Forlan on his way?

I'm not too bothered about potentially making a "loss" on him as his contribution has been well worth it :D

I am bothered about getting rid of someone who was meant to be "potential" and I think we can still develop that.

He has the talent, he needs the coaching and guidance and that we can give. What we cannot "give" is passion, commitment, determination, love for the club...

He has all the elements to be a worthy United player when it comes to character. He also has skill, decent pace, movement, workrate, two-footed, a nice long range shot... He maybe raw but that's what we excel at working on.

Keep him. <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" /> </strong><hr></blockquote>

agree fully, and what about his winner against Chelsea. He's staying, sorry people.
:D

A number of clubs?? He'll be exhausted.

While I think that a 7.5m were too much for an unfinished product like Diego Forlan. I still think that he can actually make it at OT. He is fast, hard working, gifted with a good technique, vision and shot.
Unfortunately he needs games to establish himself, something that SAF doesn’t afford to give him at OT.

Ideally I would use the Italian way of doing things and loan him at another EPL club to make his bones. It’s a pity that in England you cannot do that because at the end it would help everyone, from the big club (they will see this “loaning” as a unique option to groom or “advertise” their young talents) the smaller club (who would find these deals as a cheap and ideal option to strengthen the team) and the player (who would relish some first team football).

My conclusion is this. SAF will have to decide whether to sell Forlan, loan him or give him a first team run. I would like him to stay at OT and make it, but its not fair on Diego to let him rot in the reserves

Shut yer face you.

Any messages for the folks back home btw? I'm away tonight. :D

I think that 7.5 was too much for him, especially when we could have got D'Alessandro cheaper

Have you asked him? Have you heard him complaining about it? I'm sure he is loving every minute of training and occasionally playing alongside such great players.

If we sell him, who are we going to buy who is cheaper and/or better and willing to sit in the reserves?

I'm sure he doesn't see it as "rotting" but "learning".

No, we couldn't get D'Alessandro for less than 10m anytime in the last couple of years. And why on Earth would we sign D'Alessandro when we had just signed Seba and needed a striker?

Bergen. Flam. Ulvik. And some other places I've forgotten.

Forgive me if I am going to the extreme, but Diego make such a remarkable contributions to this years treble. His two desperation time goals might have just made the difference and kept us the pace while we were still behind Arse. If he gets more time he can show his greatness.

we would be mad to give up on Diego now, he went from being extremely unlucky to scoring some extremely important late goals to bring us some points before his injury and now he needs a good run of first team action (whether its with us or on loan)

I can't understand why people keep brining up the 7.5m or whatever it was. It was an exorbitant market then and if we were to do the same again we could probably do business at 3-5m. Unfair on him to say "at over 7m he should be the final piece in the puzzle" etc.

He's decent, but it's up to him whether he wants to stick it out, improve himself as a player and carry on the wonderful memories, or pack up and leave it all behind at a lower club. Keeping him would do no harm though.
