Fixtures over the next 30 days

Hope Arsenal win tomorrow. With Aguero and Fernandinho back for the new year, City will start accumulating points pretty soon. So would like see them drop points as much as they can. They can win against Liverpool though.

From the next six games only Liverpool is a tough game, we could go on a good run here.

Surely by this logic we want City to win, as Arsenal look like the more catchable team for us in terms of top 4?

A draw between city and Arsenal would be ideal.

No - Arsenal are much better this year and I don't think they will be out of top 4 this year. While City on other end, are very vulnerable and inconsistent.
City can be caught for sure.

I was genuinely going to quote this myself just now

I stand very happily corrected. I don't think we're winning these two games under Moyes or van Gaal, shows to me that we have really grown as a team.

Lots of ifs but if United can get 9 pts from the next 3 games, and Liverpool manage to draw/lose vs Everton and vs City(Liverpool beat Stoke and Sunderland), United can overtake Liverpool if United beat them on the 14th.

ofcourse yes - but then the thread itself is hypothetical

Looking at the table and how much of the season is to go, and our form, and finishing 2nd is not out of the question now whereas previously even 4th looked impossible. Also we have opened up a nice gap with West Brom so look unlikely to finish lower than 6th. Still all to play for and will be interesting to see the table again at New Year.

Yep, completely realistic for that to happen. We could easily find ourselves within a point or so of 4th going into 2017.
There's nothing realistic about Everton beating Liverpool

The confidence we are in now should lead to 2 easy home games to get our goal dofferential back up. Like 2 hammerings are needed. West ham away will be tough though. After that its a couple of cup games and then liverpool at home. Great chance to go on a run now.

They beat arsenal and everton under the lights is a weird one, it really transforms goodison.
Away at Goodison is one of the toughest games for ourselves, Arsenal, City and Chelsea, but not Liverpool - Everton haven't beaten Liverpool anywhere since 2010 under Hodgson (and they haven't won at Anfield since we won the treble in 1999, and that was against 9 men); Everton are always fecking pathetic against Liverpool.

Carragher described it as a mental block, and I think he's right. Having failed to beat them under Dalglish and Rodgers, I have no hope at all of them ending that win-less run against Klopp - it's definitely not a realistic outcome, as much as I want it to be.

An Everton fan I used to work with, once told me that should Liverpool ever finish 19th in the league, Everton would manage to finish 20th!

Believe

Something unusual happened today. Because of the time difference, I usually miss most games and wake up to the scores. Recently, I haven't been that arsed about them, but this morning they were the first thing I looked at when I got up.
Are we back in business?

Main target is closing in on 4th and 3rd place, then use the Jan window to consolidate the CL spot and see what happens above from Feb on. Signs are good.

It appears WH might be tricky, as they might pick up some points but 13 points seems the minimum given all the competition seem to be winning their games.

Looking at the next 5 games

Boro (H) PL
West Ham (A) PL
Reading (H) FAC
Hull (H) FLC
Liverpool (H) PL

4 games out of 5 at home coming up on the back of 11 unbeaten and 5 wins in a row. I don't expect it but IF we won that West Ham game you're looking at potentially going into the Liverpool game 9 wins in a row.

4 points separate the 2-6 positions at the moment. Who will crack first ?
Things are intense, aren't they? Just waiting to see who drops points first, everyone is not making mistakes by dropping silly points so far.

The pressure is getting bigger and bigger for teams 2-6.

And we have Mhkitariyan about to explode as well as Martial & Rashford still to come into form and contribute. I can see this run of form continuing for quite some time.

Mourinho has been brilliant, and we are incredibly unfortunate not to be second.

That's the question isn't it? I feel Chelsea have enough about them now and the confidence to push on to the title. Pool look like they could possibly challenge Chelsea though, as much as it sickens me. After that United, Spurs, the Arsenal and our noisy neighbours are in the mix. Truth is, all 6 teams are playing good football, and capable of playing fantastic football. The mid-table teams all have an upset or two in store. Could be an absolutely blinding run-in to the league. Could also be bloody heartbreaking, too.

Really important that Hammers played their best team today - and lost. Tired legs, Noble off injured and their confidence taking a knock after their win against Swansea

Palace, West Brom, Sunderland, Boro, and West Ham.

All completely winnable and I expect nothing less than 13 points from them. If that happens, we are back in business.

I make that 12 points from 4 games, with WHU still to play.
Lets see if your 13 point prediction proves correct.

By the way I predicted 15/15 and I'm on course for a perfect score.

Biggest question is, will Utd move out of 6th position if they beat West Ham for 6 game winning streak?

City's squad is paper thin, especially in midfield and defense so I fully expect them to falter more than the others.
