Football Fantasy Draft

Tbh this one is so slow, that I'm thinking of scrapping this one and starting one for 8 people only

personally Im in no hurry so not really that bothered but I suppose it can get frustrating

just reduce the time limit and keep PMing the people who can pick when someone takes too long

Just that people don't lose interest. It's ok if people wanna continue this one though.

I have a 9-10 time difference with Desert Eagle, he never picks on time, and the majority of the time when the 12 hour period is over, I am asleep.

No rush really, but I remember the young than Messi draft go quite a bit quicker...

behind rossi cassano and balotelli for italy.
Good goal scoring record for inter but still has not nailed down as first choice striker. In fact yo u yourself preferred the ageing milito to pazzini.

Also he is an out an out striker, lisandro robinho are great options as wide forwards. Saying youd have him ahead of tevez is just silly.

I picked Eto'o:confused:

I'd have him ahead of Tevez. Know one likes Tevez and he hasn't played at all this season. That's going to affect the voters.

He's not behind Cassano and Balotelli. That's for sure. He's the kind of striker that Italy always has up forward. If Cassano or Balotelli are playing they'd be behind him.

Saying I'd pick him ahead of Robinho and Lisandro is simply my view. Nothing more. Lisandro has a lengthy injury and isn't 1st choice at the moment because of that. Robinho has been hot and cold as far as most people know. But you are correct in that they have more versatility. That's something I didn't think about.

my mistake regarding milito.

But pazzini has only started 1 competitive game for italy in 2011 (vs Estonia). And none of the last 5. Rossi and Cassano are the first choice forwards at this moment.

1 game? No he's started 2 and has come on 2 times as a sub. Cassano started last game but he scored the only goal in 1-0 win over Slovenia a month ago. He didn't even start that match against Estonia but he did score.

Cassano has started every game since this season started. He's also been in good form And I'd also have him over Pazzini. But last calendar year Pazzini was the in form striker and was the starter. Italy however aren't very much a goals galore team but they do alright.

Balotelli has hardly played.

But as of now yes, Cassano is first choice and then Rossi.

He's clearly underrated for him being picked so late. Didn't understand that one. I'd have him over Robinho, Lisandro and Tevez. First team at Inter and Italy.

So in your original statement you claimed first choice for Italy. We both agree that whilst he is an important player, he is not first choice.

You said he was first choice for inter, yet he has only started 4 of inter's 9 games this season.

You also said he was a better draft than robinho lisandro and tevez.

As you argued earlier you did not consider their versatility. They have been picked in this draft as left wingers, not strikers. Therefore they cannot be compared with pazzini.

Tevez is a world class striker and is only not playing at the moment because of matters outside the pitch. matters that are not relevant to this draft. Cause any manager in his right mind selecting a group of players to play in tournament would have tevez ahead of pazzini.

I was obviously wrong about him being a starter for Italy. Fact is what I was saying is more relevant to 5 months ago.
I'm usually very correct about these things. More than most people. Now what does that say about the thoughts of other voters?

He's comparable if they end up being used as strikers.

Any manager would pick Tevez? I very much doubt that. Mancini for one wouldn't. SAF probably not either. I wouldn't want him in my team. Inter had no problems selling Balotelli because of his attitude. Mancini won't have a problem either.

Who else if your team needs creativity, eh?

A playmaker - main assets are his passing, vision, technique and setting the tempo of play as well as his goalscoring ability from midfield.

(Ill post a pic when I get home)

We are just around the halfway mark now
Which teams look strong?

I think Cal, Minkaro, and Solius' teams look pretty good so far

I guess it all depends on if we consider attitude as an issue in this draft. If this is based on form and talent then tevez > pazzini. If we throw attitude into the mix then its another story

Well obviously you will try to base it on the form/ability but the subconsciousness might have a role or two in making the decisions. Like if you rate two people about the same you're more likely to pick the man you like better. That's all I'm saying.

Regarding Tevez, I've never rated him highly. Not before he came here, not whilst he was here and not after he left. He leveled Berbatov on goals last season but in so many more penalties. Penalties are like 1/3 of his tally with City. I know that's a skill as well but it's not anything special. He's a cock and I wouldn't want him in United for free with half his salary.

No that was just an example with no specific person in mind. Most people would pick Tevez. I wouldn't. That's just me. It's a fantasy game and I wouldn't have him anywhere near mine unless he's in the other team crying.

 fair enough

My team is fecking fantastic and you all know it.

Completing my attacking front 3 is the unpredictable but definitely effective on his day, the comedy king from Russia

Now my dilemma begins as to who to choose next. A mid-fielder or a defender.
Taking into consideration that another 31 picks are there after my turn I am going to complete the centre of my defence.
He was voted the best captain of the World Cup 2010 and has won the Copa America too. I am going for another Uruguayan (they are mostly likable other than for the fellow who plays for Liverpool). And he is good at set-pieces at the other end too (like my other central defender)
