Well I think I can speak for all of us when I say the list is absolutely spot-on.

Lahm is the second best player in the world. Ok then.

Balotelli shouldn't be anywhere near that list. He's never actually had the 'prodigious talent' people are always going on about and even if he did he sure as hell hasn't been showing it.

Rooney should be higher up too. He was actually very good a lot of the time under Moyes, and although the WC has obviously hurt his position, he didn't have that much to do with England's failure (unlike in 2010, for comparison). Even at a first glance I can see eight or nine players ahead of him who shouldn't be.

Messi quickly becoming one of those you don't know what you got till its gone types. Don't think we'll ever see another like him in our life time, victim of his own brilliance.

Ibra achieved feck all yet again yet here he is high on YET ANOTHER list like this. For bashing a few cannon fodder sides in France. The mind boggles.

He easily deserves to be on that list

Lahm at 2 is just being done to get publicity and get more hits. A plain old variation of Messi, Ronaldo as 1,2 would get practically zero attention.

Bale is way too high up... He's good but not top 5 good at all, its arguable if hes in the top 10 even.

Yeah, he was the biggest issue for me. He'd just about get in my top 5 Real Madrid players...

Yeah, always get the feeling a lot of people overrate him because he's arguably the best British player (though even then it's not clear cut, when Rooney plays as he has been recently). Modric should definitely be top 10 for me though, instead of him.

Robben has to be higher than Bale.

Robben, Di Maria, Ibra and Suarez should be higher than Gareth Bale.

Lahm at #2?

According to this De Gea is only the 5th best goalkeeper in the world. Should be top 3.

Also Suarez should be top 5.

At work so cant load the image so if someone could tell me where Gerrard is in the list that would be great.

Rooney at 49 is pretty bizarre as well. Im not even a big fan of Rooney but I could see plenty in the top 20 I would regard as inferior to him.

Awful list, at least the Guardian one usually got the top ten fairly spot on, this one is just dire throughout.

Lahm is a class player but no way in hell is he the 2nd best player in the world. Aguero should be in the top 10 as well.

I love Lahm but that is ludicrous. Aguero should be in there instead of Costa. Silva is way too low. Fabregas too. Both are better than the higher rated Modric and Kroos.

The 30-21 to is an incredible page!

Lahm is world-class, so intelligent and can play in different positions.........every coach would love a player like him

But come on 2nd best player in the world

Even Robben should be ahead of him

Why are some of you acting as if its an overall rating. This is a good list. Its takes the hype and trends of 2014 and factors that into the equation. Good on them.

Because even so some are way too high or too low. Like bale for example, who is in no way top 5. He wouldn't be in my top 10 even, there's plenty of better players around the world and more important ones to Madrid.

Lahm at #2 and Robben at #10 is ridiculous... Suarez is also lower down that list then he should be

Blind is like 10 spots above Javi Martinez.

Biggest omission at first glance is Miranda from Atletico, who was basically flawless for most of last season. Matic wasn't there either, right? He's great.
