Gaming FIFA 22

Absolutely loving my team at the moment. Aside from Adidas Insigne (who should be getting his first upgrade soon so I can change his chem style) I dont feel like I have a weak link.

Currently in the 433(4)

Gk IF Sczeszny

RB WW Spinazzola
CB SS Skriniar
CB FB Chiellini
LB Theo Hernandez (pink next gen card)

CM RB Kessie
CM WW Milinkovic Savic
CAM Purple Defrel

LW Adidas Insigne
RW TOTGS Chiesa
ST RB Arnautovic

The 2 CMs are absolute monsters defensively and SMS is very handy in attack (7 goals 5 assists in 20 games).

Purple Defrel is genuinely one of my favourite cards this year. So quick and agile and always seems to pop up to score.

Just changed from Donnarumma to Szceszny and was amazed at some of the saves he was pulling off

Serie A fans rejoice. WW team 2 has an 89 Maignan, an 86 Florenzi, and a 90 rated, 90 pace Zlatan card (who will no doubt cost close to a million)

They are changing the ranks next season which makes it a lot more interesting for the pro's. I think I'll struggle to get rank 2/rank 3 which is probably my level.

Claude - Alexis 84 version is a beast, 90 base pace as a midfielder in this stage of the game is huge.

Can't stand doing the icon swap squad battle challenges, they bore me to death and the CPU pinging the ball with low chem teams make me rage. Stupid boring challenges that I can't fathom anyone enjoys.

Need them for Casillas though..........

Your choice but Unless you're a fan of casillas I wouldn't waste tokens on him.

All keepers are terrible and casillas is no better than a bog standard rare gold keeper.

Really? I haven't found a decent one as of yet, is no one worth to splash the coins on? Casillas would be for the chem as well obviously.

Any tips how to make it to Elite division. I’m just beating a player, drawing and losing in no particular order. Though, I definitely haven’t hit my ceiling yet.

I defend fairly well, but it seems that so can most people at this point. I seem to absolutely always feck up my final ball which is all the more frustrating, if I get a decent goal opening opportunity, I usually slot it in.

I would say that I don’t spend enough time playing FIFA. I mean this season I only managed 70 rivals games with about 15 Champions matches. I realise that practice is what eventually counts the most but I just need to stop being so inconsistent. It’s a problem I’ve had for a very long time playing fifa. I feel like when I’m on my game - I can be absolutely devastating but when I’m playing badly - I’m a division 5 player or worse!

Team I run in-game; 4231 (2):

De Gea; Mendy, Kounde (Promo), Varane, TAA (PoTM); Kante (Base), Capoue (Promo); Vinicius (PoTM), Aouar (Promo), Fekir (Proom); Salah (Base)

It’s frustrating guys and gals — I feel like Burnley. :(

I just packed a 92 rated Puskas.

Not sure whether to keep it or sell it to do the following:
- Get Normal 91 C.Ronaldo
- Upgrade Normal 91 De Bruyne to SS 93 De Bruyne
- Upgrade Normal 89 Van Dijk to IF 90 Van Dijk OR Upgrade Normal 90 Kante to IF 91 Kante

What do you reckon guys?

Puskas is one of the best cards in the game, I'd definitely try him out for a while at least. His dribbling is maybe the best of any striker outside probably the top 3/4 icons. He's near impossible to tackle if you're good at dribbling, turns so quickly.

Yeah, I have played a couple of games with him and he does feel quite a bit better than CR7.

He’s great but not a 1.2 million net card for me. Certainly not if I’m in a higher divisions. He’s absolutely bollix to play against but a whole new team could get the guy father in my opinion.

Division 6, I'm a real newbie
What team do you have? Also do you play for ‘fun’ as in do you just use your favourite players or do you use the best cards in game?

My best advice is to slow down in the final third, unless you are countering. Close control dribbling is far more effective than holding r2.

Use L1 and R1 to make players run in behind, or come close for passes, and use the L1 give and goes. Dragging opposition players out of position is the key to making space.

Any formation and tactic can be 'meta' if you know how it works. I use 433(4) which shape wise is similar to a 4231, but the midfield is higher and the wingers are wider. But I have used the formation for so many years now that I have a 6th sense of when and where my players will be, and what runs they will make. The only custom tactics I use is stay back on fullbacks, stay forward on the front 3 and CAM, and get in behind on the striker. Most of my play goes through my CAM, and other players just move around him.

Once you understand your tactic you are all set. You wont win every game, and the best thing is to just relax when you do concede, try to keep posession and not get tilted

I usually play out very quickly though and thus the space closes if I slow my game. Again, it seems that I just do the wrong move when it matters most — I’m a mental midget, I’m afraid.

