Gaming Fifa 10

Although in fairness my favourite has to be playing a ball to Rooney on the right hand side of the pitch in space, hitting sprint and running in a straight line towards the byline, and watching their fullback from the other side of the pitch power over and barge hm out of the way before he's halfway there

Rio and Rooney are a bit slower than in real life. Shame. But football games always have rubbish stats and Valencia and Nani bring good speed to the team. The twins could use a boost on their speed stats as well.

Gameface isnt bad, its probably just not what we expected with some of the quality of the texture lost when you get Fifa'd. Someone asked before why all the faces in the game arent done using this to make it more realistic... Well the answer seems to be that, since you can only do it with your pro and not every created player, it would take up too much file space. And although it didnt make me look Asian, where my face texture ends and the generic skin on the face starts, in some lighting conditions you can see that quite clearly. That doesnt look too good.

my gameface looks like the lad in the uber tan photo, worse still I cannot change the rest of my skin tone, so when I score and raise my arms aloft i have pure white arms and a bright orange face

Is the hardest mode really difficult?

Because that's my biggest complaint with football games. I'll keep playing them anyway but it would awesome if on the hardest mode I actually struggle to win the league on manager mode. Or is it the same, get used to it and you'll win almost every game against the computer.

If you wanna up the difficult regarding the level, try the different configuration of semi-automatic or manual.
Personally since last year I play on everything manual

I'm not even aware of this. What does it do? Isn't the passing manual anyway?? Now I'm getting confused about the game I've been playing all year long.

If you haven't changed anything you're set on manual settings.
You have aspects like: shooting-passing-through passing-crossing that you can more or less type on "manual","semi-assisted" and "assisted" (in the previous I wrote semi-auto but I meant semi-assisted).
It more or less freedom with your ball, the game gets much more difficult as you have to be really precise in terms of direction and power when you shoot or pass the ball.
It's in the menus, where you can set your controller 's button, look for it as it changes the game entirely

Alrighty. So were these settings there too on Fifa 09. I'm just wondering because I never changed a thing there, and if that was manual then I doubt this factor is going to make things harder on Fifa 10.

I just hope that they make the difficult realistic. If your three main defenders are out, you will leak goals, if you take things easy and lose concentration you will concede, if you give the ball away cheaply etc etc. In FIFA 09, on legnedary you could field a second string team and beat Chelsea on manager mode. It doesn't happen in real life. This is what's disappointed me most about sports games. They never get the difficulty.

I mean, look at Killzone, I've been stuck at the same point for 3 months because the hard mode is that difficult.

The game is initially set on "assisted" in 09 and 10 I think, in terms of difficulty it won't change how the AI plays against you but you'll have to learn to play the game differently and you'll have to be more focused than ever.

I started out on Legendary and won my first game 4-2 against City - completely battered them for the whole 90 minutes, the 2 goals they scored where against the run of play, which is typical of the AI. But since then, every game has been a battle, I've lost some and won some.

It's like anything though, once you get used to it, you'll win more or less every game.

I did try Manual settings on 09, but got frustrated to easily. I might give them a go again soon.

Tbh it's about personal choices but I must say that PES has been dead for me since 2 years ago and by the look of things (PES2010 demo and FIFA10) it'll still be dead for me

People don't like it because the product isn't as polished as Fifa but in terms of realism and gameplay it's miles ahead of Fifa and it alays will be.

If Pro got the licenses Fifa would cease to exist imo.

No it's not miles ahead of fifa in terms of realism and gameplay. I have been playing PES all along, but this year I switched to FIFA(I was thinking of doing so last year). PES has been rubbish for a good few years now, and fanboys are desperately trying to deflect from that. If you're a proper football fan, you will know FIFA has overtaken the rubbish that PES has been producing recently.

Not really mate. FIFA handled the leap to next-gen far better. I was a Pro Evo freak and preferred Pro Evo 4, 5 and 6 to the FIFAs, but as of FIFA 08 they got better. They got the independent ball physics, which was the main thing that allowed for more entertaining matches in PES, and generally added finer nuances to the game. It's just a bonus that their packaging is better.

I played Fifa for a couple of months last year and had pro in the wrapper. Once I took pro out I never picked Fifa up again. Pro may have not seen drastic improvements but it's still miles ahead in terms of realism. It's the ultimate alter.

The ball physics are shite. The ball feels like it's floating!

That's point, every game isn't like that. Just the sports titles. As I said, Killzone 2 on hard mode, is bloody hard, no matter how many days you spend playing the game. The best you can do is win dying a few hundred times. That's how it should be. It's something these guys don't pay much attention to (sports game developers). Legendary mode should be such that even if you are brilliant, it takes you to be good on the day (or in that hour) to beat the other team. If my mind is somewhere else and I'm not really playing at my best, I should lose.

Agree to disagree, I suppose.

And the ball physics thing I mean is that the ball is independent, it doesn't gravitate to players and it lives its own life.

Whether you care for the dynamics of the ball outside of that is a different issue, but I still feel FIFA edges it.

They've completey taken the fun out of playing as United. Why is Evra suddeny rated at 82? Why are Rio and Rooney so fecking slow? Why can Rooney be pushed off the ball by fecking Robinho? Why can Wayne Bridge outmuscle Rooney? Why is Fletcher rated so badly?

Not particularly happy with this installment of the game. It gets 6/10 from me. It just doesn't seem particularly enjoyable if all you have to do to succeed is have a team full of massive lumps like Chelsea and just shove everyone off the ball. Passing is good but the pitch is far too congested to ever play a proper passing game. The game speed is also far too fast even on slow, I miss the realism of the older PES games.

Good to see the transfer market is realistic as well. Clichy for sale on day 1 of my manager mode season for £6m. Davide Santon for sale as well for £4m. It truly is staggering how little the developers actually do in a year. Lazy workshy cnuts.

This pisses me off too. I'm getting a headache just watching the game. It's wayyyyy too fast.

I almost get motion sickness the camera just swings so rapidly all over the place.

Not to mention the passes are sometimes as hard as the shots in that you can't even see the ball when you pass/shoot it. I try to hammer it in from 25 meters out and the ball is just gone -> goal kick.

It's still a poor representation of football - apparently being shoved off the ball by Ibra causes Rio to stumble around dazed for about 3 seconds.

The whole pushing players off the ball gaff has been rather poorly implemented too. I played a match earlier with a friend who went Chelsea, and a two of his goals involved Anelka shoving Carrick off the ball, then shoving Vidic off the ball, then sending Rio sprawling and then scoring

Well Zain, I criticised the demo as well, but you always get the knee jerk spastics who as soon as they get their hands on the demo, extol it as the greatest game ever created. Like Sharky says, it's still a very bad representation of football. The new physical edge has been really badly implemented and just doesn't feel right. Pitches are far too small and congested and the goalkeepers are still shocking. I'd go as far as to say about 80-85% of the things they said they'd improve have either stayed the same or just made the game in some way worse.

NOw that is a concern!
I'm just wondering though is it the actual game that's flawed overall, or is it the stats of the players which are letting people down, i.e perhaps Carrick's strength is not as much as it should be, along with Rooney and Rio's pace?

I thought in the demo the pitch size was good, but was that cause it was Wembley that I played at?

Basically, is it better and more realistic than 09?
