Fellaini | Gone

Hope he does well in China. He's had his uses but we can't justify keeping a player that should never start for us and really just offers a plan B.

We can always do what other teams do and put a CB up top for the dying moments if needs be.

He’s gone.

Good luck to him. Did a job for us but the way he delayed signing that contract last summer was enough hint that he should no longer be around the club. 7m will pay for his salary and other expenses over the past few months I suppose.

Could anybody please tell me exactly when anybody booed Fellaini

I keep reading it over and over again that he has been booed by his own fans.

No he has not! Ever.

Just because you can't remember something doesn't mean it never happened ffs.

I remember the days when our fans celebrated everyone on the team sheet and then groaned at Fletchers name, happened for a few weeks. Our fans are not tolerant to players in the slightest.

I bet you can't name 3 CL teams from a top 4 league that 'want' him.

They can't afford him because what he think's he should be paid and what he's actually worth are light years apart. There's only China that's willing to meet him on his own evaluation of himself.

There are more than 50 Countries in Europe, each probably has a League of 20 teams, (50x20 = 1000), minus your 3 teams, you do the maths.

Fellaini will be forever associated with our post SAF slump into mediocrity. Due to incompetence of 3 dinosaur managers he became synonymous with style of football that should come nowhere near OT. Can't say I'm not unhappy at all.

Starting to think Mourinho was only playing and talking up Fellani to piss off the board. The second he got fired they've sold him under a caretaker manager who in theory, doesn't have a say in signings and sales due to the temporary nature of his role.

Yeah. I have already posted that i stand corrected. I probably dont remember it because even at the end of last season when it was clear he was playing a negotiation game with us i never heard a boo and found it surprising.

And i remember the days of Ralph Milne.

I would say we are a very Tolerant bunch compared to most.

There are 44 countries in Europe. I'm even surprised that there were so many as I've been to 25 and thought I was only missing 13! Teams in Belarus can't afford the salary Fellaini would demand.

Fair enough.
I always thought it was primarily social media stuff that Fellaini got regularly abused.

The only other United player I remember getting abuse from the crowd was Nani during the Moyes period.
Yeah, it's very rare we turn on a player like which is what made it stand out, it's why it's always stuck with me. I wonder how Fellaini will look back and view his time here.

Like winning the powerball lottery, i would imagine

 more of this bullshit. End of an era is winning form or a trophy not selling a playing who hardly plays

Felliani represents everything that went wrong in the post-Fergie era.

The Ole era has begun.

The BBC say he has agreed terms, surely not long now?

He was a good lad did everything he could and up to his limits when he was involved. He could've benefit us in games like yesterday.

Good luck to him. And now hopefully we can get better replacement.

Good move for all parties. He'll do well there, Shandong are a pretty physical side and it seems like we got a decent fee for him. He may not have been a good fit for us, but was a model professional and had some good moments.

Anyone else think this sale was pushed through so we can get a replacement in this next 24hrs?

That aside, I wish MF well. Bloody frustrating at times and looked like he had won a competition to play for us some times, but he always dug out of us. Like many, I associate him with Moyes and being Jose's love child. For that reason, I'm glad he's gone.

Good luck MF.

Yeah pointless turning on players isn't it. Achieves nothing.

I do wonder who was behind this transfer, there is no way they've allowed a caretaker manager to make a transfer decision. Someone or the board has decided Fellaini isn't a Manchester United player and shouldn't be at the club.

It's got to be Sir Alex and possibly the advice of Sir Bobby.

Short contract so if he wasn’t in Ole’s plans it makes sense to move him on for club and player.

Its a club decision. I dont think SAF rates Fellaini at all

I've a question around this. How are Georgia and Azerbaijan considered transcontinental but Armenia isn't? They're all neighbouring countries.

I’m guessing it’s because while Georgia and Azerbaijan straddle the Greater Caucasus mountain range- considered the natural geographic border between Europe and Asia - Armenia lies a bit further south in the lesser Caucasus, fully within Asia.

I doubt it but never say never. I think there is some optimism in the cub regarding Garner and so if Fellaini goes, Garner can take up his space in the squad.

You're probably right! I would have assumed the Lesser Caucasus would be considered part of that border. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Azerbaijan extends further south and further east than Armenia? One of those odd things, like the fact the most norther point on Ireland isn't in Northern Ireland

Yeah it goes further south and east, but crucially a lot further north as well. The Greater Caucasus extend in a pretty straight west-east line from the Black Sea to the Caspian, with Georgia and Azerbaijan occupying the entire southern flank. Armenia’s northern border lies a good bit further south.