I prefer not to use manual runs unless I’m fairly confident that they’ll pay off. As fast as I like to play, the way the AI is on its bike is quite hilarious — the players just sprint forward without dragging anyone out of position.

And, yeah, I’m passed the point where formations make that much of a difference to me.

Allison
TOTGS Trent Van Dijk Varane RTTK Robertson
Kante
KDB. TOTGS Bruno
POTM Salah. RTTK Son
Puskas

I know it's not optimal but I really like getting the highest rated Prem players in each position, with some exceptions, like Varane over Diaz due to pace and now Puskas of course.

I'm open to changing though, what would you recommend?

Good lord, wish I had that team. Though, I’m sorry to say but in your division you may as well use a team you really like mate. You’re not going move in orders of magnitude with Puskas. I’d definitely sell him and I’d buy the rattiest teams you can.

What are your custom tactics?

I use back 4 with stay back on attack. Conservative interceptions. Two holding miss; - stay back while attacking, cut passing lanes. Front four I have on stay forward with my wide players on get in behind.

Though I don’t feel it’s my tactics that are letting me down. I don’t feel right because I don’t hold possession as much or something..

I rarely have more posession than the opponent, its not a be all end all.

By custom tactics i meant the actual custom tactics as opposed to the player instructions. What I have found is you can overcomplicate it all, when most things on basic is just as effective.

The only thing I changed in team instructions was to make the passing 'direct' (or whatever option says it keeps shapes until the final third). Possession was too slow, long ball just had everyone run forward regardless and left me open for counters.

Using the L1 and R1 runs is so important at higher levels, and i'd strongly recommend starting to use it especially as you say everyone is good at defending anyway so small changes in attacking patterns you can force will make defenders have to move manually, which will leave you space eventually.

Having your cms and full backs on stay back will hamper your attack. You are effectively playing 4 vs 7 in attack and making it easy to 2nd man press while blocking passing lanes, which would mean in posession its just a waiting game until you make a bad pass. You need to either have the cms or the fullbacks on balanced, or you will only ever be a counter attacking player

I know that possession is not everything but when I feel hurried, I just get slightly out of my comfort zone — akin to the real thing.

That’s way too defensive IMO. Personally I think I’d play Kante or Capoue not both. I like having one pure defensive mid who is on stay back and one more attacking cdm who isn’t. The attacking cdm would be 5ft 10 or below, have 4 star skill, at least 80 pace and 60 or higher defending. Somebody who is fast and can run with the ball if there’s no passes available.

I would only have by full backs on stay back if it was late in the game and I was defending.

Put your fbs to balanced rather than stay back, then they will play level with the cdm/cm position. That way you always have a wide option that will be open if you are being closed down quickly to just reset your attack. If they are closing down a lot they will be dragging players out of position to get the ball and will eventually leave you a space

Thanks for the reply. Thanks I’m going to try to be more adventurous to see how that goes. I’ve Fekir and Auour so it shouldn’t be a hard problem running one CDM and ad

I will try putting my FB on balanced when I play next mate. Anyway, I’ll let you home how I get on. Thanks for taking you time out and giving me a couple of tips guys.

I use Salah and Vini as strikers whom are more than capable. Finishing isn’t really one of my problems — it’s the final third and the final ball to them that is, usually.

I've used literally every keeper in search of a good one the best I’ve used are Neuer and Ter Stegen. I just feel it would be a waste of tokens but its your choice.

Decided against it and got the 25 83+ pack, nothing great but some decent cards. Waiting for a good sbc now since I have a lot of 83-85 cards I'm willing to trade in.

I’m elite but that would be a problem for me, there’s no need to have fullbacks on stay back, likewise no need to have both CDMs on stay back also play high depth and pressure too.

I run 4222

both strikers on stay central get in behind
wide cams on cut inside get into box stay forward
my DMs one is stay back other is get forward, stay on edge of box
all defence is just default settings

75 depth
45 width
press on possession loss.

going forward everything is balanced
1 corners
1 free kicks
7 players in box

Even if you didn’t pack anything amazing the right choice I think.

Packed an untradeable Florenzi which slots nicely into my team. Played 7 games in D2 and won 5 of them, SMS and Kessie as a duo in midfield are incredible, feel like I have so much control.

The Adidas upgrades have been a massive help too. Insigne now has 96 pace, which means i can use a deadeye chem now which massively boosts his positioning

Thank you. I will adjust my tactics to be more attacking and see how I get on.

I swear these preview packs are better any other. Excluding getting Ole in a paid pack. The luck has been garbage. In preview packs I got Vardy, Kane and now I got Wildcard Tierney which sells for 95k. Lovely.
