Favre

Nothing like American capitalism. Favre jerseys are the featured shopping item on the JETS website. No surprise there. Better strike while that iron is red-hot in NY.

No doubt Mangini was a rat, and I am glad the Patriots got what they deserved and lost the perfect season in the Super Bowl, cocksuckers

Nah, was not being serious. It was a friendly comedic bird as a result of the ribbing. If there is such a thing.

I can only imagine what's going on in NYC right now, I just got back fromthere on Tuesday.

Anyway, nice pickup by the Jets, he'll sell shirts, but he won't get them to the playoffs.

Why wouldnt they be idiots if they did otherwise, I mean how many fecking Chad Pennington jerseys do you think they sold

Favre is gonna get some time to throw behind that Jets line.

He just needs to find a reciever now......oh shit...it's the Jets.

"Favre to the jets" thing is great for the jets. the jets franchise has always been known to cost cut and be cheap stakes when it comes to signing players. the jets being so cheap is one of the reasons 'the tuna' left because they wouldnt let him "shop for groceries" With this move for Favre i think it the Jets will move away from the cheapstake tag and be considered a ambitious franchise

 Actually the shop for groceries quote is from when the Tuna was at New England, he then went to New York where they gave him whatever he wanted(Curtis Martin and they let him draft Terry Glenn who had an incredible rookie year). They almost made it in 98, made it to the SuperBowl almost, this guy, the M-V-P had something to say about in Elway's last game in Denver. The next year Vinnie tore out his ACL in game 1 and its been downhill from there.

yeah your right....my bad...still a cheap franchise not known for its good personnel decisions. evem peyton manning stayed an extra year in college to avoid playing for the jets

Tbf, he would have probably gone there than the Colts, who were shit up until when Manning came, the rest is history

Partially true. Glenn was drafted by New England not the Jets. Parcells did talk NYJ into acquiring Martin from NE. And the Jets choked a halftime lead by committing something like 5 turnovers in the second half.

They didnt choke, Denver played shit themselves the whole game; they were just the far superior team. Yeah what was I thinking with Glenn:lol:

Oh I know I was at a Giants game in NY in late december when they played the Pats in 96' hahaha, confused myself

Spot on but confused why he would choose a crap club to play for. He could have beaten out Jackson in Minnesota or those wannabes in Chicago.

I think it's more that he knows Parcell's believes in him and will build the offence around him, even though they wont win many games.

Playing in Miami will be a decent fit for him with the weather and short play, clock draining offense they will have this year in my opinion. His shoulder injuries, together with his weak arm meant teams did not have to defend the whole field properly as his career went on, even in that great 2006 season he had. Its even worse for him in cold weather conditions as the year goes on like in New York or Chicago.

I think it came down to Miami >>> Chicago > Minneapolis-St. Paul in terms of autumn through winter weather

Denver was the better team no doubt but aided by the Jets committing five turnovers. The Jets were near flawless in the first half. The Broncos were crap that day, as they had been the last few weeks of the regular season. If not for the implosion by NYJ the Broncos may have suffered defeat. This is possible in nearly any game where a club commits 3+ turnovers. It really alters the entire game when a team is constantly receiving possession inside their opponent's half of the field. Look at the 95 NFC title game where Dallas had three turnovers in the first five minutes resulting in the 49ers taking a 21-0 lead. Dallas outplayed SF the remaining 55 minutes but lost by 10. Take away those early turnovers (they had five overall) and the game result is most likely different and possibly a Dallas victory.

IMO, the Broncos should really be thankful that Gary Anderson missed that FG against Atlanta. That Vikings offense was unstoppable and they could easily have topped 30 against Denver. That would have been one hell of a Super Bowl - with probably a 45-38 scoreline. Minnesota's defense was atrocious that year. I knew Denver was going to beat Alanta. The Super Bowl was a foregone conclusion when Morten kicked that OT field goal.

Minnesota play indoors. And that club is a competent QB away from possibly winning the Super Bowl.

I wouldnt even deem Pennington as a competent enough quarterback to win a SuperBowl. You dont live in the Metrodome if you live in Minnesota though;)

Living is far different than playing/practicing football indoors. I'd take Pennington over an unproven, inexperienced Jackson. And even if Jackson turns out quality that gives the Vikings a very good backup QB, which is probably what Pennington is destined to become.

BTW, Dallas wants Chris Simms to be Romo's backup (probably third choice this season) but the fecking Bucs are holding out for a high pick, somewhere in the 3rd round range. Dallas laughed at them. The Bucs aren't even giving Simms snaps but have the gall to demand a 3rd rd pick. That's ok because he'll probably get released later this month and come to Dallas for no draft pick.

Im not sure about that you know Alex, being a Pat's fan I have seen how painfully accurate he can be in the short passing game, he is great at moving the chains at times. Go to a team that is stacked on both lines like Minnesota and Quarterbacks like that have a chance, look at Trent Dilfer. I think the only reason the Jets played Clemens was the stretching the field thing and injuries.

I dont rate Jackson myself, but I reckon Pennington would be out pretty quick if he got sacked on his shoulder on that surface in the Metrodome

Yeah Simms would be a great option for Dallas as backup and would be an even better option for Minnesota imo. He really looked like he was gonna make until he got fecked up in that game against Carolina and ruptured his spleen. He has the talent and pedigree to be a good QB and would be a good pickup by most teams.

That's the thing though, he is a great short range passer, but if you cant beat a defense deep they can always stack 8 in the box, which will hurt the running game, and make blitzing far easier

He wouldn't get sacked very often behind that OL and handing off to AP and CT. Surprised the Vikings didn't move for Griese. He's a solid QB and I still don't know why he never got a fair shot in Chicago. He's so much better than Grossman or Orton.

True but everyone has always done that with him anyway, Ratgini etc have always found ways around it with screens and things of that nature or more intermediate stuff. I think Minnesota's box will be stuffed this year anyway with a certain Adrian Peterson about. They obviously think Jackson is capable of taking advantage of it... I am not so sure.

I believe it was 6 turnovers(that said the best teams create turnovers). The 23-10 scoreline flattered the Jets considering the Broncos couldnt get it in from the 1 on their first drive. Regardless the first half was very sloppy by both sides, also I remember Romanowski speared someone so hard he knocked himself and the other player out, the difference was Romocop was back in the game a play later . Davis was once again unstoppable though, he had 167 yards and a TD. My original post was about when T.D. ran for a 30 yard touchdown at the beginning of the 4th quarter to put Denver up 20-10

Yeah Minnesota and Denver would have been a great SuperBowl, reckon the Broncos would have won though, just because they could run the ball on anybody all day back then.
