Assuming our reported interest in Nasri, Modric and Sneijder is real in all three cases what order do we think they appear on Fergie's wish list?

EDIT: MONEY NO OBJECT.

I think he'd take any and it'll all depend on his love of "value"... that would make Nasri number one if there is any truth in the stories.

After his kind words re. Modric I'm sure he'd top his list if all 3 players cost the same amount.

Sneijder is probably top but I'm not sure how realistic that is. Nasri would be a hell of a coup and Modric will probably have the highest transfer fee of the three but not have as high wages as Sneijder.

Bit odd, this. The only possible way to rank these three is to completely take money out of the equation, which is pointless because you absolutely cannot take the money out of it. If any of these three cost £15M and would have wages of £75K/week, he'd take any one of them, laughing all the way. None of them are likely to come for that, though, are they?

I suppose the question really is then, in which order would Fergie want these players if money is no object?

Modric
Sneijder
Nasri

Personally I'd flip that though.

Seriously?

I'd be quite surprised by Nasri. He doesn't fit what we need at all.

For me it's obviously the order you suggest but I think that is exactly right.

I think we could gamble on someone like Banega though (in terms of playing, not saying we'll move for him at all).

More than anything we need to add technique and the ability to maintian possession under pressure.

Who says we're after any of them?

EDIT: Didn't read the OP properly :o

I think he does, I think his best position is centre mid and I don't buy this "he can't play in a 2" stuff. Everyone said the same thing about Modric and he made them look like fools.

Nasri is the youngest and buying him would also weaken a rival. He was the best player in the league along with Nani for the first half of the season.

Sneijder - Experience (CL-winner, WC-runner up). Score goals. Can shoot from distance. Excellent pace and good vision. Maybe best suited to a 3-man midfield?

Modric - Similar to Scholes. Two way midfielder. Good vision and comfortable with the ball close to his feet's. Suited to a 2-man midfield. Not sure he's a big game player?

Nasri - I don't see him as a midfielder but he's a very good offensive player. Can play both as a winger and COMF.

If we take transfer fee and salary out of the question I go for Wesley Sneijder but I think that Luca Modric is our prime target. Samir Nasri is just a out of the blue opportunity we can't miss if he's available.

It's not that I think he can't play in a two, it's more that I don't think he has the discipline to play in our midfield. Plus I am not sure Ferguson will have much time for someone who wears snoods. :)

Modric
Nasri
Sneijder

Can't disagree with this. Sneider blatently does not want to move and Nasri aint as good as Modric IMO.

Could maybe see one out of this three actually here next year along with someone who we don't suspect a la Chicarito!

Nasri
Modric
Sneijder

Nasri if he decides he wants to leave will be the best signing in terms of his age /ability / price.

We would have to bid over £40m for Modric and thats way too much - Tottenham can go feck themselves.

Sneijder will just force Rooney to play out wide or up front as he is best in the hole where Rooney prefers to play.

I dont think Fergie is a transfer muppet so therefore Nasri will not even enter his thoughts. I am pretty sure Sneijder wont happen either. And I reckon he knows that.

The only realistic one is Modric. So it is up to him if he wants to part with £30m ++ for one player.

Modric would the most Fergie-like signing of the three: approaching his prime, proven in the Premier League, versatile, playing for Spurs.

Sneijder is more of a Chelsea signing, he's a ready-made world-class player with the ego and salary demands that go with it. It's a bit doubtful if he's ready to adapt his playing style to fit our needs better (i.e.: is he ready to play in multiple positions - not at the same time, obviously - or does he insist on being the playmaker behind a main striker all the time?)

Nasri, I imagine, is more like an unexpected opportunity: his contract situation made him a possible target but it's still unlikely we can get him from Arsenal. If there is a real chance of signing him he might jump ahead of the other two in the pecking order.

I also think, like many above, that if we do sign someone for the midfield it will be a somewhat unexpected name.

That hasn't always been a good thing.
