Ok so Fifa 2008 is released in Europe this friday (28-9-07).

Who's going to buy it?

Who's been put off by the demo?

Who's waiting for PES 08?

I've played demo and it's only slightly better than Fifa 07.

It's more like a a patch or update to 07 version.

PES 08 is different story... people who played demo tell that the gameplay is great and player movement is very realistic, now.

I'll be getting it on PC.

I love Fifa. I won't have much time to play this one though.

I thought the FIFA 08 demo was shite. Worse by far than the 07 edition.

Year after year we are told that Fifa is making up the ground on PES. Bullshit!

PES is still number one by a marathon distance.

I'm still gonna pick up a copy of Fifa on Friday though. I need a football fix on my PS3 to tide me over until PES 08 is released at the end of October.

Or for people who like decent gameplay

Fifa has decent game play. I've only played both on PC. And I find Fifa smoother and better. On other platforms, I don't know.

Pro Evo geeks seem to think they're somehow superior for playing Pro Evo. They seem to forget that it's a computer game.

Why is it bullshit?

You say Fifa hasnt improved from last year, so what the hell have Konami done to make Pro so much better than last year? Add a dive option?

As far as im concerned Pro seems to be just a faster version of last years game, im not with this fanboy malarky where some say ''Oh Pro is much better than Fifa''

''No no Fifa is much better than Pro'' blah blah blah

I will get both Fifa and Pro, and I will enjoy both games.

FIFA's gameplay is nowhere close to Pro Evo at all eventhough the bullcrap that their developers keep spouting. Gameplay still sucks big time and is nowhere realistic.

That being said though I'd probably buy it just to complete my collection and because of the lack of games on the PS2 at the moment. I'll probably just play it once and then just keep it as I always do. It only cost the equivalent of your 60 cents here anyways. The pirated version of course.

PES has improved a hell of a lot from last year. The tackling has got better the passing has the AI on the opposition players has increased.

I too will be buying both games.

However if i could choose only one it would be Pro Evo every time.

My only gripe with PES is the licensing issues with the Premership teams. Other than that its ace.

I'm not a gaming geek, but there's no comparison. FIFA's a turd. And you simply can't polish one.

It's funny how EA Sports trying to explain the revolutionary stuff going on, every year when they're releasing almost the same game.

Fifa 94 - First Fifa 2D. Good vga graphics but no licenses on players.
Fifa 96 - 3d graphics and quite good gameplay. Real squads and clubs.
Fifa 97 - Slow gameplay, slightly better graphics.
Fifa 98 - Good gameplay, many new options in tactics. Simply great game.
Fifa 99 - First 3d accelerated Fifa with not very good gameplay.
Fifa 00 - Nothing new... but the strongest Manchester United ion the whole history of this game :)
Fifa 01 - Slightly better motion capture, but nothing more again.
Fifa 02 - Not bad gameplay, new passing system.
Fifa 03 - Good graphics and signs of a new gameplay.
Fifa 04 - Tragedy. Awful. Graphics sucks, no gameplay at all.
Fifa 05 - Slightly better graphics but the same old chess.
Fifa 06 - better gameplay and graphics but still a little bit crap. The goal keeper is like superman.
Fifa 07 - Not bad career option, gameplay quite good and animation.
Fifa 08 - Seems like just an upgrade to 07 version except the new option by playing only one player on the pitch.

FIFA is for gays more interested in pretty graphics than gameplay

Pro Evo is where its at

FIFA's graphics are shite though

The players always look laminated, and don't quite move across the pitch in tandem with the movement of their legs. When you score, the ball doesn't hit the back of the net, it's stopped by an invisible forcefield.

Also, on the last game, Saha STILL had dreadlocks. If you're going to just lift the new game from the last one, at least make a half decent effort of hiding it.

The fact that FIFA introduced a 'new control system' which is the exact control system of Pro Evo with the sprinting on the shoulder buttons, shooting on square on crossing on circle says it all. Hell they even copied the meter system for shooting off Pro Evo. FIFA never had a meter for quite some time.

I bought FIFA 08 for the PS3 today (Thursday). My first impressions are that its actually a more real game of football than FIFA 07.

The tackling seems much more realistic - have done fewer diving tackles on this game than almost any previous footie game I've owned.

It actually plays better than the demo - smoother and more responsive and after having played about 4 matches I have to say I am really enjoying it and it certainly feels as though it will be a challenge to master.

You can also setup online leagues for up to 32 people, so if anyone else gets it for PS3 let us know and we'll see if we can get enough to setup a Redcafe league.

I will probably get Pro Evo as well - or at least give a demo a try and see how it compares.

I know some people are dead set against even considering FIFA, but they should give it an honest go.

Looking forward to playing some games online when a few more people pick up a copy.

Eurogamer calls it the most realistic game of footy till now: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=84408

EGM gave it two 9s and an 8. Have heard many positive reviews and comments from hardcore pes'rs who bought this to tie them over to pes 2008 and have been genuinely impressed...

could this be THEIR year?

"It's right about now that it hits you. FIFA 08 is perhaps the most realistic virtual rendition of football you've ever played, one that requires you to think like a real player, to probe and pass and ping the ball around the field rather than charge forward en masse like an invading army. Every bounce and spin affects how the ball leaves a player's foot when they shoot. Defenders and attackers desperately lunge and poke at the ball when it's loose in the area rather than having it sucked miraculously onto their toes by an invisible tractor beam. And then there's the way that you can only ever truly get at the opposition if you put your foot on the ball, graft hard and look for those rare openings that typify a real game of footy.

To emphasise my point, let me take a small detour. After spending a couple of days in an intimate clinch with FIFA 08, I fired up PES6, a game I've always considered a slick and fairly realistic rendition of the beautiful game. It was like someone had sped up time. Players buzzed around the ball like flies around a horse's arse and it wasn't till an hour later that the joys of PES's unadulterated end-to-end mayhem came seeping back into my overwhelmed brain.

The distinction between PES6 and FIFA 08 proved so wide, it was almost hard to believe they were the same sport. And herein lies the age-old conundrum. Which is better, the slow, considered simulation or the madness and mayhem of arcade-inspired action? Well, as with all such decisions, it totally depends on what type of experience you're looking for and how much time you're willing to invest before you master it."

i think ill get it if i can find a good deal, because ive got too many games recently which i havent had a chance to play.

This happens to me. I get a game play it a few times then end up getting another new game out of boredom a couple of weeks later. In the last month I've bough Stuntman, Call of Juarez and Halo3.

been playing to today, scored some cracking goals

only gripe so far is the players stamina in management mode, 3 matches in and you have to rest the players

however this has allowed me to see that frazier campbell is pretty decent, 3 goals in 2 games while rooney and tevez were putting their feet up
