I agree with buildabonfire. I think today's news merited a thread of it's own.

As far as I know the reason it's part of the other massive thread is because whoever first posted the story didn't start a new thread. There was no merging of threads involved.

My take on this is if in doubt people should err on the side of starting a new thread. A quick search should make sure there's no duplicate threads but people shouldn't hesitate in starting new threads if they've come across something interesting or important about the club ownership.

This is also true of news about players. I don't think people should be scared of starting new threads in general, so long as they;re not duplicates. Worst case, they end up getting merged but that's better than people not realising there's been an important bit of news about the club because it's been buried in the depths of some mega-thread.

sensible summary and suggestion IMHO.

Great example of this today with the £600m bond thread.

Significant new information today. How do I access discussion of this without wading through 70 pages of very strong opinions on this issue provoked by months of announcements and speculation?

my opinion is that, chances are, what you are about to post, has already been posted and discussed has already began. Theres nothing more annoying than having to give your opinion in 3 or 4 different threads for the same thing.

We didn't have mega threads in the past and it descended into madness. The 1st page of the forum would literally disappear within minutes of something of significance happening. Look at forums that still do this, its a mess

Totally disagree. When the same topic can only ever be discussed in a single thing you get the same people having petty cyclical arguments and it gets harder and harder for a new person to join in and have a sensible discussion. It also stilts the flow of discussion on the forum - I find far fewer threads interesting and useful to read now than when I joined, mainly because of the one massive thread for it all approach. I used to post a little bit on another forum where they had taken the one topic one thread approach to an extreme, and it was crap. I also post on another forum where new threads are started all the time about any subject and it's much more fun and interesting, in general.

Did you see the state of the place after the Rooney incident?

Today's news was posted about late yesterday evening but I didn't see it until lunch today on SkySports as I don't bother to keep up with the bond thread but I'm guessing loads missed it in the same way.
