Football Manager 2008

Bought it yesterday, fecking sick of it already. I'm a massive fan of the FM series, but this one is absolutely fecking ridiculous. I had 1 match there, 18 shots on goal, not 1 on target. Every time I'm getting the ball with any of the United players, I'm blazing it over the bar. I set my mentality to closing down often, yet none of then players ever close people down. I'm getting 2 or 3 dissalowed goals every game. anyone else getting the same?

the disallowed goals was all the time! download the offical patch and it should fix it and make the game better!
 
had the game installed and it was working fine. Now when i double click on it, it says entry point not found. Anybody know what's wrong?

It's no different.

Only thing I miss is Genie Scout, since that hasn't been released yet. And when I play Football Manager I always cheat, because I can't bear to see United lose.

Just played it :lol:, won 4-1 against Chelsea in the second match of the season too. Gerrard playing at his best too :lol:.

My Inter team, 1st season won the league and the cup, last season won actually everything i could win.
 
What tactics or formations do you'll play?

I still save the game before most matches and then reload if I lose.

Some people here dont lose a game.How do yall manage?

Can someone please post a screen shot of the tactics and team instructions?

Thanks I will try those tactics for the first time not use the editor to buy or enhance player attributes.
 
tempo - slow? that's not the united way

mentality - attacking
creative freedom - much

tempo- quick
closing down - always
passing - mixed close to short
tackling - hard but fair
defensive line - pushing up

sometimes it takes a season for the team to get used to it but after that, it's all beautiful, unmerciful football.
 
4-2-3-1: Edwin, Neville, Vidic, Rio, Evra, Carrick (MC), Hargreaves (MC), Ronaldo (AMR), Tevez (AMC) , Giggs (AML), Rooney. (basic setup but I played players like Gibson, Simpson etc. alot in the cups)

Attacking mentality
Fast and Wide with mixed passing
Creative freedom depends on the player

Player instructions:

Fullbacks have to join the attack (forward runs often or mixed)

Vidic is more defensive than Rio (only 1 or 2 notches though)

Hargreaves stays back a little more than Carrick. No forward runs for Hargreaves and mixed for Carrick. Slightly more defensive mentality for Hargreaves.

Front 4 have last notch of normal attacking, with the 3 players just behind the striker lots of forwards runs so that they join the attack. I also arrowed the wingers to run in the box. Trough balls often and crossing mixed.

If I really want to feck up the oppositions defence I just let the front 4 switch around, one minute Ronaldo is the striker, the other minute he plays left winger,... seems to confuse the opposition alot. But I usualy start with only Rooney switching with Tevez and Giggs switching with Ronaldo.

I can't be bothered to read through the thread, so can someone tell me how good the game is (rating out of 10 would be nice) and also how much better it is then last year's FM ?
