everton ground will be modelled more on Spurs.

Why is everyone shitting on him here? He did a very decent job all things considered.

It depends if they have any money to spend this summer, which I would be surprised if they do (especially when they're suspiciously claiming £130million more in COVID related losses than any of the teams around them).
Just surviving relegation isn't a cure for a squad that's really all over the place and only has a few bright spots. Aston Villa were in a very similar situation where the squad was a mess, they barely avoided relegation one season, only to go down pathetically the next one. Villa lost Benteke before they were eventually relegated, Everton are probably going to lose Richarlison this summer, and would you back Lampard and their recruitment to spend that money well?
Lampard is fecking clueless; they have to sack him. They should never have gotten this close to the drop. Lampard didn’t use his squad well.
I’m amazed people still don’t understand the situation we were in when Lampard took over and keep repeating the same nonsense that it’s his fault we were so close to getting relegated.
You can't fault the job he's done this year, after last night. But I would say I'm not sure there's enough to go off to think he's the man going forward. Next year isn't going to be any easier (although in your situation I wouldn't give a monkeys about that right now!)
It is. After watching United and Everton in the close season it was clear that one manager had the players buying into him and one did not. I think the Lampard - Ole comparisons are apt. Both can harness emotion but neither are great tactically.
It depends on the backing he gets from the board this summer and what he’s able to do financially but he’s been able to connect the fans to the club and squad in a way no other manager has been able to do in years. He’s been able to bring belief and confidence back to a squad that has been lacking it for years/especially this season after the brutal job Benitez did which almost destroyed the club from the inside out.
I understand that people on here are neutrals so don’t watch all our games but you can see how many players have improved under him and how quickly he’s been able to learn what needs to be done to survive. Players like Mykolenko and Richy have gone to another level under Lampard (a mix of himself and bringing in coaches like A. Cole etc.).
Let’s not gloss over the fact that there have been multiple games under him where we have been shafted too and we would have likely been out of the position we were in earlier than last night if that wasn’t the case. The Brentford game, the Liverpool game, the City game are the easiest examples and ones in which we took 0 points from but we could have taken 4/5 points from them all if the refs weren’t so blatantly shite at their job.
I agree that Lampard needs to work on his tactics but I think he’s a far better ‘learner’ than Ole is in terms of that.
Think this is closer to the truth than a lot of people make out on here.
Additionally, his job when he came in was to galvanise the club and avoid relegation; he has done that so he is going to get the Summer.
Personally, I am not too convinced he is a great tactician and I have some doubts of his ability to handle the pressure of being a manager when things go wrong; see post Palace FA Cup. However, he does seem to be able to get big results/performances against the big teams with your lot. Let's see how he goes next season after he has some time to shape the squad how he sees fit.

Yeah but they were in freefall. From the outside it looked like players were downing tools all over the place under Rafa. Fans were on Rafa's back every week, players didn't give he feck and Rafa was seemingly unable to do anything to stop the rot. They kept losing every week. When Lampard took the job, lots of us in this thread were saying he is walking into a very toxic situation.
We had won 1 in 14 when he took over. We have won 6 in 17 since he took over/5 in his first 14 games.
He took over a side that had absolutely no confidence. He took over a side that had just sold one of their best players and top creators in Digne after a very public spat with the ex-manager. The fans were heavily against the club and the squad (a mix of anti-Moshiri/Benitez vitriol and against the players). He’s changed it all.
I still think Benitez should be arrested or at least banned from football.
yeah, I don’t know if he is the right man going forward or not and it might end in tears again next season but I think he does deserve credit for what he’s achieved so far.
He deserves backing in the short to mid term in my opinion. How he handles that backing will determine his fate. It was the same story at Chelsea. He came at a low point for the club. Lost one of the best players in Chelsea's history, transfer ban so couldn't replace him or refresh the squad so he put his trust in the existing team and the academy players. That first season was great and he, in my opinion, exceeded expectations in securing 4th. Fell apart when he was backed in the window and the expectations were much higher. I hope he learnt from that experience and that he handles the rise in expectations better this time around.
He's got some good wins when needed. Whether he can take Everton back to the top half or third I doubt but would be interesting to see how he forms the team. Feels like Frank the manager will be in the making with this job and the fans seem to trust him and are tired of the other routes.

Agreed, I said in December if rafa didn’t go you’d be relegated. Granted I was 50/50 on whether Lampard had the tools to keep you up but he’s done just about enough.
I thought they'd go down after Burnley beat them in a Sean Dyche special give so I'll Frank Lampard credit for keeping them up and making me eat some humble pie .
All it took was Chelsea to not bother turning up and gift their old player a crucial win.

you certainly can't accuse the players of not fighting for him. Fair play to him, he made a sub and a tactical switch that won them the game. He's still learning his trade. Bit like Gerrard at Villa, next season will be the true test how good they are.
