Fight Night Champion --Official thread--

yeah i have got, think it s a lot better then the previous versions.

Think it's a fecking mint game to be honest, massive improvement on FNR4 which was pretty shit :D

Played this at my mates - I was Ray Leonard, he was De la Hoya.

Knocked him out within 20 seconds of the first round and the fight was stopped!

Yeah there's some good flash knockouts in this. I had to beat somebody with my right hand in story mode and I accidentally caught him right on the button with the sweetest left hook counter. Dropped him quicker than Charlie Sheens tv career.

So this is good, then? I've never really played a lot of boxing games. Honestly, I can only remember two. 4D Boxing (awesome game) and some old game on the Playstation where you could pick your own entrance music and everything.

How's the story mode? I can't see myself being too interested in online play.

Likewise. Back to Dead Space 2 for a bit to chill out...

Nimic - story mode was quite a refreshing distraction from the norm with these games. It took me just over 6 hours to complete and in many ways acts as a pretty decent tutorial to the fundamentals of the game.

I wouldn't just buy it for that alone though.

It's epic if you're fighting against a mate of similar skill level. Had some epic (offline) battles with my best mate on 3 and this is a lot slicker than that.

It's also nice to just dip in for a quick bout against the AI from time to time. I just had a 10 round war as Moseley against Hatton. Ended up pipping him on points and we both knocked each other down twice during the fight.

Then there's the old school legacy mode. If you can be arsed to create yourself and build up your boxer from scratch. Very rewarding when you get your skills up...

It's a great game, thought Champion mode was fantastic to be honest, nice to have a "story"

online im so shit its unbelievable.

any tips how to last more than 1 round ? im in a middeweight and have a rather quick boxer rather aiming for a jab than a uppercut or hook.

Are you getting steamrolled by power boxers? If you are, just stay back and let them punch themselves out. Go to the body if you get a chance, but get out quick. You have to treat those bouts like a marathon. If you can stay out of trouble in the first couple rounds, you'll be able to easily hit 4-5 punch combos on them when they're worn out in the later rounds.

Got this last night.

Starting to get to grips with it now. I'm still shit but at least i'm learning how to put combos together more rather than just mashing the analogue stick.

I love it and contrary to the post above I tend to knock people out using combinations rather that power-counter punches.

I've just got myself up against Frost. feck me. In my first attempt I didn't survive the first round, second attempt I got about a minute into the second.

I'm taking a break and going for a run. Something tells me this will take a while!

You can't engage him at all until later on in the fight. He'll smash you up every time.

When it says stay away it literally means 'stay away' eg. Mosely v Pacquiao.

This Frost fight is fecking solid! I finally managed to survive 2 rounds only getting knocked down once. Then I had about 6 goes at the body shot bit before giving up. I reloaded it a bit later and it's put me back at the beginning of the fight! God damn!

Absolutely loving the Legend mode. Now that I can actually put opponents on their asses rather than having to always win on points it's starting to liven up :D

Got this on love film yesterday, the legacy mode is a bit too short completed it in just under 2 hours on pro and the last fight is a bit of a shambles against frost were you basically run away for 7 rounds and then knock him out.Other than that though a quality boxing game which is just let down with the lack of incentives.

This

Just beat Frost... feck me that was hard.

He's a right cnut. Took me like an hour to beat him. Thank god there was checkpoints every few rounds, otherwise I honestly would never have a hope of beating him

What difficulty dod you do it on?

I was only on Pro and it still took me fecking ages.

Love the game though.

Did it on pro too. I was disappointed with Champion mode tbh. I know they have Legend mode and all, but it did seem a bit farfetched even for a game. They're all about realism but Bishop starts as a middleweight, bulks up in jail to heavyweight and competes at that weight? No weight cut down to LHW? And his stamina was no worse than when he weighed less. And since when does it take so little fights to gain a title shot? They should have integrated more training techniques into the story mode even as a filler, rather than just following random commands on the heavy bag. This game had big potential, but it just seems like a little improvement on FN4. Gameplay is good, but it has no shelf life for single player

Well I haven't owned a boxing game since Knock Out Kings 99 I think so maybe that explains why i'm enjoying it more.

I've been playing Legend mode for quite a bit now (Think i've had about 20fights) and i'm only now starting to get chances to win belts etc. If I become the Champ and start to find it easy then I can just bump the difficulty up. I think you can change weights also....

I love this game but my word online is awful.

It's not boxing.

Thinking of getting this later, sounds like a cracking game

so argos were selling it for £20! get in!

Christ there's a surprise. Usually they sell games for nothing less than €60. No matter how old they are.

Yeah I was shocked too! Usually don't give them a second glance

Just done Champion mode on the hardest setting

I actually worked up a bit of a sweat against Frost!
