Ferran Torres / signed for City

Thought he's more similar to someone like Isco (or Nasri before) than Sancho.

Isn't he meant to be quite good? Why so cheap?

Torres is one of the only ones who wont be available unless theres a big offer

He's one of the few they can build the new squad around

Not such a big offer it seems

Bargain, wouldnt mind getting him and Sancho and send James on loan.

For 20-25m we should be in for him too. Him for the wings and VDB for midfield rather than spending 65-80m on Grealish.

Great deal for them. Suits Pep better than most teams too though. Pep to be fair to him knows how to get attacking wingers to reach some crazy levels that they won't reach anywhere else.

Is he any good? Better than Sane?

He is good, but not better than Sane yet. Still, Pep knows his attackers and midfielders, and his style usually is very helpful for attackers. The chance of this failing is low, and even if it does they are not paying much anyway.

To avoid making the Transfer Tweets thread into another Ferran Torres thread:

Romano states that City are going to pay 24.5 million pounds as the base fee for Ferran Torres. The only remaining part of the deal is some minor details over the add-ons.

Very good business by City if this goes through for the reported fee.
Would have liked us going for him, too...

Is he any good? Better than Sane?
No, but in fairness few are as good as Sane, he was one of the best wingers in the league for a few seasons.

Hes probably been signed as a squad player anyway. Mahrez, Sterling and B.Silva no doubt will be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Can't say I have seen much of him. Seems to be highly rated though. His stats aren't exactly breathtaking though. I know you can't base it all on stats but still.

So he’s abit like Joaquin? Decent winger without really being outstanding? But i understand Joaquin can be very good on his day

Can't really go wrong for that price though, especially when you're as rich as Man City.

To be honest, I can see Bernardo go this summer. Would be a bit of a surprise but there are rumours about Pep targeting someone who can play as a false 9 so him or Jesus would have to make space, I guess.

Some rumours of a 20.9 million euro fee initially which seems crazy to me.
There's a slight difference in valuation from different journalists, but they're all around 20-25 million Euros + 10-15 million Euros in bonuses.

EDIT: Looks like Ducker's valuation has come closer to 23 million Euros now:

Romano's reporting even higher amounts

24.5 million pounds + bonuses

Saw him only once for the Spanish national team, don't remember if it was the u20 or the proper team, but i was quite impressed, a constant threat.
A good signing for City this one, I had at the back of my head as an alternative to Sancho...

That was easy. Barely know what that's like being a United fan!

Valencia are desperate to sell players, and Ferran was very keen on playing under Pep. Even if other teams wanted him (e.g. Dortmund, Bayern, United, etc.), City were always going to be favourites.

This is why we need to push hard for players who are keen to join us and not just any available player.

He's 20, has an eye for a pass to put a player in behind and has some skill and composure to finish himself. But he's only played for 1 season and 4 goals and 5 assists in 26 starts is good for his stage of his career but not exactly a signing like Fernandes, or Sancho, or Sane.

£20-25 million up front will be a very good fee if true

Spanish Dan James

Right now I dont think he is. But Grealish doesnt play on the right wing. Long term maybe

Edit - I'm watching plenty of Valencia again and for me Torres isnt as good as Chiesa yet. But he's younger and perhaps more potential, he has less end product. He's also not as good as Grealish. So Torres is more likely a player you might sign this window but might not look like a great signing for another year or two. Chiesa and Grealish are players who might more likely hit the ground running and perform right away
Thanks mate ..... really appreciate it

Think he'll do a fair bit better than James of this season. But Sane is a lot better

Without knowing anything about the lad I'm assuming he's one for squad depth with Sterling and Mahrez to still be their starting wingers

This guy is talented and for city to get him for 27m + add ons is just ridiculous. This guy has potential and under Pep's tutelage, he will only get better.

Spanish Dan James

Dan James is not worthy to lace this guy's booths. James is a one-trick pony... find space, run..... if no space to run, then around for the ball. This guy can actually get himself out of tight spaces and create chances. Not sure where you got the Spanish Dan James tag from.

Maybe just maybe it was tonge in cheek. Maybe
