Fourfourtwo Ranked! Ten best players in each position

This is by far the worst period since I started watching football. Vinícius Jr. would be just a great player 10 year ago; Di Maria was better and I don't remember him being considered a top 10 player in the world. There are very few "nice to watch" players too(Griezmann, Kvaratskhelia, Odegaard, maybe De Bruyne and Kane...can't remember another one).

That's a tricky comparison.

Vinicius Junior transmits way more world class vibes today than Di Maria did in 2011 when he was the same age as Vinicius. We analyze thing in retrospect.

Furthermore, Di Maria played during that age in a team able to score 120 goals just in the league in a season, because the squad was stacked with ridiculously talented offensive players, so his stats get favored by that as compared to Vinicius at the same age. You know, Rodrygo, Joselu today are far from Ronaldo, Benzema and Higuain at finishing the chances.

It is not possible to compare their whole careers, we don't have a crystal ball to do so.

Vinícius' age has nothing to do with what I said. He's considered the best player in the world right now by many people. I didn't try to compare their careers in any part of my post.

Di Maria had some seasons in which he displayed better dribbling runs, passes and general creative skills, which are exactly Vinícius' strenghts, in all the levels of the game(league, UCL, WC, CA, etc) and he was never considered a top 10 players in the world, because of how stacked football was in the past decade. I also never used assists or whatever stats to defend my point.

Is it that obvious that " Harry Kane has been the best centre forward in europe this season" ?

I might agree, but 79 minutes per league goal for the best Bundesliga team does not automatically mean the best forward in Europe, although It is impressive of course.

In the Champions League, he basically did identical numbers to his "rivals" on that list.

No Carvajal is a joke.

Third best, this last season at least.

You basically made two points in your first post. Football being more stacked back then, I very much agree with. Di Maria being better than Vinicius I do not.

Regarding stats (i.e. the Real Madrid side scoring 121 goals in the league), you did not use them to defend your last point, it was me who used them to help understand the context surrounding both players.

Regarding Vinicius strengths. No, it is not just dribbling, passes and general creative skills. You also have to add versatility to damage the opponent playing more centrally than Di Maria did and become a direct goal threat. That forces the rival's right full back to play more centrally too, which creates more space on the attacking left side. Also, the wide variety of techniques to shoot the ball at goal after a dribble at great speed.

Di Maria being a better dribbler than Vinicius. Well, that is your opinion, mine is the opposite.

As for Vinicius status now, he is not just highly rated for what he has done until now (scoring in two CL finals certainly helps) and because the overall level is lower than 10 years ago, which is something I agree with, but also because of the level he is expected to achieve in the future, which will be considerably higher than now seeing the progress the player has shown until today.
