Yes, it's crap for those who like international management.
I usually dabble at some point, if I grow my non-league team into a good club the international job offers start coming in and I'll take one on, playing club and international at the same time. I do get bored of doing both together and tend to quit the inernational scene after 1 or 2 tournaments but still try it often.
Are you going to still buy the new one with no international management or not?
I'm planning on doing this. I've not tried one since FM 2007 so it's gonna be a shock to the system!
What I don’t really understand is how this rebuild works. Like, isn’t it just a glorified spreadsheet at the end of the day?
Surely all they are doing is updating the match engine? I’m one of those that could really give a toss about the match engine - 2D classic view all the way.
I think the match engine was mainly graphical. It was already one of the better things about FM24.
Currently it seems like the main thing they've worked on/struggled with is the UI change
The match engine is what determines what tactics work isn't it? It will obviously have improved graphics, but I'm expecting (hoping) that there are a better variety of tactics that work and that you aren't watching the same goals again and again.
It's more so that they're stripping all that back but not making much forward progress. Also the more they remove and fans just accept the more they'll feel justified and continue to pump out a game that should be Miles better than it is.I don’t play any of that so really not bothered as long as the game works.
The social media screen was handy for spotting regents that were doing well actually.

Yes.Pun intended?
Find it really odd that we’ve seen absolutely nothing of the new engine yet. Bit of a worrying sign.
Nah, more likely to just release it in a completely unplayable state, charge £60 for the privilege of letting the playerbase do quality control for a year and have something resembling a finished product next year. Maybe.Have you not heard? They've removed the 3D match engine for FM25.
The switch over to the new game engine proved more difficult than expected, and so they're hoping to have it back by FM26.

2027: “Only 3.5% of our player base used Women’s football so we’ll be removing it from the game”.
Does seem like it.Wait.. are they seriously removing the weight attribute because of the introduction of womens football?

FM has always been a bit awkward as a game concept. The thing there that was (and still is, tbf) extremely good compared to any competition was the database, not really the UI or any gameplay elements, but it is a shame just how little pressure there is on improving those aspects.FM had been producing different versions of the same shit for years. Let's face it there's hardly any difference between FM22, FM23 and FM24. Irrespective of that they had enough time to work on the side on a new game engine and produce a new game without having to strip it to the bones. I guess that's what monopoly does. It makes companies complacent which in turn ends up treating customers like shit
Are you positive about that? All the tests I've seen point to complete opposite (I do like this one in particular).I remember reading a thing about "jumping reach" (or whatever it's called) and height making a difference. A midget with 20 jumping was still getting outjumped by a giant, even if his jumping was 8.
I also remember running one of the FM Experiments back in 2013 or 14 and someone creating "Emile Messi", who was as heavy as they could make him, with minimum technical attributes but maximum physical attributes, and one of the first things that happened to him in game was his weight dropping rapidly to a more reasonable "athlete" level, so I don't thing these seemingly superficial stats were meaningless.

Would've appreciated the ability to pressure the board into resigning at United for the last decade or so.Someone leaked a screenshot of the new UI and main screen from FM25 on Twitter.
Just watched Zealand's video about it and he made a good point. In respect of the women's game being added...most people will know it due to international football rather than club football so would perhaps want to be England or US national team manager but you can't even do that now.
I'd consider playing as manager of the women's teams but until I see exactly how it's set up I can't say. Would be very doubtful it would be set up in such a way that I'd enjoy it.
I like lower league management and fighting up through the divisions, never playing in countries with just 1 or 2 leagues in the game by default. National League North / South is the best place to start for me as England goes 6 tiers deep without custom databases. Sometimes like to play in the countries with 4 divisions too. I can't see them putting any more than top divisions, perhaps the odd 2nd tier in there for women's football but they could surprise me.
Wonder how they handle finances too? United women, Chelsea women etc. are kind of at the whim of the umbrella club as a whole in the real world, depending on them to set your budgets, depending on them to decide if a match is going to be played at Old Trafford or Leigh Sports Village etc. Having control of the finances is a huge part of FM, growing them as you move up the leagues, enabling you to sign better and better players, dealing in the transfer market. Women's club have a lot less control in reality.
If somehow they did put them in there, how would managing a small women's club without a big men's affiliate deal with having to go up against all that within the FM world?
My biggest issue with Fm is that it's just such an investment. I'd basically need to spend about £1000 on a laptop just to play the game.
I disagree to be honest. I tried it a couple of years ago. I bought a laptop for about £300 quid which apparently met all the criteria they needed. I ran it with England, Italy, Spain and German leagues. Nothing fancy. There is a lot of criticism about the game that's fair but that's not true unless you're running every league and facepack available.

It worked but it was very slow, I gave up after about a month and the laptop has gathered dust ever since. I know that laptop more than likely won't be good enough to run the new version.

Yeah, no offence Hughes but something doesn't sound right if you're struggling to play on a £300 laptop. There's no way you're struggling to play that game on a 300 pound laptop. My nephew has a garbage laptop that's probably even worse than the one you do, and it's fine.
In all likelihood, there's something in the new game database settings that you're choosing that's making the database sufficiently high to stress your laptop. Next time you do a new game, check under advanced settings and make sure that you haven't chose custom database with lots of real players, or too many lower leagues available when selecting multiple playable leagues. There's definitely something you're choosing that's causing this. FM is a game that is specifically designed in its current engine to run on super old PC's.

There are options to use caching data to decrease page load times and using software as the rendering mode that dramatically speed up the game. Both are found in preferences. Using a continue game timeout also helps make it feel quicker between transfer windows.Interesting, I might try it again. I do play with real players as that's half the fun. Will try again and let you know how it goes.
Pity we can't have mens, womens and international football. But going with mens and womens seems fair to me. Personally way more excited for womens than I am sad at not being able managing international. (There will still be international games right?).
Different competitions and competition types already have different reputation values and it already kind of functions like this. You can't get close to max rep from managing in other continents than Europe for example in current FM's.I'm actually wondering how they solve the relationship between Ability and Reputation without having a hard split between the men's and women's games that you can't cross.
The women's game isn't as reputable as the men's game, so it should be the case that moving from, for example, United's women to United's men should have the squad questioning your credentials. However, as the game currently plays, top players tend to want to be managed by managers with high reputations, so are the women's players at clubs like Chelsea and Barcelona just going to kick off if you're not at Pep level reputation, or are they going to give someone like Emma Hayes a massive boost that would make her suitable for the top men's jobs?
Only thing I can think of is having different reputations based on your standing in the men's and women's game, where hitting a certain point in the men's game effectively maxes out your standing in the women's.

Ah, I see, I misread that. Yea, that would require some tinkering to adjust women's CA to men's CA.When they add the women's leagues, the best leagues and the best teams won't come close to comparing to the best of the men's when it comes to reputation, but the way the game currently links ability and reputation, the best players expect to be coached by high reputation managers. However, the best women's managers will not actually be that reputable.
